- I made this condo for my cat Blue out of cardboard boxes, paint, and glue. I was inspired to make it look like art deco Miami building. goo.gl/bzupVs

I’ve been thinking about getting a cat condo/cat tree for a couple of cats I live with (they’re not mine, they belong to my landlady who I also live with) but screw that idea, this DIY is perfect for me to take inspiration from! I prefer creating things more anyway so yeah, perfect idea right there!
Im inprocess of doing this too. It to me is an art project. You go girl.

This is a real work of art, luv. You obviously had great inspiration...I used to live in Miami years ago and that skyline never seems to change. Thanks for posting your condo. I’m an artist but I work mainly in watercolors so I’m starting in ground level. But I think I can do a condo similar to this. Doesn’t have to be big, Simba is a little kitten still. 😻 🌺annie

I also have been thinking that I can do something like this, np. My friend now has 5 cats & this is definitely a perfect project to undertake!! Gotta keep all kitties challenged & they love this stuff. They will even help us build 😸Wish us luck!!

Older video, I realize, but I've got a 15-lb cat and am wondering if the cardboard would support her. (I suppose I could next boxes to get more layers and extra security.)
I'm not exactly sure how much weight it can support but my cat is definitely a thick kitty (at least 12 lb). The stacked boxes are pretty supportive on their own. The deck area may be the only area that is less sturdy if that makes sense!
@@ladyloko Cool, I'll keep that in mind while building. I guess my cat lost weight, since her more recent vet visit put her at 11.5lb, so it sounds like it'll be just fine!

I have a really big cat , Weights around 12-13 pounds he’s pretty heavy. Do you think this will hold his weight

How much does ur cat weigh? And did u do anything special to help support its weght on the cardboard? My cat is on the heavy side ( overweight by vets standard) thats why im asking
I'm not exactly sure how much my cat weighs but he is definitely a thick kitty. The stacked boxes are pretty supportive on their own but the deck area triangles should be at minimum 8.5" x 7.5" x 11.5" the more triangles you have the more supportive it should be, just make sure you use a strong glue! hope that helps
My cat is 14-15 #. I think this is sturdy enough to support him. Can't wait to get started. I think I'll add a bed room on the 1st floor.
Will simple acrylics do for the paint and fixative ?
Yes! I used acrylics on mine (just make sure your cat is not going to chew on the box)
Aaand watch your cat barely use it because of paint smell or something :)
