    Crazy, this is the series I been teaching for 40 years. Firemen, Short Carry with or without the leg . Short Carry to an arm drag. I was once told I was old school because I still showd this series and the cross face series to a cradle . Stuff work then and still works today. Great stuff.

      Yeah man I’m obsessed with this series. People throw older moves out too fast because they think that they “won’t work on a good guy.” That’s why I always try to make my videos in a way that show that these technique work on elite wrestlers.

    I started wrestling late and I didn't wrestle for long, but the dump kind came to me naturally. I'm not even sure if I was ever taught the move, I just knew that I could get results. It's fun to see it used effectively at the highest level. RUclips would have been so cool to have back then.

      same, the dump was something that just clicked for me, i didnt even practice it that much either. i would often do the dump and tap the knee instead of scooping it like a standard firemans

    This is a great series. When you fake drag or they stuff it, and you transition into a fireman's attempt and they stuff the fireman's, you're still deep enough that they they walk right into this dump. There's no great counter other than just preventing you from ever getting the two on one to begin with. And a lot of times people feel safe with the underhook when they're just not. As soon as the elbow gets trapped to the body, you lose all your "good" options. Even if you power out somehow just pulling back and up, they can just let go and switch to an outside ankle pick to single while your momentum is going the wrong way, and they're super deep before they even shoot.

    It was definitely part of my go-to series when I wrestled. I'm surprised nobody in the comments has mentioned a really great counter to the counter @2:44 . At my school we called it the Crusher, which is part of the series. When your opponent blocks to the inside of your knee, you reverse-hook that arm above the elbow with your off arm and grab the wrist of the first arm you have in the fireman's hold, which creates a lock. Then you roll him the other direction while pulling his elbow you have hooked. If you have it good and tight, your shoulder will be right in the center of his chest - hence the name Crusher. Now the arm that previously had the fireman's is free to grab behind his knee and elevate for the pin.

    • @matjul2008
      @matjul2008 2 года назад +2

      Any chance you could post a short video of the Crusher?

    • @dvdly
      @dvdly 2 года назад +2

      @matjul2008 I'd thought about that, but since no one responded, just kind of forgot. I need to find someone to do it with me, which is not as easy as it sounds. I was kind of surprised not even our host here mentioned this move, especially because he's so high on the fireman's series, or whatever one calls it, but thinking more about it, I only ever saw guys on my team use it, so maybe it's virtually unknown, though that's hard to believe.
      For more general info: I had never heard it called a "barrel roll" until I made friends with someone I'd wrestled from another school. We were talking and he said, "You really got me with those barrel rolls." I had rolled him the traditional direction the first time (sitting out and pulling the fireman's arm) and got the takedown and back points. Then, the second time he blocked with his hand (as at @2:44 ) and I hooked the arm and sat the other way for another takedown and back points. The only reason I didn't stick him was his brute strength. I don't think there's any other defense against it once it's locked up. At least not if you're experienced and don't make the mistake of sitting toward your opponent.
      At my school the series was called "Kelly's" (no idea why, or who that is, but googling it's proved pointless) and the hook to the crusher we called a "Hobbes' hook" (again, no idea who that might be or if I'm even spelling it right).
      I'll try to put together a minute or so video when I get time, preferably if I can find someone. Thing is, I never thought I'd be watching college wrestling videos more than thirty years after I'd ever been on a mat. I love this channel, too.

    Makes sense fundamentally. You get into a front headlock and more than often you're gonna be bent over with all their weight on you. If their weight is not on you then they're bullshitting and you're bullshitting. But it seems like the key is to hold onto the tricep for dear life and create enough torque to dump. Seems fool proof if mastered

    Also, your content is great

    • @earnyourgold
      @earnyourgold  2 года назад +5

      I wish I could give you a more direct answer, but I can’t. My honest opinion is once you learn one, getting good at the other two doesn’t require much more effort because you already have the base down. Because of this, instead of spamming one of them and being super predictable and less flexible, knowing all 3 will allow you to pick which one best fits that situation, therefore making it higher percentage

    • @earnyourgold
      @earnyourgold  2 года назад +1

      I’m saying if you know all 3 of them, they’re all be high percentage because let’s say you force a near leg dump when the far leg was the one that was open. And vice versa. The dump was there, just not the one that you were looking for. That’s why you should be able to do at least 2 of them, if not all 3.
