Love the new echo show 15. I discovered you can also connect a wireless keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth. Makes things so much easier. Also recommend wall mounting it.
I've seen a number of reviews and most of them have come to the same conclusion, that it's a good start but not quite ready for prime time. I think a few more software updates that will provide better layouts and widgets and an upgraded camera, and speakers then they will have something exceptional but for now it's just a good start. Thank you for your hard work putting these videos together.
I have watched this video a few times. I have ordered one, but I don't know if I will be happy with it. The smart home is what I was looking for. The sound is definitely thin. Can you add external speakers to this?
I have some of the same comments with my Echo Show 15. It would nice to be able to have the art/photos rotate through images MUCH slower and for the widgets to appear when it sense you nearby. This really needs to be addressed. Also, widgets need to be expanded with 3rd party. And smart home control needs to be adapted for the screen size.
We like our Show 15 too. I bought it because the kids can see calendar items all the time, and I've been wanting a smart screen I can wall mount. I do wish the smart home control parts were better too.
I just got my Show 15 yesterday. I love the sticky notes feature. The speakers unfortunley doesn't seem loud enough. My Echo Show 10 (Old Echo 10) can get so loud you don't want to max it out. I'm using that in the bedroom now and the 15 in the kitchen.
Wow! I can't thank you enough for this info! I was literally searching for local stores that carry the 15 so I could buy 2 today, which I've been looking forward to. I automatically assumed EVERYTHING would be a step up from the 10, which I would've replaced both 10's in my home with the 15. Wheew! Your info spared me two returns back to the store!
Yep we have three of those in our house. It only accepts so many widgets and it's a little tinty sounding during movies or music. But is is not horribly bad. Lucky for us we also have two echo 8s, plus a fireTV, a recast and well... we got the tablets too. We have two bed rooms with the 8s and the 15s are kitchen living room, dinning area. It probably is overkill but who cares if it is. We have a 15 on the wall and yes I love it on the wall, and the other two are on desk and entertainment center. I like the one on the wall the best. But I have to warn you if you want it on the wall do some measuring height wise. If everyone is 5`5 don't put it 6 feet off the floor. Because occasionally you do have to do some swiping instead of voice commands. So make sure everyone can do the swipes before you mount it on the wall 6 feet in the air.
Great video, very comprehensive. Do you know whether Widgets are available on the Show 8 yet please? I'm mainly after Calendar, Weather and Shopping List info display. With photos option too
Question, not a comment (sorry): How is this as a video call device? We'd like to be able to video call my 98-yr-old mother-in-law but the unit has to be super easy for her to use. She suffers from macular degeneration and is hearing impaired. So, we need a unit that she can say things like: "Alexa, call Sandra", "Alexa, call Jillian", "Alexa, answer the phone (or call)", "Alexa, show my pictures", etc., rather than having to control the device using the screen. We also need something that has a large screen, so she can see it well. Is this a contender or do we continue to wait. I've tailored her smart phone to be able to call by clicking on a contact's photo and that works well (MadContactsFree) and a large keypad (Simple Dialer). Playing her voicemail, however, is out of her league. We simply DON'T want anything that will be too confusing but we do want something to make the calls more personal.
You said it isn't a dashboard, would it be possible to make a future video on the best out of the box dashboards? Something to "plug in and play". I enjoy your videos and channel. Thanks.
Thanks for this Craig! I have ordered one now. One thing I found is that you if you go into settings, and then alexa preferences, then photos, then photo slideshow you can alter the settings for the speed of photo rotation - only thing is, this doesn't seem to work properly - although I did find that choosing fast (6 seconds) the photos don't change very often at all, definitely not every 6 seconds! Maybe like every minute?? This is obviously an error with the programming, but for now, it seems to work! (btw this was on my echo show 8 1st gen, I don't know if the same happens on the new echo show 15....
thanx for your video - my question: have you tried silk on the echo 15 - is it working on the device? I use the echo show 8 with silk to open my dashboard - will this work ?
I have uploaded photos and videos to my album and sync'd to the echo show , but it only is displaying the pictures. Used an iphone with MOV file type is there a way to play video clips back from the album? thanks!
Hey Craig, I’ve a question and hope you can help test this as I can’t find an answer anywhere. Can the show 15 be mounted vertical on the counter stand with the camera placed down at the bottom corner and still function correctly. (Reason being where I intend to mount this at an angle I’ve a strong feeling my kitchen units will block camera visibility with the camera up top of the frame.
I have been recently getting into the smart home stuff...I am running across an issue where all my smart light bulbs are unresponsive. I have tried to turn them off at the source for a while before turning them back on and nothing happened. I have fully reset them, but they are still unresponsive. Can you help?
I just tested mine with my Ring doorbell. The image does come up full screen. Be sure that "doorbell press announcements" is enabled in the Ring Door bell "camera" and that the Echo Show 15 is an announcement device
That looks really good, I'm seriously considering one as a dedicated dashboard, but still trying to sort out the simple and frustrating stuff first; conflictions between devices etc. Echo 4 arrives today, so hopefully that will sort out my problem.
I would like to see the Blink camera app, because the Blink camera doesn't always sync for viewing on the Amazon Echo 15. There should more sizing for widgets to make them all small or large.
i am looking for one to do videos with my dad. he has dementia, and unable to answer phone so i thought i could do a drop video call. something bigger he could see easier, would this work.
Do I have to have multiple amazon accounts to add the calendars? I just need a family calendar but don't want to create multiple amazon accounts for it
Thank you very much Frank. That’s interesting that mine sounds different than yours. I wonder why that is? Since it’s a new product it may be worth looking at a replacement for it. I would also look at the screen in low light and see if there’s any screen bleeding that is too much. I had that with the echo show eight and ended up replacing that one.
If Amazon added Widget capability to Fire TVs, you could do some limited stuff at a bigger scale with primitive remote UI obviously. Voice might make it more useful than it sounds.
Got mine on launch day. Pretty good. But... the launch software is very very ropey indeed! So many glitches and things not quite working as they should - although im certain Amazon can and will update it soon its not the best first impression which is a shame.
Unfortunately, when the Fire TV upgrade happened on the show 15, I can no longer connect to my Fire TV Recast. As a result, no longer view local TV or my recorded content.
I like this for what it is, simple, useful for info and mainly out of the way when mounted on the wall. I wasn't expecting it to be like Jarvis from Iron Man so I really wasn't to disappointed with it. One question I have is about the usb port on the back, what's its purpose? Is it just an extra power port?
I don't recall you mentioning it. But how about a clock face? lol. I noticed it got bigger. like the show 5 does with the camera closed. But yeah. That's my big thing. Because i'm tired of clocks you have to reset the time when the power goes out. lol.
I might buy it if it’s $200 or less. At this price $249, They should put faster processor and more Ram so that can help with everything else. And give updates so that people can customize it. I believed Samsung had 17” tablet that’s much better value.
I am with you. Luckily there are other stands that bring the rotation. But they don’t compliment it as well as the bundled stand. Motion and proximity would be great.
I am now building a home and will go fully smart with light switches, audio system, curtains ,sensors ,tv and other stuff if possible. still making a list of things. This screen will look good on a wall or stand as a picture that can be used to control my home from it. will check the echo 10 but i think that one looks kind of ugly with hunchback .

I have the Echo Show 15 and I cannot get the Smart Home Widget to load my favorites. I can go to the Smart Home button in the drop down menu which takes me to the full screen display of my devices. This will display my Smart Home Devices just fine. The widget attempts to find the Smart Home Devices but always fails to load them. Instead it displays a message to "remove the widget and try to add it again". I asked a question on the Amazon forum about this problem. They made a couple of suggestions. One was were to tell the Echo Shoe 15 to add the widget rather than using the widget gallery. The other suggestion was to unplug the Echo Show 15 and then plug it back in to reboot it. I tried both suggestions and neither of them worked. So far Amazon has not given me any other suggestions to try. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so, have you found a solution to it?
Basic multitasking needs improvement. Watching a movie then asking Alexa to do something is a mess. The screen changes and you lose the part your show.
Can I send sticky widget notes and set up reminders remotely for a member of my family on this Echo Show 15 device using my Alexa smartphone app while I am out of the country? Ex. Mom's appointments, taking supplements, etc.
Absolutely love mine, dont get the hate at all, not as good as an ipad but that is nkt what it is designed for. Perfect for what it is, a kitchen dashboard.
One thing I don't like about the weather widgit is the 7 day forcast only shows the high temperatures and not low temperatures. You get high temeperatures and rain chance percentages only along with the forcast for the 7 days.
The ring doorbells will pop up on Echo Shows when someone rings the doorbell. So you can check the doorbell with this. You can ask to see the Ring cameras too.
The thing that makes me want to smash my 8" Show against the wall are the ads. You can turn all the Amazon's switches off and yet they still come. The constant eye catching flipping of useless info coming on the screen repeatedly all day long drives me crazy. This looks like it this bigger screen will trigger me even more and allow them more of the advertising license that I hate. I would end using this for something I need and then it would be "Alexa Turn the screen off". I'd bet anything you can't turn all the widgets off.
I'm better served with a mounted 15inch or larger PC touchscreen monitor (with RJ45 video extender cable) displaying Amazon Alexa and Google calendar. I have too many obstinate Echo devices already and 5" to 8" Echo screens that cannot be customized to remove that unwanted "Try this" advertising. The last thing I need Echo for, is to tell me jokes. I also have two comparable Google devices and find the information retrieval much more accurate.
im not sure if im getting good impression on these videos but the screen looks a bit laggy...im not sure if its the right word since english isnt my native language but...it just doesnt feel snappy/responsive at all
Got one for the kitchen. Unimpressed. Slow to respond and I've been looking to find out if I can use it to trigger the lights on/off when entering/leaving the room. About the only consistent thing with this is it's handy for displaying recipes.
It’s a touchscreen meant for touch. You may not see it that way. But, you can’t justify a slow touchscreen and bad interface by saying it’s meant to be voice and it’s not a tablet. We have moved on beyond it being a speaker or a tablet. It is it’s own device that is in the middle that is not laid out well for the touch options Amazon put out there. Amazon has shown it’s not just a voice only device. They just didn’t do it well. Thanks for watching
What continues to baffle me is why can echo shows not change brightness visually as a group. I can say Alexa turn the living rooms lights to 50% but must turn lights individually by touch. Google has had this for years and it's really annoying!!!
That would be nice. Best case will be that they allow you to make your own through them. They are keeping things closed. I think each move they make tightens up their echo system. Thanks for watching.
My issues with Amazon’s echo show is now they force you into seeing their ads, and Amazon content which is annoying. I really liked mine until they forced this. In terms of the design …. Amazon needs to step it up, this isn’t clean at all. Laggy UI 😕
Love the new echo show 15. I discovered you can also connect a wireless keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth. Makes things so much easier. Also recommend wall mounting it.
I would like to see a Ring security widget, basically the ring home app with the cameras refreshing.
Same here I’m getting one of these for my grandparents
That is a great suggestion Mo. I like that. I think others would appreciate that too.
I was just going to ask the same thing. It would be neat to have a live view of all of your cameras at the same time.
Would like to see how multiple cameras work on this device.
There is a Blink widget as of today.

I would consider mounting the echo show 15 on my fridge. Does the mount hold safely even if I slam the door?
You would ha e to screw the mount into your fridge
I will love this on my bedroom wall (nest to my bed) as I already have echo show 5 on my work desk and find that very useful.
We like our Show 15 too. I bought it because the kids can see calendar items all the time, and I've been wanting a smart screen I can wall mount. I do wish the smart home control parts were better too.

Best Echo Show 15 review. Thank you
You didn't mention it, but can it actually record video if someone enters your home in guard mode and you're not available to drop in?
The only thing I can think of using this thing for. Is to watch recipes while I'm cooking.
Do I have to have multiple amazon accounts to add the calendars? I just need a family calendar but don't want to create multiple amazon accounts for it
No you don’t need multiple accounts. You share your calendar within the Alexa app.
Great review of + & - Yours sounds much better than mine
Im unimpressed with the sound quality of mine mounted on the wall - No better than the echo dot
Thank you very much Frank. That’s interesting that mine sounds different than yours. I wonder why that is? Since it’s a new product it may be worth looking at a replacement for it. Is this Amazon Echo show 15 powered by mediatek as well?
How much internal memory does it have, can we able to connect pen drive to this

Too bad it doesn’t do a smart home dashboard, that would’ve made it much better device.
Can you resize the widget side of the screen so it's only showing 1 column of widgets and the rest of the screen is displaying pictures /clock
No you cannot. They left portion is really meant to be the standard echo show screen. It would be nice if you could.

Thank you very much. You are too kind. I appreciate you watching
Can you provide a link to the stand
1) It needs to rotate 2) it needs a proximity/motion sensor to turn off/on depending on settings time of day. :)
I am with you. Luckily there are other stands that bring the rotation. But they don’t compliment it as well as the bundled stand. Motion and proximity would be great.

It connects to the calendars setup within the Alexa app. You can connect certain services under settings.

The ring doorbells will pop up on Echo Shows when someone rings the doorbell. So you can check the doorbell with this. You can ask to see the Ring cameras too.
If you put this in smart home mode will it stay on the screen?
No it does not stay on. Only videos keep
It from timing out and going to the home screen.
I used a Screen Caddy (I had bought on clearance for $4.00) for desk stand horizontal. Blaaaa $30+
Does it have an audio out jack?
No, just bluetooth
It seems a bit expensive just for another Echo Show. Maybe better if Amazon produced a larger tablet with better speakers.
The thing that makes me want to smash my 8" Show against the wall are the ads. You can turn all the Amazon's switches off and yet they still come. I am with you. Once you do get a clear screen, they make a new window that is turned on by default. Now random pop up ads.
I do not like that I can’t get more than one blink live stream at a time. Anyway know how to get that?
Unfortunately not. It is one camera at a time.
I'd like to be able to say "Alexa, turn off my bedroom light in 15 minutes." As it is, you can only tell it to do a thing at that moment.
"alexa, set a 15 minute sleep timer for bedroom light"
You can only set 1 sleep timer at a time.
Thank you elon for reviewing amzon echo show 😅
im not sure if im getting good impression on these videos but the screen looks a bit laggy...im not sure if its the right word since english isnt my native language but...it just doesnt feel snappy/responsive at all
Got one for the kitchen. Unimpressed. Slow to respond and I've been looking to find out if I can use it to trigger the lights on/off when entering/leaving the room. About the only consistent thing with this is it's handy for displaying recipes.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I can see what you are saying. It can be very slow.
What they need is a raspberry pi size hub that can connect to a lager touchscreen
One feature I think I'll like is the shopping list widgit so I can continuesly view my shopping list rather then having to ask Alexa to show it to me.
Purchase an Amazon HD 10 tablet plus instead...own both.
We should not forget that Echo show are made for voice control. It's not a tablet... It's a voice control interface with visual feedback
@@CraigsTechTalk I don't agree, but it's ok, I respect your opinion.
Thanks Jean, I can respect yours too. Have a good day.
Good review. I really don't understand why widgets cannot be expanded to 2x or 4x size. Especially referring to smart home usage. Wake up
Amazon!
Thank you Teemu. I don’t get it either. So much potential
What continues to baffle me is why can echo shows not change brightness visually as a group. I can say Alexa turn the living rooms lights to 50% but must turn lights individually by touch. Google has had this for years and it's really annoying!!!
I love mine
Good to hear. Thanks for watching.
I would like to see Amazon make it open source, so people can create widgets
That would be nice. Best case will be that they allow you to make your own through them. They are keeping things closed. I think each move they make tightens up their echo system. Thanks for watching.
anyone realise how it says its 60 degrees on the home screen?
Only would buy it for ring security camera 🤷🏽♂️
I want to create my own widgets...and control how often a widget is updated...and...and...and
My issues with Amazon’s echo show is now they force you into seeing their ads, and Amazon content which is annoying. I really liked mine until they forced this.
In terms of the design …. Amazon needs to step it up, this isn’t clean at all. Laggy UI 😕
Yes I don't like that cause I like to see the photos and pictures.
Can I just use this as a Photo Frame and nothing else?
You can turn on photo frame and it stays that way until you tell it to turn off.
