Speaker Mike Johnson on the Threats to the US Led World Order

  • The threats to the United States and the US-led international order are growing increasingly hostile. The Chinese Communist Party seeks to supplant the United States as the preeminent global power is forming an economic bloc of partners and quickly building its up military to threaten and coerce the US and its allies. Russia initiated the largest land war in Europe since World War II with its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Iran launched an unprecedented direct attack against Israel and is funding proxy attacks against the United States and its allies. These authoritarian countries, and their proxies, have expansionist goals and are collaborating to harm the United States and subvert its global influence.
Join Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senior Fellow Rebeccah Heinrichs for a discussion about the speaker’s agenda to bolster the credibility of US deterrence, strengthen alliances, improve America’s hard power, and maintain freedom, security, and prosperity for the American people.

Your prayer will lead you to hell. Listen what he’s saying. You guys all brain washed. Why not a single politician to talk about how to fix America’s real issue. Why there’s no one says to stop printing money. Maybe you need a more IQ to think about this. This government is screwed up USA now they need a war to drive peoples attention and relatives will die for this.

China must recognize that the United States and its allies currently possess escalation dominance, particularly in the nuclear domain, and any potential conflict would likely unfold in close proximity to Chinese territory. To counter this strategic imbalance, Beijing should accelerate the expansion of its nuclear deterrent capabilities and delivery systems. The persistent provocations and destabilizing actions of Western nations, led by the increasingly erratic and declining United States, can only be curtailed when they face the stark reality of a nuclear power parity. Achieving such a balance would compel Washington and its allies to reconsider their aggressive postures and destabilizing policies. By rapidly enhancing its nuclear arsenal and delivery mechanisms, China can ensure its national security and stability, effectively deterring any attempts at coercion or military adventurism by the West. This strategic enhancement would signal to the international community that Beijing is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and interests, thus promoting a more balanced and multipolar global order.

Hudson Institute just showed the public how lost our politicians are in this regard. Speaker Johnson keeps invigorating the idea that Trump had a solid foreign policy,
"Remember when trump this...." BUT do you ACTUALLY remember when Donald Trump threatned our enemies on twitter?? What kind of foreign policy is that. I agree with him that the world is changing and our foreign policy needs to handle them before they get worse.

I came here to listen to a constructive assessment of the US security challenges, the outlook for tackling them, etc. from a man who is one of the top-level leaders of the country. Instead I heard anti-Democrats, pro-Trump monologue topped up with mentioning various sound principles of which at least half are being ignored by the very man mentioning them.
If anything, given the internal divisions and the words not followed by actions (on the contrary, doing the opposite), at the same time throwing some wishful thinking-driven slogans, he convinced me that the US is indeed in the process of decline from within, just like the Roman empire in the past. We might not see it in the next few years, the next decade, heck maybe not even in our lifetime. But at some point in the future hisotrians will look back at 2015-2025 and consider it as the pivotal and main driving moment of the beginning of the US decline. To what proportions the fault is on the Democrats' vs Republicans' side won't even matter, as in the end it will be the divisions, politics and lack of pragmatism on both sides that will lead to the long-term disaster. It's tragic, but at this point hard to avoid as far as I can see.

The security and balance of power arguments are compelling. However, I have serious doubts and reservations that Trump and his following can implement them. There are many good minds in the party; I wish they could select a leader that they themselves respect and admire. Furthermore, I keep looking for a broad, cohesive, and palpable strategy to counter the CCP, Putin, etc. but haven't seen one. I suppose these things take time and Hoover plays an important part.

Anticipating arguments about orthodox church in Ukraine:
I am russian and I want to tell you that russian orthodox church was absorbed by KGB back in 1930s and now is curated by FSB as well. Ukrainian government arresting priests of ukrainian orthodox church of Moscow patriarchate because they are commonly FSB agents and there's a lot of evidence of that in the public domain. Ukrainian orthodox church separated from Moscow patriarchate and that's one of the reasons why russian government promotes hatred against ukrainians.
Russian Federation is not conservative bastion, it is a s--thole.
There's still a big soviet cargo-cult, a huge number of communist toponyms and monuments, holidays and heritage.
Many of my co-citizens want soviet union back and nuke United States and Europe.
Migration crisis, high level of ethnic crime.
Chechens are more privileged than russian majority and have legal immunity.
Putin said he want more muslims in Russia.
Ukraine have problems, but they are deserve all your respect and help.
