- I decided that since Midnight Sun is coming out, I should take one for the team and rewatch Twilight. Is it as bad as we remember? Were we too harsh? Is it worth rewatching? All I can say is that it was a bit of a struggle.

Jackson Rathbone (he plays Jasper) is a very talented actor. I think his role in twilight was amazing. If you watch criminal minds season 4 ep 20, he plays a character with DID (dissociative identity disorder) also known as multiple personalities, he his betrayal of DID was very good and well done, it's too bad He's not in very many movies anymore but He's also a musician, and his music is very good!

Twilight really wasn’t that bad it’s honestly a guilty pleasure of mine to watch and it’s so much better than fifty shades of grey
It's about a >100 year old dude who's in love with a 17 year old, who's stalking her, sneaking into her bedroom without her permission to watch her sleep, and very clearly holds most of the power in their relationship. Later it just gets better by a young adult falling in love with a baby and starting to anticipate how they will spend their entire life together. Plus the world-building is incoherent, the story is incredibly unoriginal and the characters are utterly bland. How is any of that "not that bad"?

In the book they spent more time together getting to know each other. They drove together to school daily and asked question about the other. It's kinda sad they didn't put that in the movie cause now it is just weird that they are falling for each other after such short time

I mean, even in the book, they still don't know each other for that long. Like a week maybe? And then the day that they visit the meadow is the same day Bella needs to run for her life.

Why carlile turned edward: so basically carlisle had been alone for centuries at this point and his mother had asked him to save him any way possible with the implication that she KNEW what was on the up and up and he caved. He figured no one would notice him gone and he would finally not be alone, so he turned him.

The book is undeniably awkward, but I’ve been re-Reading them during lockdown after sheer boredom and I am STAGGERED at how much the film genuinely butchers them, even the bits that were semi butchered anyway

By the way, I didn't watch it entirely before writing my other comments, but a lot of how Bella interacts with others can be explained by social anxiety. I know it can looks exaggerated for someone who doesn't really experience it like this or at all but Bella embody how I was for most of life and still am sometime. I think it's very on point and realistic.

In the book, Carlisle was nursing Edward and his mother (Mrs. Mason). He knew that Mrs. Mason was going to die, and he did his best to make her comfortable in the days/hours leading up to her passing. Even through her raging fever (which should have made her delirious) she remained almost fully conscious and alert. Her last words were begging Carlisle to save her son, as though maybe- just maybe?- she knew or at least had an inkling of what Carlisle was. Carlisle has been depressed the last few decades, and craved for a sense of love, a family. Feeling responsible for Edward, he turned him in 1917.

for me twilight is fun and silly and nostalgic, but i maintain that the best way to watch it is to just stop at the end of the baseball scene. the bad guys ask to play and then you turn it off and just assume that everything went fine.

I personally always loved the twilight movies, I first watched them with my mom when I was like 12 years old (lol) and I still watch them from time to time. I know that some things come off as cringy or weird but it actually got so much potential, the whole vampire history is actually really interesting, and I think especially the first movie got such a nice aesthetic (like the woods, the rain etc.) ... I also really think the actresses did an amazing job, yes including Bella. (I have to say to this that I watch it in my native language and that might change things a bit as well.)

I absolutely loved your commentary. Twilight holds such a special place in my heart and it's kinda gotten to a point where I have to watch it every month or else I get super sad...yikes. but anyways its such an awkward movie and its absolutely ridiculous but like I guess the heart wants what the heart wants. (Team Edwardo all the way bby). But i will say the books make way more sense and they're relationship actually has some depth in the books. When Carlisle became a vampire he hated himself and tried to commit suicide but later accepted it and decided to help ppl by becoming a doctor. He was really lonely and wanted a companion but also realized it was selfish of him to turn someone immortal so he decided not to. But during the influenza Edward's mom was also dying of Spanish influenza and found out Carlisle was a vampire and her dying wish was for him to turn Edward into one.

(You can bring plants on a plane) Twilight is...cheesy? I'm not too sure how to describe it, the actings is good, the plots a bit off, but it's actually a good film. The plot is oddly placed and a bit un-realistic though.
i haven’t watched any twilight movies, but from your description and the clips you showed, it seems like bella may just be on the spectrum.
her lack of knowledge with social cues, plus her difficulties with motor function, along with her apathy to different situations that shouldn’t be treated as such, and her misunderstanding of people and the world around her. she also stares a lot, which some people with asd happen to do rather than avert eye contact... they just.. 👁👄👁 | the reason why she might have been so interested in edward and vampires even though they literally knew each other for like 2 seconds and only fight, might be because she had begun to hyper-fixate. autistics can have special interests of people-like me (heath ledger, gerard way, etc.)-but most of them find more broad topics intriguing (not trying to generalize, but that’s often how it is). i think bella became transfixed on vampires, therefore becoming very interested in edward. i love movies literally for the soul reason that heath ledger is in it (even though _the dark night_ and _ten things i hate about you_ are *chef’s kiss*). just some thoughts.

I realize much later that Bella was only as popular as she was due to circumstances. In small towns everyone wants to date the new girl even if she is not traditionally attractive. It’s the whole “new when there is no new”.
She is supposed to be plain, awkward, and tense. Kristen Stewart’s performance was spot on. Her being the new girl in a small town is the only instance where someone with her personality would be popular.

i really like how they depicted the teenagers in the film (not bella😬), like that one scene where the kid picks up a worm and goes “look bella , a worm” so enthusiastically is just so accurate to how my friends behave. bella on the other hand is annoying as fuck and i do not like her OR her creepy stalker boyfriend. Alice and Carlisle are the only redeemable vampires in my opinion 😭. also i HATE how Edward is all like “Bella stay away from me” yet he’s the one who’s always instigating conversation .
