Do you have to disconnect any terminals before doing this?

    • @golfcartresource4731

Hey Steve. You don't have to disconnect them. This was just a quick job to show the effects of Baking Soda and Water on Dirty Batteries and how well they clean them. If you want to do a thorough job, however, I would recommend disconnecting them and cleaning the terminal posts with a wire brush etc. Hope this information helps.

Aren't you afraid of the short-circuit in the batteries from rinsing off with so much water?

Hey Corujas! Thanks for the comment. I've been doing this for quite a few years now and have yet to experience that issue.

So long as there isn’t a load currently being out in the battery while it’s wet it should be ok. In other words have the key and any accessories off.

    Short circuited mine. Now what?

You must have some very special water because normal water is not a good enough conductor to cause a short circuit.

Would be nice to hear. I had my volume up all the way and just barely heard what you said

I would not risk shorting out your batteries by doing this. Remove the cables and clean them and the terminals carefully with a little baking soda and water. See the video below on what happens when you short battery terminals. Batteries are too expensive to take the risk.

It’s actually better to use a towel and wipe them down with the same water and baking soda mixture rather than pour it on
