There are numerous bad reports, reviews and videos about the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air. But is there any truth to these stories?
I went in search of the answer to this question and took a flight on Wizz Air.

Wizz Air, legally incorporated as Wizz Air Hungary Ltd. (Hungarian: Wizz Air Hungary Légiközlekedési Zrt.) is a Hungarian multinational ultra low-cost carrier with its head office in Budapest, Hungary. The airline serves many cities across Europe, as well as some destinations in North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. It has the largest fleet of any Hungarian airline, although it is not a flag carrier, and serves 54 countries. Its Jersey-based parent company, Wizz Air Holdings plc, is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. As of 2023, the airline has its largest bases at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport and London Luton Airport and flies to 194 airports.
The airline was established in September 2003. The lead investor is Indigo Partners, an American private equity firm specialising in transportation investments. The first flight was made from Katowice International Airport on 19 May 2004. The airline's CEO is József Váradi, former CEO of Malév Hungarian Airlines. The company is registered in Pest County, Hungary.
On 25 February 2015, Wizz Air shares began trading on the London Stock Exchange.
In November 2017, Wizz Air announced its planned launch of a British division called Wizz Air UK, based at London Luton mainly to take advantage of landing slots acquired when Monarch Airlines entered administration that year. The airline applied successfully to the CAA for an AOC and a Type A Operating Licence. The airline launched operations in March 2018 using British registered aircraft. Wizz Air UK was to start taking over UK-bound flights previously operated by Wizz Air, and plans called for the airline to employ up to 100 staff by the end of 2018.
In November 2018, Wizz Air announced plans to reactivate its Wizz Air Ukraine subsidiary, approximately three years after its closure. The airline would seek to complete certification in 2019 following the acquisition of twenty A320/321 neo jets. Bases were to be developed in Kyiv and cities across the country, with a planned passenger throughput of 6 million per annum by 2025.

I flew with Wizz in 2019, from Portugal to Austria. Had no problems, and the airplane was pretty new.
When I flew they delayed the 1st flight by 2 hours then cancelled the return flight, and the second return flight was delayed 2 hours again, they paid compensation to everyone on the flight 1 year late, they even got on the news for doing that
Never had problems with Wizz Air love them ❤
I have flown with wizzair over 100 times. First flight ever when they launched in 2004. You must really be unlucky to have any problem flying with them.

@@theRealJohnnyG. highly unlikely. I even wrote a letter to their head quarters. I’m the US it’s a law that they have to answer to all mailed written letters. But I’m not sure that works in Austria
@@alyowenspm I am sorry to hear that. Since Austria is in the EU you might consider services like Airhelp or Flightright. They will force your claim in your name and then take a cut of like 20-30% I think (only if you get the money).
I got half my money by using external sources
I've used them many times and never had any problems with online check inn or visa to be fair I never flow them in Europe always from Abu Dhabi to around central Asia or middle east county,s and they never asked to show any visa in Abu Dhabi at least me but yeah delays can happen
Happy to hear that you didn't have any bad experiences with them so far. Wether you need to show a visa or not depends on your nationality I think because I never had to show one either. The only time a Wizz Air flight was on time was also the only time I flew Wizz Air Abu Dhabi😂 Happy travels!
Flown wizz air 4 times. I personally have never had a problem with them.

The best low cost airline company in 2024 is Wizz Air,reliable and affordable 👌👏👏👏👏👏
I have been flown every year with Wizz in the last 6 years, withouth any problems. The airplane was always young, many times almost brand new, the cabin crew was always very kind. I had onle 2 haurs delay only once from London because the foggy weather, but other flights were cancelled. 100x better service compared to international trains.
funny, i had the exact opposite experience over and over again, extremely rude and loud staff, not focused at passengers. Old plane with Ukrainian texts on labels all over. Extremely slow and delayed. Horrible hard landing.
Extraordinary. I am flying with them in 3 weeks from London to Istanbul.

@@savaniharshil3339 Actually it was fine. No drama, straight forward. I don't know what the fuss is all about. Seats comfortable, I am 5 foot 9, if taller probably tight. Really can't say anything bad.

I still remember going with wizz air from berlin to tirana and the whole flight to there was only turbulence moving like hell the wings moving that i even thought the wings will fall off that i looked outside just once

Wizz Air charged me £25.00 just to book a seat! As if you can board a plane without a seat! Then charged me £6.00 booking fee for paying them £25.00. Wizz Air have a racketeer Al-Capone would be envious of.

I never pay to book a seat with Wizz Air. I allow them to allocate me a seat (which is for free) and I get a window seat almost every time. If not, then there's normally enough empty seats to move to a window seat. :)
If you choose not to pay your seat will be allocated randomly, every budget airline charges for seat selection

Make a video about how bad Wizz air is:
- Show that you don’t know how to proper check in online
- Half of the video is about the airport that has nothing to do with Wizz air
-Speak about problems that every company has (luggage problem)
-Say that the staff is pretty good and the toilet is clean
A 9 mins video with absolutely no secrets about Wizz air and actually praising the company

They charge $149.00 USD for a name modification.They get money charging a lot for everything else.

I had an issue with wizzair, i was going for a layover in riyadh to mumbai. All passengers were forced to pay a 120 usd visa on arrival. Illegal to board passengers without a visa 😂
It's not illegal because visa on arrival is available. The poor Indian's who use them to the Middle East don't bother to read visa entry requirements.

Wizz Air is a point to point carrier. If you are booking two flights, you need to make sure you can enter the layover country.
Wizzair is ok, i paid 10€ flight and everything worked, except check in. I had to try a few times on the phone but worked in the end. But when my train ride from the city to airport cost 11€ it's a joke😂how can can even happen.

Nice video 😃btw when u said every time i flew with them something went wrong, i thought it gonna be something technical on the plane, like turbulence, engine etc.. not their web page, but ur right, their page is worst. Regarding safety they are amazing, none of their planes had fatal crash ever 🤩 i flew with it once, it was awesome

@@alehnduvas It does happen but as far as I know "often" would be exaggerated. Delays however seem to be a big issue with Wizz Air.
@@theRealJohnnyG. thank you! Since I don't have much experience with these things (I am a beginner traveler), I don't know if canceled flights are, let's say, 1/30 or 1/1000. The only thing I know is that I have to return to work in time 😅
@@alehnduvas I understand, the thing is, you never know in advance😅 But I don't wnat to make you worry. In my life it happened maybe 3-4 times that a flight got canceled last minute. It happens less than if you take other modes of transport like bus or train, I'd say.

The cost of a plane ticket is 1000 1029 Canadian dollars, and this is considered a very cheap price. Do you have some instructions about this company regarding credibility and treatment? And I mean when we buy. Airplane card, is there a problem?
You're welcome. Please make sure that you are on the official website of wizzair (www.wizzair.com). As far as I know, Wizzair currently does not offer transatlantic routes. This is most likely a scam.

Yeah we had tickets from Dortmund to Fiumicino and back. When checking in at Fiumicino to get to Dortmund again, the shit started.
in the end we NEEDED TO REBUY our tickets to get into the same plane we had the initial tickets for. €240! EUROS! never had met such an Incompetent bunch than those at Wizzair Costumer support omg. PS informed my LEGAL AID over the situation to get this sorted.
Sorry to hear that, truly sucks. Cases like this unfortunately don't seem to be an exception with WIZZ Air.. Hope you'll get your money back! On an Intra-European flight, your chances aren't too bad if you have legal aid.

Terrible company. Hidden costs, terrible passenger service etc. Have a friend who used to be a pilot there and he told me they’re always fatigued, pressured to fly when not fit to fly etc.

Got only half my money from them its such a scam i had to use external sources to get my money back im still 200 euros out never again am i taking the flight even tho its the only company that flies to my home country from the closes airport
Sorry to hear that! It's true... their customer service department sucks. Barely got repllies and if I got one it wasn't exactly helpful. At least you got some of the money back by using the services of an external provider which, if you are flying outside of the EU or the US/Canada is basically impossible.

They should be investigated since customer service has a number that for every minute you pay , it takes around 3 minutes to get into a call and they always ask same stuff flight number and email and always its incorrect call back later so 10 minutes wasted and they already charged money for it after 3rd time they say we will give your money back month goes by nothing i thought im never getting my money back it was some website that i used and it got my money back

As a frequent enough flyer with Ryanair who has never flown with Wizzair, it seems that Wizzair are actually a lot worse, which is something I never thought I'd say

I've taken Wizz Air many many times, they only dealyed once for 6 hours, but generally I'm satisfied with them. I got a refund from the delay too.
What happened to you suitcase? Usually ground crews that handle your suitcases are separate companies.
Thx for sharing. The case of my new bag was broken, it was partialy open, scratched and a wheel broke off. I reported it right at teh baggage claim. They didn't work on my case. 2 weeks later when I returned to the airport they couldufind my case anymore and advised me to contact Wizz Air directly. Wizz Air told me that they can only help me If I have proof from a Swiss government agency that estimates the damaga value - after I asked them what agency would issue such a report they admitted not knowing about it's existence...😂

I've just had a cancellation. It's all very well of them to tell me to rebook, but I've already booked coach tickets and overnight accommodation - that can't be refunded - to coincide with the original booking, so I've lost about £80!

5:30 that's the subsidiary of WizzAir (they have 3 apart from the Hungarian Wizz). The Maltese subsidiary is okay, though. Brand new planes and everything went smoothly.
