Hello Stuart!!!! Im from spain and a spanish guitar player. Not a professional one, but as the best hobby in my life. I love your videos and I want to see more from you!!!!! :) Nice voice, nice explanations, nice tone and relaxing time listening to you :) Please, don't stop making your videos
You've also proved a theory ive had since junior high school: Heavy Metal has plenty of great songwriting, impeccable chord changes, emotive vocals & lyrics, and technical mastery of their chosen instrument. Its a shame that this theory has taken flight only so recently. You should be proud!! Sean Black
At school, circa 1994-1997 I repeatedly submitted maiden, Pantera, sabbath and machinehead lyrics for English homework if we had to write poems. Always got high marks. Luckily I was the only rocker in the class.
Stuart, You Weasted Years version is one of my best music for relaxing these days. Just today got the feeling, that I will learn it to play, in the last months I concentrated to electric guitar, this song will be perfect to push me back a bit to the acoustic "world". Thank You for Your songs, I'm waiting for the next covers :)
As a life-long Maiden fan, but a beginner guitar player, I was always scared of trying to learn their songs. But your beautiful arrangement and calm teaching style makes this timeless classic look easy. A big thank you, and keep up the good work!
No no no, learn their songs!!! I started out learning Maiden songs along with a few others and its an invaluable way to learn how to play and hear. Do not fear, pick up your guitar and DO IT! ❤️🎸
Haha, I watched your arrangement of this song and decided I wanted to play it. Imagine my delight to see that you came up in my search for a tutorial. :)
Stuart, dropping you a note to say how impressed/moved I was by your version of Wasted Years - it was brilliant. Both vocals and guitar are spot on. The fact that you've now uploaded a tutorial means I have no excuse in not trying to nail this one myself. Absolutely first class interpretation, mate - bloody well done! ❤
Thank you sir..This song and, oddly your version, grabs my heart. It inspired me to do the things that i sometimes take for granted, like spending time with the family and friends who could be gone forever in the blink of an eye. I have loved this song for decades, but somehow hearing it from you gave it a new perspective.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you like it and it gives me much pleasure to know I've helped just a little 😊 Thanks for listening and commenting it makes my day 😊 🎸
Thanks for taking the time to do this tutorial. I've heard this song countless times, but your version "struck a chord" with me . Well done good sir! Sitting with my guitar now practicing.
Thank you so much!! I’m picking up my guitar again after over a year because of seeing your wasted years version. I’m in love with it! So happy you did this!
Absolutely beautiful…..Thank you, Stuart! I am an advanced beginner, I understood everything! You opened my ears to strum’n around acoustically with great poetry rock songs! Great Job! Las Vegas, NV USA.
I've been listening to Iron Maiden most of my life, and this might be my favorite song of theirs. Your cover is one of the best I've ever heard. Very helpful tutorial for those who would like to try it themselves. Amazing job!
Oh my O my Mr. Clifford, I just blindly stumbled upon one of your videos (Waysted Years/Iron Maiden) and I still have the chills! Then "Needle and the Damage Done" by Neil Young. Now I gotta deal with the hairs on the back of my neck standing up!?! Thanks buddy. Now I'll never sleep tonight!! Cheers to you, my friend! Sean Black
Hello sir I commented before what a beautiful version you did if I may say I’ve been listening to iron maiden for my whole life it seems. There is something about your version that just makes some of the people who have commented including myself I think your version is such a wonderful piece I only want to hear yours now. Now the tutorial I will be on that one can only hope to do such a wonderful job thanks so much for sharing with us very nice of you. Have a great day!!
i like how that riff at the beginning really abolish in to the EMinor this song reminds me of Rory gallagher tattood lady backwards he plays EM C Dminor. I can understand where Iron maiden got their influences from and also Thin Lizzy Emerald Massacre. Rory gallagher plays the D open riffing kind of same but bit more lower down without hitting the high E string. Thanks for the lesson. Also the G part reminds me of Im a loner by kansas.
Hi Stuart. Excellent piece of work here. Thanks entirely to this tutorial I've been able to add this song to my repertoire. I've recently been looking for the sorts of songs that I hadn't normally played, and this one worked brilliantly. Love what you did with the opening riff and managed to get it down fairly quickly. Many thanks!
I really like this tutorial. I feel really confident in the intro, but I’m still trying to figure out the hybrid picking for the rest of the song. I don’t suppose you would make a supplemental video showing the finger picking for the body of the song. It’s really beautiful btw.
Thanks Tyler I'll have a think although my right hand finger technique is very free, not always using the same fingers for the same string etc. Anyway I'll give it some thought. Thanks for listening and commenting 😊
Thanks, Stuart - a very cool and reverent acoustic arrangement of a timeless rock anthem! Going to dig into this just as soon as my new parlor guitar gets back from the luthier!
Wow. I was going to ask you for tabs and then i seen this. You have done me one better and made my for seeable future thank you again! Keeo them coming by the way you are great at what you do🎉
Hello Stuart, First may i say how i really enjoyed your version of this song. I can't stop listening to it. Thank you for making this tutorial🙏. I'm going to have so much fun trying to learn it. I'll be playing it on my baritone ukulele. Greetings from a Dutchman.
Thanks Dennis. A bit like patting your head and rubbing your tummy 😀. It's nice to help people along and spread the joy of learning music. Thanks for listening and commenting it makes my day 😊 🎸
Stuart, thank you so much. When I saw your acoustic version i was blown away and wanted to learn the same version but couldnt find it. Now, half a year later I looked again and there it is. Made me really happy! One question though: In your "playthrough" you use a capo, but not here in the tutorial. Why is that? Best regards from Germany
Dankeschon from England. It's very simple, in the tutorial I didn't want to cause confusion with fret numbers, so I left the capo off. In the full version, I need the capo to match my own voice. It's a very personal individual choice as to where to place a capo, according to one's own vocal range. But the techniques are just the same, capo or not. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for listening and commenting it makes my day 🙂 🎸
Yes, totally make sense. Thanks for answering, really appreciate it. Its very helpful for someone who learns guitar only from youtube videos. Looking forward to see more from you!@@stuartclifford8795
I want to thank you for making me feel young again ,I immediately rushed and grabbed my one of my acoustics, silly me this one is tuned to open G ,I thought to myself I don't suck this bad and then I realized I had the wrong guitar lol😅 I've shared you on my facebook, cheers mate
