    Joe, I love your content and your idea….but if we know anything about this team, it’s that they will never make a mid season move like this. We just saw the same thing with Myles Murphy getting 14 snaps against the Ravens with a 33% pressure rate and yet he got less playing time than Ossai and Rankins. They are to reliant on veterans and as Mike Santagana states in his blog, coaches are in the business of fielding what they feel is the best team every given week. As long as the Bengals playoff hopes are hanging by a thread, they won’t let the new guard take over.

    They need to just get a tackle with the highest ras score profile in the first round and put them all in guard or center lol
    I read somewhere that packers office employ that draft strategy for decades. They just get the best tackle available and put them anywhere on the Oline

    Something to think about is that Frank Pollack was known for running a wide zone scheme and that's why he was brought in. However, the Bengals don't run wide zone at all.

      The only time Frank Pollack had a good Oline was when he took over Dallas's #1 offensive line. They got worse EVERY year under him which is why he was fired after year 3. He's NOT a good Oline coach...

    Volsons PFF grade is higher than Cappas. Cappa hasn’t been good this year and we have him under contract for another year. After Jaxson Kirkland is better and back I would move him to RG. He can play both guard spots and both tackle spots. Volson has actually gotten progressively better and better each year. His first season ended with a grade of 52.8. Not great. His second season last year ended with a grade of 58.9. Significantly better. The last time I checked his grade was 63.3. That’s clear progressive steady improvement. Has he had some bad games mixed in there? Of course he has all offensive linemen do. The problem is the NFL doesn’t let these guys come into the building in the offseason and practice together. That makes 0 sense to me. Why would you want players practicing?

    We have the worst offensive & defense lines in the league

    • @NathanDean79
      @NathanDean79 День назад +1

      @@aaronburgess4442 lol no we don’t have the worst offensive line in the league. Not even close. We are probably around 20th or so. Earlier this year when Orlando was playing we were even better. Run blocking has been the main problem with our line. And Defensive lines we have a top 5 edge rusher who is at the top of the defensive player of the year conversation right now and BJ Hill isn’t a superstar or even a star but he is a very solid dependable player who at his best is above average and at his worst is average. Hubbard was hurt the first month of the year and playing through it. Sam was drafted in 2018. Of ALL the edge players drafted out of that 2018 class guess which one has the most tackle, the most sacks, and the most forced fumbles? Sam Hubbard. Rankins has been a disappointment. Kris Jenkins is going to be a fuckin beast trust me. McKinley Jackson is going to develop into a nice nose tackle a la DJ Reader. Jackson played in the SEC for Texas A&M for 4 years. He was a 2 year starter. He has seen the best offensive linemen in college football. He was prepared when he got here. The injury at the beginning set him back somewhat. I still have faith in Joseph Ossai. He was all over Lamar Jackson last week. 6 pressures 1 QB hit. Did you know the only one who got a hit on Lamar was Joseph Ossai? It’s true. A reporter asked Lou why they are playing Ossai more snaps than Murphy. He said because he is playing well. He is generating pressure and he is making tackles and stops In the run game. Murphy is still young so I’m not worried right now that he is t one of the best edge players in the league. Cedric Johnson was a fantastic pick in round 6. He is another SEC starter from Ole Miss. He can get after the QB. Next year Cam Sample willl be back and I have a feeling he is going to come back very strong. With something to prove. My prediction is or what I would do if I were in charge would be to offer BJ Hill a 2 year deal at the end of the year and cut Rankins. Unless Rankins just goes off in the last 7 games. And I would draft another DT in either the 1st or second round again this year. And I think the Bengals will keep either Ossai or Sample next year. If Ossai goes off or gets 4 or 5 sacks and a forced fumble to go with all the tackles he has already made that could cause them to want to keep him on a 1 year deal. Not league minimum but close to it. 2 mil a year or something. The problem with evaluating guys like Ossai and Murphy is they don’t get enough snaps to get into a rhythm. Hendrickson can play as much as he wants too. He plays 70% of the snaps. I would start giving more of Hubbards snaps to Ossai and Murphy. But if Murphy is only getting 13 snaps a game and 7 of them are true pass set snaps that’s just not enough data to evaluate anyone. I thought Myles looked the part this year. He definitely looked harder than last year. Last year he had a lot of baby fat on him that he shed in the offseason. I’m still sticking with my prediction. The future starting Edges for this team will be Ossai and Murphy. Bengals had better get busy securing Hendrickson and Chase. In the offseason I would cut Geno Stone first and then Rankins if he doesn’t straighten up and Zach Moss. I would draft another RB next year too. I would draft a RB almost every year just like the 49ers do. Eventually you are going to hit on a good one. Chase Brown looks like he is one of the good ones. He has 500 rushing yards 5 tds 30 catches for 150 yards and 2 tds already. If he doesn’t reach 1000 yards rushing he will have 1000 scrimmage yards and he is running for 4.4 yards per carry. Pretty darn good if you ask me. And still 7 games to go.

    Having a 53rd and 54rth ranked guard is not a talent issue. It's a scheme/coaching issue. The empty/shotgun concept is a bigger liability than anything. Early in the season the Bengals dabbled a bit with under center play and everyone remarked about how much better the OL looked. Then they completely stopped and went pure empty all the way up until now. It was the same story last year with Burrow. Then he got injured, Browning came in, played under center and suddenly the offensive line looked productive again... if only they had slightly better QB to play under center then...
    Burrow needs to learn how to play under center. It's the only way to salvage this offensive line, his health and season and quite possibly his career longevity. You can play musical chairs all day. It doesn't matter. It's the scheme. It's going to be impossible for any collection of 5 players to hold up to the demands of this silly offense. Burrow gets injured just about every season and they JUST. KEEP. DOING. THE. SAME. THINGS! At some point you just have to be morbidly satisfied at the destruction their insanity causes. And yes, Burrow is AS RESPONSIBLE AS ANYONE for it.

    • @Montrovantis
      @Montrovantis 58 минут назад

      @@utrainstinctisgodly7042 nonsense. This is a top scoring offense. Burrow is still getting hit a lot and it falls apart in the clutch. You're just repeating words that are repeated. The offense puts up points, but it's reckless, erratic and is prone to getting Burrow injured because they have no run game to force defenses to ease up. It is completely 1 dimensional. It is not good. In their highest scoring games they still lose because the defense is bad AND the offense doesn't exhibit safety or control. In both losses against the Ravens, for instance, it was the Bengals offense committing the big moment turnover which completely swung the momentum of the game. A pick 6 by Burrow and a fumble to let the Ravens score 7.
      The Bengals are tied for the 2nd worst team for fumbles in the league and Burrow's interceptions have been some of the worst and most costly turnovers the team has given away.

    @ovazellus3794 День назад +3

    Well that could help the O-line but that does not help a defense that can't stop anyone. We needed a pass rusher and a shutdown CB and the front office failed to get it. Even if you had to trade Tee to get it done. Because Tee is just going to walk away and we get nothing for him stupid front office moves. They will never change this is why we suck as a franchise. They let this defense erode since we made the Superbowl. They never replaced Bates, Reader, Cheetah, Bell's over the hill, Hilton is getting old and regressing and every player we've brought in is a downgrade who they replaced. Most of them wouldn't even be starters for other teams.

      We need a pass rusher...but it needs to be an Interior ( DT ) guy. If we could get push on the pocket up the middle ( so QB's can't step up ) our edge guys sack totals would go up. It won't help a lot to get another Edge guy if you're not getting any push from the middle.

  • @NathanDean79
    @NathanDean79 День назад

    But yes love the Mike Lee idea. He could have started on day 1. Only problem is he has always played center so we would have to move Ted over. First I would have a sit down with Mr Volson and Mr Cappa and tell them to get their heads out of their asses or one of them will be sitting on the bench. I would tell them what we are thinking of doing. A come to Jesus meeting if you will. That could give them the inspiration they need to play better. Oh and next year Frank Pollock would be history. History. Amarius Mims is playing well for a rookie tackle with only 7 games of experience. He is only 21 years old. He is grading out at 58.8 now but has had games where he has graded a lot better. But his run blocking grade currently is 70.4 which is good.

      Agreed, I floated this idea in training camp...I have NO idea why they didn't attempt it. Especially when your franchise QB has a $ 175 Mil. GUARANTEED contract ! protecting him should be priority # 1 !

      On BOTH sides of the ball ! Everyone bitches about the Bengals ( aside from Trey Hendrickson ) having low sack totals. The interior line is a big reason why. Your Edge guys can get a great jump at the snap and beat their man quickly BUT, if the interior line gets NO push the QB can just step up in the pocket and avoid the sack. I'd LOVE to see the sack numbers Hendrickson could put up if we had DT's that could push the pocket !

How he’s a worse pass blocker than Volson is still debatable but I’ve seen enough of both to know as much as I’ve complained about Volson over the last few years Cappa is still hands down the worse of the two. Cappa and his chicken legs get pushed back in Burrow’s face waaaay too easy, it’s embarrassing we still let him play.
