The offense needs more than Joe, Ja'Marr, and Tee. The TE group has almost zero, and the RBs have not much, either. The highly vaunted rookie Germaine Buton was a healthy scratch 2 weeks ago, and dressed but did not play against the Browns. Charlie Jones did not get any snaps from scrimmage either. I mean WTF?

It makes perfect sense. Burrow cannot/will not play under center and the RB has to run 6 yards just to break even. It's the idiotic sgun offense. It's just inept offensive design. The question is, who is to blame? I remember interviews early on when Burrow was drafted that Taylor and Burrow were essentially equals in designing the offense around what Burrow was comfortable running. Teams have essentially figured out the sgun screen game. The answer is obvious: Play under center, diversify your scheme, force defenses to have to respect multiple threats. The silly sgun offense should be used only after they've established a willingness to line up under center and force the defense to play in a box. This offense looked its most proficient when Burrow played under center. We noticed the same thing when Browning came in last year. Suddenly the offensive line was much improved, they could run straight up, and more traditional approach allowed them to use a more sound play book.

Is it just me, or does Joe hold onto the ball waaaaay too long? Sure, he does make some big plays scrambling sometimes, but he also takes a lot of sacks and sometimes at key moments in games. Why doesn’t he just take the short passes? Put the ball in your playmakers’ hands! Let them yac it up. Seems like he’s got too much expectation on himself to do it all and that’s not smart.

Its almost like they fall to the level of whoever they're playing, does that make sense? Like everyone at every position is doing just enough to get by and it shows. There is zero consistency. This doesn’t make sense . Different problems every week ! The opponents get paid too. Daniel Jones wasn’t the issue . The Giants defense is pretty good. Especially their D line. It’s a little disappointing the improved o line didn’t look that great. But it’s a different challenge every week for every team.

Yes Bates is part of the reason the defense sucks. I didn’t like the Geno Stone signing. He sucks. But Jordan Battle is a baller. He made the All Rookie team last year just like Bates did in 2018. Battle was PFF’s 5th highest graded safety in the NFL last year. Why aren’t they playing him? Good question. Bell has been getting cooked every week. And Dax Hill played Nickel CB at Michigan. He had never taken a snap as a free safety in his life. It’s not his fault that the coaching staff doesn’t know what the fuck they are doing. And Dax’s numbers last year looked almost identical to Bates numbers in 2018. Yes they do. Sit them down beside each other and you will see what I mean.

Their LBs are in fact FAST. Germaine Pratt is 6’3’’ 250 and runs 4.57. Logan Wilson is 6’2’’ 245 and runs 4.63. Akeem Davis Gaither is 6’2’’ 238 and runs 4.55. So we have 2 4.5 linebackers and Logan Wilson is faster than average. Ngonhmetta is a little slow at 4.80.

It never fails to shock me how even people from Cincinnati, like yourself, don’t know or don’t remember that Jessie Bates was a 2nd team All Pro in 2020. He was also a PFF 1st Team All Pro in 2020. He was PFFs highest graded safety that year.

Dude Jessie Bates was not snubbed in 2020. He was 2nd team All Pro in 2020. That’s far better and far more prestigious than the fucking Pro Bowl.

So let’s get this straight - Glass Joe has let the team down also. He’s had multiple years of slow starts and injuries that have also negatively impacted the team. This doesn’t forgive the defense in any way, but in the end it has to be a total team effort.

Agreed. Basically the Bengals are a poorly run franchise and owned by one of the poorer owners in the league. Both Mike Brown and Mark Davis of the Raiders get their money from their teams as opposed to most of the other owners who were filthy rich when they got their teams. I get it about the "cap" but Brown and Davis can never shell out the escrow money for big guaranteed money, that by rule, must be deposited immediately. Davis is in the same boat with Brown. This also leads to coaching staff turnover because of cheap pay. Burrow is indeed a premier QB and will manage to keep the Bengals in the annual conversation but can Brown shell out 141mil in one lump-sum to escrow and also pay his yearly salary to secure his services long-term as the Hunts did with Mahomes? He's had 2 great games and a good game 5 games into the season and was a n on factor last year and was carried through the post season both seasons they got in. Shut up. The thing dunces don't understand if the Bengals had been on the winning side and the Ravens, whose defense is still celebrated, albeit less than of old, nobody would be talking about Lamar as if he needs to be perfect to win. But Lamar was perfect and Joe was not perfect. The ravens gave up 38 points and the Bengals drove the entire game and collapsed, in large part due to the fact that Burrow threw a game-losing INT and then couldn't advance the ball with the game in his hands when it truly mattered. I still don't blame Burrow or the offense for this loss. I blame the defense. But the Ravens gave up essentially just as many points as the Bengals did. The Bengals' problem is coaching and complacency/drafting/moving personnel.
