@@SPenrose1987 No, I’m not mad. I simply don’t watch it. I haven’t watched it in years. I used to watch it with my wife and we would sit down on a Friday and have a good chuckle but that’s all changed. HIGNFY costs nothing to make for starters, and very little on the BBC does cost anything these days and when it does, it’s invariably nothing that I’m interested in (celebrity strictly, peaky wankers, bodyguard wish-fulfilment drama nonsense, etc). Secondly the jokes are all gags that you can make yourself if you pay even a modicum of attention to current affairs and all that amounts to is the BBC’s rather unappealing habit of being entirely self-referential and regurgitating the same thing it’s already shown you from a different angle in the news all week. Again, this is done because it is cheap. But it’s a waste of time. If there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s the BBC thinking that it’s the story, that I want to know what the BBC is up to. I don’t. I don’t want to be told what I already know on Friday night, having been given it constantly from last Saturday up until broadcast. I don’t care that Louise Minchin was being stalked. I don’t care that I’m supposed to be shocked that politicians lie, having been regaled with that fact since the dawn of time, but more specifically since last Saturday. It’s tedious. It’s a waste of time. A cheap waste of time. Why? I know what’s going on in the news (you actually haven’t got news for me, because you already told me, six ways to Friday) and I’m not interested in your jokes (because you’re not as funny as you used to be). Edit - I’m spending Friday night at nine o’clock reading bedtime stories to my daughters, and that’s an infinitely better use of my remaining forty years or so on this planet.
