- We have Vmax! I took my McLaren 675LT Spider out for an early morning blast on the Autobahn to experience the top speed it can reach. With empty roads and the McLaren prepared for the occasion, it managed to reach a GPS recorded 324km/h, or 201.3mph. Wow, what an adrenaline rush.
The McLaren 675LT Spider suffers a slightly reduced top speed versus the 675LT Coupe due to additional weight for the roof mechanism, and sitting slightly taller so the claimed figures are 326km/h or 203mph (versus 330km/h or 205mph for the fixed roof). Also as the 675LT is the track focused version of the car and therefore has more downforce than the regular 650S, there is extra drag at top speed that also reduces the maximum you can reach.
Conditions all lined up for the occasion; a brisk morning with clear views as the sun rises, a car that went for preparation and checking at the dealership beforehand, brand new tyres that are over inflated for the purpose, and using a Sunday when trucks are banned from the roads too.
The fascinating feeling of that speed is how composed the car is, with the downforce at work the car feels glued to the tarmac and incredibly controlled. Combine that with wonderful roads and intelligent drivers in Germany and it made for an awesome experience.

i've actually had an aventador sv with assumed like 300ish kmh screaming past me on that very stretch of autobahn near frankfurt. i was driving around 140 kmh
i've spotted the lights in my mirror and a few seconds later it already blew past me :D was pretty insane, but it doesnt feel that scary actually (maybe cause i saw it coming)

Impressive Tim, never expected this from you. Being someone who has driven very fast (legally) I can say that even going 150mph leaves you sweaty. I suppose it depends on the car of course. Regards to the car, only thing I would have done differently is the calipers. But ultimately it's whatever floats YOUR boat. Germany also proves that speed is not necessarily dangerous, and makes our antiquated laws in the UK look ridiculous.
For sure, it's also the culture where drivers grow up with much better driving discipline than ours.

I’m sure you’ve had it where someone sees you coming up behind them at speed and they pull out at much slower speed on purpose because they think they are doing a public service by making you slow down. When they could cause a massive accident. Yeah lane discipline is generally excellent in Germany
eSysman As a German I can say that every family father with his 2009 Audi A4 goes 150mph on the Autobahn.
Yeah I can understand that, because it's legal. We don't get that opportunity without the risk of losing our licence and massive fines. My friend had a £1400 fine and 6 points for travelling at 104MPH on a UK motorway.

This video reminds me of my trip to Motorworld a couple of months ago, coming back in the middle of the night (around 2 a.m.) on the autobahn, clear road --> Achieved 257km/h. Then our buddy in a Nissan GTR decided we were not fast enough, so he flies past us at 310km/h :p. Gotta love Germany :)!

Tim ,I'm utterly bewildered of what the 675 is capable to do, I didn't figure out that its shove would have been so fast! Probably If I had been in the passenger seat, I would have been staggered and a little bit scared! Anyway besides everything your videos are always a "warranty" in terms of contents and that's why I think you would be surely a fantastic host in a show like "Top Gear"!!! Keep us always up with some more contents!!

Moments before you started talking about the wheels I was thinking to myself, "Those wheels in silver are so amazing." They actually look a lot like my Rohana's. Beautiful design and color. They really pop against the dark purple. Great to see you finally push the 675LT to the limit.
