- This ship, on paper, looked like someone threw an Essex and a Montana into a bag, gave it a good shake, and cobbled together which parts were left. This raises the interesting question - is this any good, or are we looking at another Constellation?

Also when the Iowa class battleships came back the 80's,the usn almost went this way with 2 of them also,it would have been harrier jets or something like that and helicopters.just a little history,to add to your history on it,great vid terry.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I don't have Kearsarge myself but my first impression of the stats was that it addresses a lot of my issues with Ise (too few guns and no secondaries), even if it does have comparatively worse armor.
My first thought was that she's going to have a really hard time, with the NC guns and only a single wing. But after testing, I'd say she's actually pretty well balanced. Certainly niche / inflexible wrt playstyle, but fun to play
I enjoy the Big K.she is so so against dd,you can take them out with secondary guns combined with the main guns,but yes she can't move well and good dd players will get u.she can tank bow in and stern,but broadside she gets crushed.Her He isn't bad at fire starting,combined with the bombers u eat up there heals and damage controls.great video Terry enjoy the Big k.she is a good ship,but cost alot,but was worth it,fun ship.Also the cold War camo is awesome too.
I've been tempted to try to go for the perma-fires, but you end up wasting some AP damage while trying to get the fires set, so at most, I'd try it for a salvo or so.

If only she had one more wing I feel like it would make her that much better. I was waiting to see what you thought was the best strategy and I think max range is the answer too. I’ve been messing around with the he and it’s pretty fun. Feels like it lights a fire every other salvo. Thanks for the review Terry!
My first thought was also, why only one wing - even Ise has two. But after testing, and seeing the damage the guns can do, a second wing would be over the top. She could set constant permafires.
I think wargaming should introduce to World of Warships Blitz what they have done in World of Tanks PC which it is the fact that you can switch your equipment in loading screen before each battle. That feature is very nice and it can come very handy in WOWS. They don't even have to get creative or anything just copy-paste what they have already done in their other title.
What equipment would you switch? I usually have a set of modules installed, and consumables on auto-resupply, the only thing I move around are captains
@@FunandGameswithTerry i really wished that we can mount and demount different ship upgrades without being forced to receive costs penalties. At the very least, if the swap is between 2 upgrades that have the same silver values, then no devaluation should happen at all. The present mechanic is really frustrating especially with the higher tiers of ships, and it hinders severely experiments with different upgrades and the wish to tailor ship better for different game modes eg. ranked/clan war/division games/grand battles might require different ship setups than a mere 1v13 in any typical random public games.
Why cant they implement the same mechanic as the one in world of tanks blitz. Most comfortable mechanics they have there. 😥

Thanks! I don't have scripts or notes, I do research beforehand, especially on the history section, and I usually play the test battles first before recording the review. But it's all improv beyond that. I'll need to do another "making of" video 😁

So I checked and improvisation is the same word french/English. I should have guess it. Mostly all words finishing by "tion" or by "ment" (Gouvernment, appartment) are almost indentical
Yes Terry, BTD-1 is suppose to replace the venerable SBD and TBD. But only few build and the true successor of both bomber is the A-1 Skyraider, if we talk bout Douglas bomber yes...

Yes, the L45s on the Mk6 turret. Don't feel like NC's, though, although that's very subjective. Maybe it's the "throw enough lead down range" factor, with the additional turret?

Premiums aren't always available. They come out in events, crates, bundles or the shipyard, but it's always a rotation.

Yeah, it can take a long time for certain premiums to become available again, unfortunately
There's USS Kearsarge, an amphibious landing ship. She's still being used by the US Navy.

@@FunandGameswithTerry the reason they don't wanna call it that is because of the Japanese Constitution (doesn't allow for offensive weapons). But Uncle Sam needs Japan as an ally against the Chinese. So yeah...
I was one slot away from getting this thing first try in the sonar sweep. Its one and done for me. Eventually I will get a ship on the first try.
AFAIK nobody ever gets a sonar sweep ship on the first try, or the second. It's rigged to give either on the final spin orn the second last spin...others can validate this
@@knockitdown20 not exactly true. The second half is wrong, I have pulled Yuburi like at my 6th try when the put her as a main prize. Yet again, she was a lower teired ship. But its fun to do so anyway.
@@knockitdown20 well I've got her on my first try, maximum pull for me from sonar sweep is 2 pull, nothing more than that
The first or second ones can be good value if you're lucky, but I usually don't go further myself. Sunk cost fallacy is the obvious psychological strategy here.
@@FunandGameswithTerry yes. A gambling "thing" my dad had told me is they will make it so close to you winning so you go and try again and again so they make more money. He told me the "one and done" part, which is what he does. I know if I do get a ship first try I will have a heart attack on the amount of shock.
I've only seen 2 of them and both times I got citidel crisis on them at Max range with my Bismarck so in my opinion they are not worth it
this thing is easy to citidel hit the hangar and you can spam citadels

I wasn’t overly impressed by this ship. I have crushed every match up I have had with it in the black Iowa. In one match I sank it in three salvos with the most citadel hits I ever got in any Iowa.
This ship needs to be played at max range, and with some cover in mind. Anyone seeing "battleship" and getting in close is up for a rude awakening. That means you have to rely on your team for e.g. cap control, but if played like that, she can be pretty fun.
@@FunandGameswithTerry lol. Yes. I can see that one 100%. I was honestly surprised playing against it because I was thinking it was more along the lines of the Montana. I can see where it’s similar to the Constellation, I just got it out of a create and kept seeing battleship but play style of a cruiser after I got blapped in the first 30sec of a match.
I had a match agaist three of them... My Colombo got two!!! 👍
The best roulette-ship ever is still by far the smolensk, the tulsa is trailing behind her at a distance. The rest i consider to be not worth the efforts at all.

Sorry 😂 my first thought was that it's another Constellation, and she's surely not a great ship, but if played to her niche, I had enough fun to try two spins at the sweep.
No one is going to take her into competitive, but in random games...

Same. Constellation didn't work for me at all, since she needs to be close to make all her armaments work, so I found it pretty hard to compensate for the squishiness. I'll have to check your video on that one.
