what if i do not use steam launcher nor the rockstar launcher
My monitor support QHD 165hz
But in game i can set only 85hz on QHD, and 165hz on very low resolutions
How fix it D:

@@Yuri-xx2gi 🤣🤣🤣
You should totally make an "ultimate modding guide" series for GTA IV
And hopefully for the current version of the game. All guides I've seen either are outdated, convoluted, or force/show only how to use the downgrader to do any modding. people like me that don't want to spend 50 to 100$ on another Hard Drive just to mod gta 4 (for one reason or another) just want to do simple modding like sounds, textures, and AI tweaks.
@@Fearsomebeast13hey what hard drive do u have.
I put it on c drive even though it says to put somewhere else.i know the andre downgrader also makes it seem like you cant have your game files in program files
I got very annoyed about everyone only speaking of downgrading but theres really like no mods that work for the new patches.
You can add textures to new patches i think but the gun sounds cant go on because the audio application they all say to use doesnt work.
Downgrader actually solved all my problems, you wont need a new drive.
Theres many of them and they all include dxvk.
Steam actually has some good ones but like most gta mods you have to downgrade usually

what's it for?
I was intimidated at first, but after doing this as well as the graphic improvements in your other video, it turned out to be really easy! I have a RTX 4090 and even after the DXVK I still do have some chop, but it’s an improvement from how the game was without it.
Your videos are amazing man, I appreciate the well in-depth tutorials. I promise it will pay off if it hasn’t already. Time to go play now
You know what I love about your videos? It's how clear you are and the ammount of useful info they contain. You don't just tell people "move this file here" and be done with it, you make an effort to make sure that a mod works for as many people as possible.
Stellar work, man! Cheers!
I am someone who owns legitimate copies of all the Rockstar games, but I had to resort to a pirated version, especially in the case of Grand Theft Auto IV. They included all the fixes and enhancements in one simple installer that the developers themselves couldn't be bothered to do. It's so absurd that I pretty much own all the Rockstar games, including LA Noire and GTA V, which I installed on my computer but a pirated versions because I dislike the Rockstar launcher. With the pirated version, I just click on it, and it starts without the need for a login. There is something wrong with the industry when a pirated version is more convenient than a legitimate one. It is so asinine, and this is coming from a legitimate owner of those games. Heck, in Grand Theft Auto IV, they re-establish the multiplayer and the original soundtrack of the game, in the pirated version. I am so pissed off about that fact. Rockstar is literally their own worst enemy in preserving their own game.
How did you find that?
I purchased a copy of GTA 4 too but had to resort to pirated versions due to a lot of memory issues in that
@@everyone01 It is infuriating, wouldn’t you agree? This problem is not limited to Rockstar. Fans have to fix their game to be enjoyed. From my point of view, this is a problem with copyright law. They have to be limited to 15 years, which was the original intention. When a game or media is in the public domain, it can be modified, re-edited, repackaged, and resold. Unless the original developer can improve it greatly, they have to compete with others who do the job better than them. Instead, people like myself who purchase it legitimately have to resort to piracy for the reasons I have mentioned above.
@@TheRealSpeedWolf That's why I always try to buy DRM Free games from GOG when possible. And anything that has "Denuvo" stamped on it goes into my ignore list, Always online DRM is just blatant anti-consumerism, these companies don't deserve our money.
was it that fit girl repack?
that rain effect looks absolutely gorgeous, I didn't think it was possible to make it look that stunning.
I just wanna say, I've been struggling with this on PC for so long, just dealing with the insane jumparound of frames in an effort to play a better looking version of the original version on consoles, and alot of times reverting to the console versions just for some stability. But with this vid, I can now happily play this FINALLY without issues, and it makes me wanna cry. Thank you for all of this! Explained everything perfectly without confusion and made me feel far smarter than I am. Thank you!
Thanks, man. A few months back, I attempted to set up DXVK, but couldn't get it to work. I eventually gave up. However, I randomly came across this video, and by following all the steps, it worked flawlessly-much simpler than other tutorials I had seen.
4:29 i don't have this GTA IV folder, i downloaded GTA IV through steam could you plz help me?
I had those resolution issues from doing your last guide and this fixed it. The game is using dxvk now. Thank you for making an updated version
im having the same res problems and idk what to do
i dont know if its just me, but after the installation, the game was running even more worse than before installation, also your probably one of the few youtubers who provide tutorials proffesionaly, you explain everything so it makes sense, you even provide alternatives to when the first method dont work, and you dont make things confusing, thank you so much keep doing what you are doing and your channel will keep growing drastically
Me too lol, i think this mod is for someone who already had enough pc for gta iv but want to stable the gameplay, in my case the game hardly go 60fps
I had the same issue, it turns out the release ver. 2.3 was the one that causes it. After downgrading to DXVK version 2.2, it runs beautifully.

Been looking for this fix... Thank you so much...🙏 I wondered how GTA 4 isn't compatible with my 3070ti... Thank you for this fix... It's my first time playing GTA 4🎉❤
thank you so much bro you are a legend. I was suffering that when I leave building, I get a drop frame from 60 to 42 and now it goes fixed so thank you so much.
I appreciate you, you helped me a lot. The game looks amazing and has become more playable. Greetings from Poland
ty ty ty for the updated video ! I was using the wrong version of dxvk, the 2.0. Now I got it working with the 1.30.3 !
Dude you are an absolute legend, my game used lag so much at the cutscences, like my game used run at abt 55 fps and then the cutacences at 5, now everything is super stable. THANK YOU LEGEND 🔥
THANK YOU!!! Finally I can enjoy GTA 4 again and NOT have to worry about the damn game crashing every time I want to Alt + Tab out of it. Though I wish GTA 4 supported borderless fullscreen, but this is the next best thing. Thanks again for you're clear and concise guide on how to get GTA 4 running flawlessly now :)
FusionFix adds borderless full screen support.
Look forward to trying this. Back in the day I remember getting near to the final mission and it crashing a lot.
Thank you very much for the guide! I did one extra step as I found out on my setup Ryzen 3600x & RTX 2070 Super I was getting crazy screen tearing. I went into the Nvidia 'Manage 3D settings' and manually capped the FPS on the GTA IV to 60FPS and turned vsync off in game settings, now it runs buttery smooth hope this helps anyone else.
Thank you! This tweak made a huge difference in performance!
Thank you for the guide 👍. Can you make another ultimate modding guide for gta 4, just like what you do with gta sa? Thanks 😊
Maybe not as in-depth, but I would like to do something similar soon.
Bro needs more subs! Thanks, i was struggling at 15-38 fps 6 months, now i can play on 60+!
Thank you! You made it easy and quick. Keep up the amazing work!
you the goat, used dxvk and I no longer get any stutters or random game crashes.
My game used to run very slow, even on startup. The mouse would buffer and take second to load, clicking stuff would take near 5 seconds to properly input. This made the game run smoother and i can finally play the game again. Thank you
Thank's man you"re the best .This video helped me alot , i'm greatfull that you can finally solve my problem, and i can play with best optimisation!
i tried it and i believe my game was running smoother without it, but thank you for showing me that its out there if i need it
Will dxvk work with amd ryzen 5 4500?
@@pooperlord53 I’m unsure if it’ll work with that pacific cpu, but I have one similar and it didn’t seem to work well, yet again I may have done some of the setup steps for DXVK wrong so take what I say with a grain of salt
I just got this on steam sale this weekend, and I came across this vid before I even played it. Works great! Vulcan api is apparently included in my rtx 3070 game ready drivers. No issues, except for zooming in on cutscenes, which I fixed by setting my resolution to 1920x1080 60fps, hope it helps someone. Thanks again!
Thank you so much king ❤ the game works like magic and so smooth thanks a lot
Dude, you are a champion. I am one of those people who's computer runs this game at over 100fps, but suffers unplayable stuttering and frame syncing issues. DXVK completely fixes this and delivers a smooth experience.
Kudos are in order.

DXVK is magical, seriously, thanks to DXVK i can play older dx9 games that dont work properly or at all on modern hardware.
Check out D8VK, which is a fork of DXVK for DX8 games. For me, it improves performance a lot in Max Payne and Hitman Contracts.
This doesn't work on my PC/GTA 4. It's the same crappy performance with the stutters from 100 to 2 fps and back to 59 to 70 fps and and and...
Dude at least you have 70 fps, I have fucking 20. On a 2017 PC.
@@Dat_Jonx its changing from 100 to 50 and than 2 to 120 fps… that makes me so angry

For anyone whose game crashes after installing dxvk try updating the graphics drivers, it solved the issue of game crashing and I did not have to specify the video memory it just worked
Hey man. great video, thanks. I have installed Fusion Fix and everything is working (recoil, DoF, Rain etc.) The only thing that won't display is volumetric lights, I even went to the same one in the aptment that you showed. Might be because of DXVK? Did you notice that DXVK disabled volumetrics? Thanks
Did you find any solutions to that problem?
Thank you, performance is great after using these mods on rtx 2060, vulkan is supported and im using latest DXVK 2.3, video memory and resolution issue also occured but got fixed using above methods. BUTTERY SMOOTH 60 fps on 1440p, THANK YOU 😀😀

Game launches as it should in correct resolution and aspect ratio as long as you don't go into graphics and toggle the res left or right as it dissapears but I'm just about to watch this video now anyway as I appreciate your work dude. Game definitely runs beautifully with no stutters at all for me. JUST A QUICK SIDE NOTE - DXVK Is now 2.3 and that's the one I got as it's the latest as of March 19th (2024) Thumbs up my friend.
Hey bro thank you SOO SOO MUCH! I got gta 4 today and i have a weak computer, and had to run on the lowest settings possible, but after this video, i can finally see the true and realistc gta 4
4:29 i don't have this GTA IV folder, i downloaded GTA IV through steam could you plz help me?
8:32 a small correction: As example 1080p can be wider than 16:9. There are monitors with 2560 x 1080 (it is still a 1080p res, but wider, 21:9). Same can apply to other res too.
1080p aka Full HD aka FHD has always been precisely 1920x1080 pixels in 16:9 aspect ratio. 2560x1080 is called UW (ultrawide) 1080p or UWFHD if you will. Same thing with UWQHD and UW4K. While UWFHD is "technically" still 1080p, the aspect ratio is different and there are more pixels to fill so it's "1080p" in the same way that 1200p is 1080p. (it's not)
Does 21:9 work for you?

THANKS YOU SOO MUCH I CAN FINALLY PLAY GTA 4 WITH MAX GRAPHICS WITH FULLY SMOOTH FPS NOW
Thanks for the new fix on the video memory issue it works now
Again, thanks a lot, dude! This is a brilliant explanation of the whole process. I was so grateful to learn so much. If I may, I'd like to ask for a particular issue: How can I fix Volumetric Lights/Shadows effect?; I'm using the Steam CE with FusionFix (+ vehicules pack, trees and I guess/hope grass of the console visuals mod, Various Fixes mod and NCP enhancements for the cops and FIB mainly), besides the radio restore and DXVK mods. After learning how to access and edit the fusionfix ini file (specifically to fix the taxi bug), I got amazing results, but I miss that feature in particular. Any suggestions? Maybe there are other features I'm losing since I applied the DXVK mod at last. Youre the best!
Mate! Thank you. It's been a while between playthroughs. It ran like garbage before your videos, I have a Ryzen 5600X and a RTX 3060ti. It's not the highest spec PC in the world but it should be able to run GTAIV! I have installed the 4 mods you recommended as well as DXVK. I can now run it at a stable 75 fps @ 3440 x 1440p again it should be better than that but it's smooth and it looks good. Cheers!
I have an Ryzen 3700 and an RTX 3060Ti and the Game runs smooth without the mods, at 6k resolution and max settings at around 70fps...(smooth 50fps with 8k as well). The mods made it run worse now...
Did some more testing. Without mod, at a resolution of 5760 x 3240 all settings maxed out even shadows and draw distance so on and I get around 80fps most of the time. With the mod it actually gets worse, it's more around the 60s than the 80s, I even tried to lower some settings and stuff but like others said, this dxvk stuff doesn't really improve anything for a lot of people, for some it actually makes it worse. I'm surprised it works for you with mod but without it doesn't run since we have a pretty similar system.
@RequiemDream that's really interesting. When I ran thr vanilla game, the framerate would jump around quite a lot, anywhere from 45fps to 150+ and extreme stuttering! It was basically unplayable. Now it's stable, we is all I really wanted. I would be nice if I could lock it to 120fps but for some reason, 75 is all I can get. I'll take it though
thank you very much, you helped me a lot
I'd like to thank the people who created the DXVK cause I can finally enjoy GTA IV.
and it used to be a game I never liked and could never get into even though my friends love it to deth
but now I get it.. not only do I get it.. but I consider it to be a masterpiece now
and I wholeheartedly believe it to be the best GTA game ever made.
and all it took was a lil dll file to make the game smooth as butter so I can finally sit and enjoy the game without constantly being taken out of the immersion because of a bad port behavior.
so again.. thank you!~
I tried like 7 different methods throughout the years, now I found your video. Did everything as you said, but then the game crashed at every launch. As my last resort I updates my graphics driver manually, and now it WORKS!!! No more stutterting, no more lagging, no more anything. Finally, I can play GTA IV, thanks to you. Excelent fix, it worked great and no more stuttering at Hove Beach and other places. However I noticed that FRAPS no longer works. I can't see my FPS count nor take screenshots. Is there any fix for that?
Hello, Sir. May I ask if this is merely natural on my end that it is a bit lagging/stuttering at the start of my game but it gradually smoothens as I continue playing? Is this normal for DXVK to function? By the way, my graphics card is a GT 730, a processor of Core 2 Duo E8400, and my PC is equipped with 8GB ram (and yes I'm not afraid to tell you my low-end specs 🙂)

Can the steam overlay feature work on non steam games?
Not sure if anyone else has this issue, but used DXVK before and had no issues. But since trying 2.2 and then 2.3, had issues where having it's dll in the directory just crashes the game once it loads in. But the game is fine when it's removed. Any ideas what's causing this?

It runs BUTTERY SMOOTH for about 5 minutes, or until a cutscene and then becomes a choppy mess.
Strangely, I can "reset" it back to being smooth, by enabling and disabling vsync or change the resolution back and forth.
This will make it run perfect again for a while until the mentioned above.
Any clue, what's the issue here?

Same issue here, also on a 3080
Does it happen on older 2.0? If not, please open issue on their GH with trace attached.
I finally fixed the stuttering issue on my computer. Turns out I had to enable the Steam Overlay for GTA 4. For whatever reason, this stopped the stutter.
Right-click on GTA 4 in Steam, go to Properties. Then look for the "Enable Steam Overlay in-game", turn on this switch. The stuttering should now be fixed!
Unbelievable. Amazing. Just awesome. Thank you so much. I bought GTA IV today, since I've never played it and it was a decent price, I figured I'd give it a shot and after all these years, everything would be polished. That was a mistake...the game ran very poorly even on my decent pc (5800x3D, 32gb ram and 3090). Specifically some 80-120fps in QHD and very high, and very very strong stuttering. Hello, my config is a 11400f with a 3060 (12gb), V-sync ON at 60 hz display at 1440p with all setings max out:
My experience with dxvk versions so far:
2.3: A lot of tearing and stutters when roaming around
2.2: No tearing when roaming around or entering places or anything but I have small tearing when hiting objects with a car (almost not noticeable) [This is the second best version so far]
2.1: Some stutters when entering places and hiting objects with a car
(Edit) 2.0: No stutters at all >[this is the best version so far]<
2.0 update: Stutters when hiting objects with a car, very rare indeed.
(Edit) 1.10: A lot of stutters and randomly.
(Edit) 1.9.4: Stutters are random in a lot of areas.
(Edit) 1.9.3: Stutters that looks like the default version of the game.
I'm going to test all versions and update here, if anyone else is having this problem (stutters or tearing), any help would be great! Thanks!
I'm using 2.3 version, facing the same issue. stutters when roaming around.
I'll try the 2.0 version.
Tried every version and got the stuttering in all of them :(
@@edgardhenrique4113 what are your pc specs?
@RicardoLNedel thankssssssss for the sharing mann, i was struggling with 2.3 version (crazy fps drops), switched to 2.0 and now game seems real smooth🙏🙏
the sttuters happend to me, but it was because i have in game Vsync, the solution was to turn it off and set RivaTuner Statistics set to limit the game at 60fps, worked like a charm.
So when I use FusionFix the rain is not properly working. It works briefly but then cuts out. Is there any way to fix this?
when i open assassins creed origins with dxvk the game say my gpu driver needs to update but ppl said to ignore this msg
I have a 2070 and i installed dxvk as in the previous video and trying again with this one but still im stuck at 70 fps
For some reason the game refuses to recognise over 512 MB of memory, but i can still change the options above it, weird.
I added the game to Steam as a non-Steam game and did everything else as you said but the game won't start and I get an error message. It says Exception EFCreateError in module DSOUND.dll at 000116C5. Cannot create file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Grand Theft Auto IV\asilog.txt". Access denied.
-.-
how do I know if DXVK is working? I followed the foot-steps and didn't get any error or crash, does it means it's working? 'Cause I haven't noticed any difference in performance.
My set-up:
GALAX GTX 1660
8 GB DUAL CHANNEL
I5-9400F
One BIG problem, in open world games, is the pop up textures on the horizon, for me is a immense immersion braking, and this game is notorious in that...
Does it annoy anyone else that TBOGT pause menu music is missing? I cant be sure if this is caused by fusionfix but its not there with it installed
I have a gtx 1050 ti with 4gb vram. I have a problem where the game vould perform very well at max settings for a few minutes. But after some time it starts to cut the framerate in half ( ie.: getting solid 60 fps before, bit now only 20-ish fps). Why is that? Can you help?
EXACTLY DUDE İ HAVE GTX 1650 AND GOT EXACT SAME ISSUE LIKE IT DOESNT EVEN REACH 30 in hove beach and 50 in algonquin
That's VRAM starvation. If you have a laptop with mux switch, try enabling switchable graphics mode instead of discrete mode in BIOS, which should free up some VRAM. Closing apps in the background can also help.
2011 intel desktop board with i7-2600 and gtx 1050ti. I don't thinks there is any setting in the bios releated to vram
@@atiatyagamer8050 You can try plugging your HDMI/DP cable to your motherboard, but with that CPU age, the Intel HD 2000 iGPU will not perform well or work at all on modern OSes.
Disable hardware acceleration in Steam, don't use browser when gaming, what else...
I will rather just invest to better PC parts.
