This was the anthem for every black college girl who lived in Baton Rouge around the time this came out. Southern, LSU & BRCC girls stayed bumping this in BR back in the day.

I remember when this was hot. 🔥
It was a sweet pocket in rap with a lot of anthems. Webbie was doing his thang. Lil Phat was here. I still remember specifically the women I was hanging with that liked the song. It was a good time.

Listening to this song always makes my eyes well-up with tears a little. I know it's cheesy, but with all of the viciousness and negativity out there, it makes me feel happy to think that some men could actually like and even admire an independent professional woman like myself instead of feeling emasculated and wanting to drag her down and control her. That's so sexy

This is my first time listening to this song and I'm impressed finally a song they're not putting women down. If anything they are proud of us women who are independent don't need no man to define us even if in a relationship she can still be independent

the only bad thing about this... i see black females filling up colleges and black men sitting at home living off the woman. i thank God he gave me the real man I have from 16yrs old and still to this day at 38. when i can't work he works and pays it all, even with our 4 children. we invest our time in our family. i hate seeing women used by men. i know not all men do it, so please no hate, but our generation is headed that way. sad thing.

I'm glad you've found something that works for your family. One income won't cut it in every case. Inflation has outpaced wages. This isn't our grandparent's era. I'll agree that there's excuse for a man to sit on the couch doing nothing.

Yea I agree. I’m the product of a college educated six figure mommy and a bum brokie roody poo, scrub bug a boo of a father. This man bled my mom to death like a human leech. I REFUSE to be like my mom in that way. So I pray for a man like yours, that will provide and protect selflessly ❤
