Couldn't agree more mate, just sold my converted transit minibus camper as sick of all that goes with the 'van life' nonsense. Less is definitely more and a van that can be used for everything is far better. Keep it simple and its far more fun, all you need is something to get you around and sleep in the adventure is the most important and fun bit not running hot water and rock n roll bed lol. Keep it cheap and simple job done 👍
i used to use 2 sunlounger pads for sleeping on. my daughter and i spent a week in the back of the van touring the northeast coast and scotland.we slept in places where larger vans and campers got moved on by the wardens.
Brilliant vlog,👍👍👍👍..... I do the same as you ,my van carpeted out air bed, fold away table for cooking, job done😎👍👍👍👍👍..... Be great to see a full adventure in your van camping etc,.... All the best 🍻🍺🍻
I have just sold my t4 lwb and got a swb Caddy which has a rustic finish with reclaimed pallet wood and a slide out bed. Previously I have had a sprinter and a converted Vw Lt horse box and this van makes me the happiest no bells and whistles just cosy and I love it.
Brilliant vlog Darren ! I have a caddy swb,the same!! All I've done is same as you but am going to use a wee single futon fold out bed !! Simple stuff with no frills !! Away this weekend hopefully for a nite or two in scotland!
I stayed in various capsule hotels in japan for 4 weeks, and I only brought a 35l backpack... For me, that trip spotlighted how very little you ACTUALLY need to go out on an adventure. Today i find it ridiculous how try to fit their whole house into an uncomfortable overbuilt van. Especially for those who already own a house. On adventures, you need somewhere to sleep, and you need clothes. the rest, you will make up as you go.
This is amazing Darren! Great video. I really want to do this with a regular VW Caddy too. Not bothered with the full camper conversion etc. How far forward do the two front seats move up? And do they tilt forward? Basically, do you have them as far forward as possible in this video? I am 6ft 3 so just want to make sure there's enough length for me before I buy a Caddy.
Same as my caddy 1.6 tredline 62 pkate 2nd owner 32k very clean van wen i got it and i spent £1500 for bat split charger and carpeted out thats all i need it for Was finkin of getin kitchen sides and a slid out bed but i have been doin same as you double air bed from halfords works a treat i can use my van for everything that was work camping my push bike can do removals init to so your rite less you got the better i loveeeee my caddyyyy

Very true, the Japanese know about minimalism all too well 👍
