I haven't called myself an evangelical since the 1960's. I rejected the compromise, and I didn't want to be identified with it. I called myself a fundamentalist for the next 20 years, but I didn't like the direction the fundamentalists were going, so I don't call myself a fundamentalist any more either. I haven't changed for all those years, the movements have. I classify myself as a Bible-believing Christian.
Language changes. Definitions change. Truth doesn't. I stand on the inerrant Word of God. God's Word doesn't change.
A lot of this apostasy began with "Quick Prayerism."
Music is not a “trivial” issue. We have moved so far from reverent worship. We treat gathering together for worship as a coffee club or nightclub. Our church has aside those of us who appreciate non-blaring music and lights on to a room they affectionately call the Warehouse. Sanctuary seems offensive, outdated to them. How I long to worship my precious Saviour with the holy angels.
I think we all agree. But the point is the kind of music we listen to is not one of our main salvific issues.

I doubt we could all come to the same definition of reverence. That’s a very subjective idea.
Not the kind of music...but most definitely we should be firm on lyric content. Music has been used to teach truth to the church from day one. Music leaves a lasting mark on the human brain- how many commercials from your childhood can you still sing....? How about pop music from your childhood? We REMEMBER words associated with tunes. I'm a fundamental evangelical. Old fashioned Sola everything, Bible believing, non denominational, born again Christian. I wasn't raised as a Christian and I came to the Lord late in life. I don't go to church because I'm disabled, and it appears God made me that way. Well, it's okay, He's my Sovereign. I think God understands my easily suggestible, inconsistent and often swayed personality and my fears of rejection and criticism because of my abusive childhood so that He protects me from the outside world and lovingly guides me to truth through wonderful Christians like you on the internet and He consistently bombards me with you and your kind (bold truth tellers) to keep me from going astray. I love your videos. Keep them coming. I've got years of them apparently to go through so I don't think I'll worry about running out. Worry for nothing; pray about everything.

It's no wonder churches like these set up direct debit for the offering. I'd have a hard time parting ways with my money to give to a church like the Church of the Glades so they can pretend it has a Broadway address. I feel much better that my church actually helps people in need in our community.

I have loved calling myself "born again" Christian for the the last 40 years I have been saved. Though it is a term not used much by the Christians Christ Himself used it in speaking with Nicodemus. God Bless.
"granting them repentance and faith"? That's not the definition of an evangelical. It's the definition of a Calvinist.
No, even more like a Roman Catholic, although Calvinists are a bit wacky, too.

The problem with modern Christianity, especially in the west, is that we've completely mutilated what it means to be the church of Christ from being the fellowship of believers to instead interpret it as being a building that we have to go to every Saturday/Sunday lest we somehow lose our salvation. Yes, we are to have fellowship with the brethren, but we can do that anywhere at any time to worship God and it's sad that so many Christian denominations, Catholics included, can't figure that out.
So strange... I believe the whole Bible is true and I follow the LORD Jesus Christ, guess what that makes me? A CHRISTIAN. Simple. No divisions, no opinions, no denominations, just godly living. Love GOD love each other, we must have 1 mind in the LORD, we must repent and return to the truth as it is written. Follow Jesus Christ Yeshua and not the systems of the world that look right but do nothing but backbite and cause strife. Build each other up in the faith, not in the denomination. We must see how the dark 1 wants to divide the body of Christ Jesus. Praying for you all always. Much love.

JDP got this info.from a documentary on the HISTORY channel, Who Wrote the Bible? Of the Ancient Mysteries series.
As a Psychologist, I can see JDP doing his research beforehand, but his research is questionable.
JDP is trying to create a brand within the Christian population, because his brand within academia has gone away, and he has stopped or put his clinical private practice on hiatus after people filed complaints to the licensing board.
His wife is becoming a Catholic after a 6-month orientation (not sure what that is all about).
This may be where JDP got the idea to re-brand himself in the Christian space.
Not to judge, but JDP spoke about not believing in God in the past. Not sure about his beliefs now, but he does come across as a Utilitarian.

In fact, things went off the rails back in the 1400's, when you all left the true Church. Return to Catholicism and dispense with all of these disputes and contradictions.
