That's what's called experience and comman sense I'd buy a custom board from him anytime Thanks for sharing another amazing video my friend Be well and God Bless 👍
5:17 Reverse V: Flat V starts at nose and is as much as 1/2” deep in middle of board with a double concave inside of V and in front of fins and between fins. He doesn’t put concave in the V at the nose because it will hang up at the top when dropping in when wind is offshore. His rails have an edge all the way to the nose. Obviously they are tucked going towards the nose but still have an edge. This gives more speed and drive vs soft rails with no edge. 6:54 He has NO concave in the V at the chest. (He said that was 20 years ago.) 8:16 Explains what foam to use and stringer.
Awesome interview! Shaping is about finding the right balance and compromises. With 3" thickness, and especially with concave and a narrow width, to get a relatively thin/down rail, the deck gets more domey... So it depends what one is going for. Flatter deck + knifey rails needs a bit less thickness at the stringer for a given width. In terms of durability, I've been using s-glass and epoxy to laminate. Better strength than e glass for the same glass schedule (and weight) when used with epoxy, just as easy to use, but somewhat more expensive.
He has a beautiful and overcome history. Is (or was) close friend of wayne lynch and both surfed empty waves at south Austrália. And in instead of all, he is a excellent Shaper and surfer. Congrats🎉😅😊
Maurice is a gem

Ce gars a révolutionné le surf français et je n'oublierai jamais cette planche qu'il m'avait shapé quand je n'avais pas d'argent , merci Maurice !

Using width ,length, thickness ,along with liters realy targets it in . I use all 4 .
riden his boards , they work well , thats why hes reknown as one of the greats
I appreciate the preferred option of using epoxy with pu.
That s the spirit, ride the board for how if feels not for how many liters it has.
The best
