Why do you have the UUI-Continued version in your mod list and not the original by Kian.Zarrin? The continued version is garbage and doesn't work properly. Kian.Zarrin's original UUI mod works absolutely perfectly without any problems and bugs. I have all the mods presented, except for City Vital Watch & UI Resolution, I don't need those two.^^
@City Planner, your last video (part one) was eye opening, thank you, i really had not dived into all of the features of the mods i was using, found some nice time saving hacks, still love this game and CS2 has not stopped me building or playing
This has been a great list of the most useful mods, and I appreciate the demonstrations and instructions you give, even though it's just a refresher for me. If you were to do any more videos on mods for CS1, there have been a good amount of mods released to serve as continuations of deprecated mods, like Visibility Control for Ultimate Level of Detail. In a similar vein, Skyve is very useful for keeping track of community recommendations regarding mod updates, issues, etc., and could be useful to touch on, for the benefit of those who may not be of a technical nature. Additionally, some combinations of mods could make for short tutorials like "Perfecting each intersection in Cities Skylines", as a showcase of how Move It, Network Multitool, TM:PE, Node Controller Renewal, and Intersection Marking Tool all work together to create realistic and effective intersections. You've done a great job at demonstrating every mod, and I think there's opportunity to expand upon that if you so desire. Keep up the great work
Yup, I was coming here to say pretty much the same things. Great list (and presentation) by CPP, though I'm disappointed that he didn't see fit to include Skyve. It's very useful for helping to identify problems, potential problems, and mods which have been replaced by other mods.
I'm so happy I have no desire to actually play this game. I love watching you and other creators make beautiful cities. Otherwise, I'd probably spend a fortune of time and money on this game!
I can't live without TMPE anymore but I am ABSOLUTELY one of those people who originally relied way too much on the mod. I used to spend hours and hours just microing lanes and stuff because I just didn't understand how important and effective just learning how to build roads would actually be. The mod is stupidly useful! But if you're doing what I was doing, you're probably missing something fundamental like I was.
Do you need all the DLC for these mods to work? I got them via the link provided and many of them are incompatible with my current game version. Also for some reason, when I place roads they are raised and do strange things with the terrain when I place them. I tried messing with the (I assume Game Anarchy mod) but it continued happening. MoveIt!, BoB and RICO have been really fun to play around with though!
I can't believe you skipped over the priority road an yield signs within TM:PE. That is in my opinion the best feature you can use without diving into the details. At least in my part of the world, yield signs are everywhere and the game doesn't allow for them without a mod. Otherwise, you picked great mods for these videos. One of my favourites, Realistic population, isn't on the list, but seeing how impactful that mod is, I can understand why you may have left it out.
The speed limits can also be altered on railroad tracks using TM:PE Although it feels like there is no difference between the 4 highest speeds for trains...
if you have that problem you should probably do a recheck on WHY cargo trains and person trains want to use the same rail to that extent. I don't like several aspects of tmpe since friends of mine done some REALLY dumb things with it ( and I had to fix and I am mostly vanilla with SOME additions ) but it does have uses. The big villains in my eyes is anarchy and move it though dear god the issues created by those mods. I call them the lazy mode activator, tmpe can be that as well but again used properly it does help.
You've really done a stellar job in succinctly explaining how these tools work. I've so many times watched a tutorial for a mod that, say, might tell me how to do something in the mod UI, but doesn't tell me how to bring up the mod UI if I can't work it out, and you've just made it all so simple it inspires me to have a more solid try at some of those I'm less familiar with here.
27:05 -Aurora Borealis- The Northern Lights? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your -kitchen- city?
Auto color redux is also good mod. It colours your transport lines automatically as you draw them and names them according to the stops. For bus, trams, metros and everything.
For those like me who have a decent but not really good PC (my graphics card have only 4GB and only 32 of RAM) me the FPS booster is a fantastic addition. It helped me get a game from 20fps to more or less 35. It helps a lot reducing the amount of work and build larger cities. I would put it in the top 10.
Love the list and love the channel. Wondering if you've ever used Real Time. So much more realistic with sims waking up and different shift work etc.. Make the game harder and more realistic for sure!
@@BluePieNinjaTV modify the number of vehicles on the line and use higher capacity ones instead. I think also there might be a mod to do specific timetables for transit.
@@Zyo117 a timetable mod would be great. If it could use hours in the day instead of the binary day/night options that would really help with specific peak hour routes and night routes
Hey sir, this is a GREAT list, judt thought you might want to add Skyve for maintaining all the mods' and load orders, etc. It also helps with conflicts and when things get depreciated. Just a thought, it's SUPER useful when you have a lot of mods and assets. I get why you put TMPE where you did. It's still super important to focus on road hierarchy and lane mathematics.
Your video information/caption (I have no idea what should I call it) need an update. You said you're currently using a 4090 GPU in the details it's 3080 TI 😅
I don't play Cities, but I always find myself back at these videos. Love the depth and detail. Also, I remember the super early days and how far the channel's come is incredible. Thanks for the endless content :)
Today I learned that the network multitool has a Swiss pocket knife as icon. [shame] Thank you for making this list. I just got back into CS after months and my mods were very broken/incompatible. Started clean with your help.
You are amazing for putting this list together, and the Steam mod collection as well! I play with the base game (because I just started playing a few weeks ago), so everything is super vanilla, not even any DLC. I'm just building in CS to prepare for CS2. But the few mods I have are to help make some things a little easier to manage in game. Well, my list of mods just got a LOT longer due to these two modding guides! I see lots of creators using these mods and always wondered what they were and their true functionality. I'll end up watching these two guides a few times to really get a grasp on how they work. These mods transform the gaming experience of CS! Thank you for your time and effort making these videos!
if you have 30 + mods, I recommend Skyve, former load order tool, which lists all your mods and assets, and help find out of date or broken mods, also it has "tooltips" about mod problems or incompatibilities which help figuring a issue out a lot
In NMT part at 3:20 you arrange sharp corners into a nice curve with arrange at line mode, however, when I attempt the same in my game, it only offers straight lines between selected nodes. Please advise what I am missing, maybe I need to enable/disable something that is not obvious? Also in your other videos when you build roads, there are green marks for angles, and I don't seem to have anything like that although I've added all the modes from your "Ultimate Beginners Guide to Mods in Cities Skylines" collection. Please advise what mod I might be missing for those or setting enable/disable.
All I want is a mod that just lets me go ham on the assets WHILE in game, cable cars for example, ridiculesly massive if you want to stick it in a city, why is there absolutely no mods that just lets me delete the walkpath in the asset and just have the building by itself???
The difference between the lane arrows and lane connectors, is the Connectors are absolute. They will only use those lane for that purpose, with a preference for the turn. Where as the arrows only strongly discourage them. emergency vehicles can ignore them, some aggressive drivers, and if you lock vesicles into only changing one lane at time they can be ignored if you don't have enough nodes to get over. Lastly, the lane connectors use more processing and memory than the arrows. So it's better to only use the connectors where the arrows just aren't providing the desired results.
And if you don’t have a super computer with 100 GB of RAM like Phil, I’d move the Loading Screen Mod up to vital, top 5 even. That share textures options saves a TON of RAM if you’re using a lot of workshop assets.
I'm pretty new to the game (140 hrs) and am definitely new to mods. I added the mods from the steam collection and most of them say they are not compatible with the game and won't let me enable them. Is this common? This video is only from 2 days ago so I sort of expected things to work. I'm not sure if I've done something wrong. Help please!
I absolutely love this game, I love watching other people playing it, but when I try to play it myself I just get too damn impatient. Every time I get a population around 1000, it always becomes a struggle to keep expanding because my I'm waiting for the money to slowly seep in because no matter what I try, I can't increase my income because I can't build new stuff. (Game feels kind of poorly balanced in that regard imo)
I need help - I have installed game and just mods given in description but when any map loads when buldings are made they don't go "up". Only roads and base contours of buildings are placed. You can think of it as nothing above 5cm level is shown in game - any solution ideas?
Hi, thanks for your video, I liked it! Is there a mod that can remove the 3 bars "city's needs?" and then being able to build: residential; industries; offices and more without waiting for the actual need for it?
I think I would rank undo it at least in top 5. I am relatively new in the game, only a few weeks, and haven't really played with mods yet other than looking a bit at traffic manager. But right from the get go, before I even knew there was anything called mods, there was 2 features I really missed, and that has annoyed me several times. Being able to undo something you did, as you say, it should have been a baked in feature of the game, and just for that, it also should also be a lot higher on the list the way I see it. The other thing I missed was being able to move and adjust road, like moveit
Can't wait for TPE successor for cities skylines 2,since they confirmed accidents are a mechanic now. In the first game there is not enough punishment for removing traffic lights and increasing speed limits because no one ever dies or crashes.
Hey, I have installed all these mods but I am now having a problem. My roads are overlapping each other and don't seem to snap. I have all the snapping options on. What am I doing wrong?
Great list! I agree with most of the decisions, even though I don't use any of the graphical mods. Good point about TM:PE often being a crutch to hide underlying issues, I even find myself doing that sometimes. It should also be noted that many of these features will be part of the cs2 base game.
any chance you're aware that the new update broke airports completely? like as in most people right now get an error message when trying to place airports at all? even with no mods installed
Is there a mod which puts an accurate number for the population at the bottom? It doesn't need to change the game at all, but it would just show a more accurate number
I’m really struggling with proper road design and that puts me squarely in the camp of relying to heavily on TM:PE. I know it’s all about road hierarchy and lane mathematics and I feel like that’s what I’m doing but it always ends with crippling traffic and “not enough goods to sell” I really wish I knew what I was doing wrong.
1. So, are you going to rebuild your CS1 cities and counties in CS2, taking advantage of all the assets and tools you'll have in CS2 that you didn't have in vanilla CS1? 2. If you are, which would you redo second, assuming that you'd do Tutoria first?
As much as I love the builds (especially Verde beach), I'd like to see fresh starts - maybe with callbacks to the CS1 cities. I do hope the CS1 builds get "completed" before the launch of CS2 for a nice transition, as I am not sure juggling both games would be fun for Phil. Clearwater County may be the toughest of the bunch to fully realize to his vision though.
The problem isn't so much the mods, but rather the settings for visual mods to make the game look better (non-cartoony, more realistic, and decent sky reflections in water) like your videos. It's too easy to mess up the visuals in CS in my opinion.
Totally agree on TM:PE. It's a wonderful mod. However, it really is *way* too much power for the vast majority of cases. How I feel exactly: "I really must have TM:PE, but I really wish that I didn't need it at all." Which, I suppose is a primary motivation for CS II.
I've subscribed to almost all the mods immediately, I trust your judgement. Only I've found that the new Unified UI doesn't support Network Multitool and Node Controller yet. Also I'm surprised that you don't have Advanced Vehicle Options on your list, to get rid of those crazy Bug Spray and Donut Vans (and new Pie Trucks...)
I tried out Theme Mixer and it worked beautifully at first. Changed the cliff textures, grass and a few other things. Saved it into my own custom theme. Went back into it a few minutes later, made some small adjustments, went to save...and...crash. Tried checking integrity files, removed a couple of minor issues that popped up in Skyve but no luck. I can play the game, I can adjust textures, bascially everything works as it should, I just can't open the wheel at the bottom where you go to save your setup.
I'm having a terrible time with the skipping pre fabs element of the loading mod. No matter how many times I put a list together, I never can get the props or building to disappear. Your videos are some of the best and most descriptive when it comes to learning how to use certain aspects of the game or little details you never knew. Would you consider doing a video exclusively on how to skip vanilla props, building and vehicles. I think it would really help me to see what I'm doing (or not doing). Thanks
Hey Phil I don’t know if you’d be interested in playing a new game for the channel but there’s a city building game I just recently got back into called kingdoms and castles. It has a really neat art style and is pretty in depth. I’d love to see it on the channel
What an amazing job to put all this together in two videos, explain how they work in such a clear and simple way! You gained another subscriber, now I'm going to marathon your videos to learn new ways to build my cities!
I've found out that "driving into blocked crossing" can make a huge difference when you have issues where the traffic stop like it has a stop sign for no reason, hit that icon and the traffic starts to flow regarding to other set rules. In crossing with yield the cars will drive int the lane even if one is coming and adapt to those cars instead of braking/stopping, same with traffic lights.
I love your videos. I love most of the mods you have talked about. My favorite continues to be TMPE. At first I was confused as can be with it until I read more about it and learned it can be truly amazing and helps with traffic but of course you still need to use the correct roads.
First off, CPP, stellar job! I’ve been playing CS for about 2 months now and after finding ur channel, it changed the game for me! This mod list was everything I needed to know to up my game to the next lvl. Thank you for all ur hard work man! Keep up the amazing work that you’re doin’ and I can’t wait to see your builds for CS II!
Hi Phil, thank you for this. Might I suggest taking things like your TM:PE Section and turn it into its own video, as you've just done an easy and quick tutorial going through every option. Love your channel even though I've lessened my comments participation than before.
One important difference between lane connectors and arrows is that arrows allow for dedicated turn lanes in one click while the conenctors allow for a one click solution to merging well thought out roads. Also one thing i use connectors for is dedicated U-turn lanes. For example when you are using turbo roundabouts with 3 lanes. Having a road that allows for u turns on a specific lane can tremendously help traffic on busy arterials
This was a well rounded list, and completely understand why some of the mods got put as low as they did, even if they are counted as some of the most essential mods for players. I do feel that in the TMPE section, you could have done mentioned that there are plug-in mods for it like Continuous Medians and Remove Crosswalks, that can help give your city some better visuals and/or add functional changes to your networks.

I know it’s all about road hierarchy and lane mathematics and I feel like that’s what I’m doing but it always ends with crippling traffic and “not enough goods to sell” I really wish I knew what I was doing wrong.
Next on Phil's list; personal CS building classes
I love your videos. Thank you so much for them, they help me so much.
1. So, are you going to rebuild your CS1 cities and counties in CS2, taking advantage of all the assets and tools you'll have in CS2 that you didn't have in vanilla CS1?
2. If you are, which would you redo second, assuming that you'd do Tutoria first?
BTW, it could be called New Tutoria, or Twotoria, to distinguish it from the original Tutoria.
Figures my first CS2 ad comes from watching one of your videos!
Since all the dlc is out now for the game a ranking of them would be good.
The problem isn't so much the mods, but rather the settings for visual mods to make the game look better (non-cartoony, more realistic, and decent sky reflections in water) like your videos. It's too easy to mess up the visuals in CS in my opinion.
Unfortunately TMPE breaks my game :(
Totally agree on TM:PE. It's a wonderful mod. However, it really is *way* too much power for the vast majority of cases.
How I feel exactly: "I really must have TM:PE, but I really wish that I didn't need it at all."
Which, I suppose is a primary motivation for CS II.
I've subscribed to almost all the mods immediately, I trust your judgement. Only I've found that the new Unified UI doesn't support Network Multitool and Node Controller yet.
Also I'm surprised that you don't have Advanced Vehicle Options on your list, to get rid of those crazy Bug Spray and Donut Vans (and new Pie Trucks...)
yo bro u know you can pre order cities skylines 2 you really should
I tried out Theme Mixer and it worked beautifully at first.
Thanks
day 15 of saying Hey Phil how’s it going today?
Thanks for these videos actually learned more about the functionality of mods I've been using for years
First off, CPP, stellar job!
Which mod removes the panels for News Feed, DLC, Paradox Account and Steam Workshop in thr opening main menu of the game?
Less steam I think?
@@kyokazuto thanks! I checked out Less Steam (deprecated) and was led to Control It. Works great!
5:30 this mod is better than the greek mathematics^^
Please make a video on making intersection 8:45
Can anyone tell me what mod is giving me all achievements? Unlock all is disabled
It was game anarchy
Well I found new mods to add to my list. I learnt new ways to use mods that I have been using for a while. Thanks Phil!
I miss CWC. Saturdays were for CWC
Great list. Thank you!
Hey I learned some functionality that I hadn't considered to some of these "Essential" mods! Thank you for putting this mini-series together!
How are these sidewalks with tiles made?
how to download harmony for new version
Great video! Thnak you!
Thank you, comrade!
Now I want to play in this city...
Seeing someone from wisconsin make great videos is an inspiration dude, it’s super cool to see that
The road marking tool has a mode for invisible lines; no need to make transparent solid ones.
Coming in clutch right out the gate with a not broken Prop Line Tool. Nice!
