I bought the black APL55 this summer before the silver color was available, and it ran great on a three-week road trip.
The silver color looks cool too! Anyway good video!👍

If I had an extra cab I'd pick one of these up but I'm running with a reg cab Taco and with my Kimbo there is no room......I use a Yeti cooler to augment the little fridge in the Kimbo and just set it outside when stationary. Thanks for sharing!

Best review of the Iceco APL55 bro especially for my case. I been going back and forth on the APL55 and the VL45. I planning on storing in the back of my gen 3 tundra under a bed cover, so looks like this wont be able to do it. Thanks for the review!!

    Nice review.
    I’m really liking my APL55.
    I paid $687 delivered.
My only issue is the unit does not come with a storage bag or place for storing the divider and the top is susceptible to dents and scratches.
I haven’t figured out the storage fix but for the top I cut out a 1/8” thick black diamond patterned rubber floor mat and attached it with double sided tape. Works and looks great.
Lastly I chose not to get the battery pack but got an Anker 535 power generator and a 120w solar panel.
With about 5 hours of good sun my APL55 should run off the grid indifferently.

I like how $900 (not on sale) is considered value or budget.

    • @TalonSei
      @TalonSei  7 месяцев назад +11

Not $900… it’s $859 before discounts, and only $687 right now. Most competitive fridges w/ size and features start at $1,000-$1200

I think the point of the comment was for a travel fridge freezer it’s very pricey and things just keep getting more expensive every year. Almost all the things i bought last year are now double the price this year even for Black Friday discounts. For $900 I’d rather just get a 12v upright mini fridge, on discount, for like $150-200 and if i can only find an AC one I’d install a 110v plug in my truck bed.

Stop being poor stuff isn’t cheap but if it’s a better value then the competition it’s a value

@@Allinoffroad Can't agree anymore...I changed from $1600+ ARB ELEMENTS to $800+ ICECO APL55. Higher quality products for half the price🤧

I wish this cooler's lid opened to the side instead of long ways since the cooler is already pretty tall most SUV's don't have the clearance to open the lid all the way up so it stays. Nobody likes to hunt around in a cooler with the lid laying on their arms obstructing your view of what's inside. That is probably the single reason I won't choose this unit for my Yukon XL. I need the lid to open all the way and stay up. Great review as always.

Shim your Diamondback up the necessary height for clearance, this will allow you to fit the frig. Good luck .

I'm a car tent camper planning a 4 month US tour. The test I would like to base my purchase of a 12v refrigerator is about keeping cold between my different stops of hotels and camps etc. What if during my 8-9 hours drive I freeze some water bottles on the freezer side will they still be frozen in the morning after no power to the frig? If I have no electric at my campsite and after 10 hours of driving can my frozen water bottles, frozen food additions allow me additional time of safe food storage. I did ok last year with my old 48 QT Coleman with. If my site had electric I use it in the tent and not the frig in the car. My small solar generator can power NY tent needs.

Great content and videos! I’m just more concerned that the price of certain things going overlanding or camping is getting out of control.

I have had a VL45 for three years and haven't had any problems until now. I considered the more expensive ARB and the cheaper bougerv, but chose ICECO cause the five-year SECOP compressor warranty.

I think I’d opt for the EcoFlow Glacier over this unit. Yes, it’s more expensive, but it just seems to be the Goldilocks size and the optional integrated battery and ice maker are nice touches. Plus I prefer the lid opening on the long side so it doesn’t require so much vertical space to open it. Thanks for the review!

Love the video, I'm currently using this ICECO APL unit as well, I love the capacity, just right for storing food whenever I'm traveling as a family of 5, and the way it closes softly which we love because my little one is taking his ice cream out and don't worry about clamp him.
