Dear Deborah Ashby, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the incredible Microsoft Access Tutorial. Your explanations were clear and concise, and your voice was easy to follow, making it a pleasure to learn from your videos. As a beginner (been using Access for just over a year now - regret why I did not learn it sooner a decade, or two ago), I found your tutorials incredibly helpful in building my skills in Microsoft Access, and I was able to progress quickly to more advanced features. I am truly grateful for your dedication to creating such high-quality educational content. Once again, thank you for your hard work and commitment to helping others learn. Your contributions to the community are greatly appreciated

The First hour and a half is very basic "Tips for using MS office" and has little to do specifically with Access.
From 1:30:00 to 3:40:00 is the introduction to Access up to creating your first link table/ relationship.
At 3:40:00 the class breaks off abruptly, just before beginning Forms, and we jump ahead to the "Advanced" portion of the class
When the class instruction picks up again at 3:47:00, we see that the forms have all been created for our exercise database. That whole section of the Beginner course, where we learned how to make forms, has been skipped.

The imports work fine in the exercises but if you change the lookup to "allow multiple values" in let's say the ActivityLevel field then you can no longer import any data into the table from excel or a text file... So what is a workaround to be able to import data into access with a table that has a lookup with "allow multiple values" enabled?

Many years ago I tryed to do some work with Access, did one database for my brothers wines, did it all from scratch just by trail and error but soon got it to work as I wanted. Then it all just stopped there, I found Excel and it was easier to use, not so advanced as Access, but not as nice to look at.
So, why not try it again and here I am, following your tutorial and enjoy every minute of it. Great work from all of you... Thumbs up from Sweden 🙂

The gaps happens when street line, or city or zip or state or fax is not available. It's a directory of 24 counties. Not all counties provided all the data. The report presents uneven space between each paragraph. Although I make same size for each field. The only field I made bigger box is the County name and drop cap to stand out. Thank you for all your videos.

Hello, Deb; question: is everything done in DB, forms, and design mode; has the corresponding VBA code behind the screen?
IOW, is everything we see in an Access DB will have a VBA code behind it?
Could all the screens, including aesthetics (look, layout, color scheme) be created with VBA code in Access?
Finally, does Simon Sez It have a similar extended course of using VBA with Access?

How do you make multiple lines text fields? The only way is CTRL+Enter but you see just a part of the text and you can't add a scrollbar. If you increase the field height it messes the resolution of the YES/NO checkbox next to it if you have one. You didn't put the original destriction of the trip which was long. You put a short version.

This is an amazing compliation however, one major hick-up I'm facing with Microsoft Access is on currency. How can I change the default currency in Microsoft Access 2019 in a manner that it works for all data?
It seems this bit hasn't been exhaustively figured out.
I'm new to this but I feel like there's some coding that can be done somewhere to offer a more satisfying permanent solution for one's Access copy.

Deborah, The text file "EspiritDeTourTripImport.txt does not import. Error Message = FieldDuration Days does not exist in destination table 'tbltrip'. I have checked, it does appear in the tbltrip table in access, but not in the text file. It does not import the excel file with the same message, but Field Duration Days is in the excel file as well as the Access file. I can not go any further, because the files do not import.
Deborah I am sorry. It was my mistake. I found it and corrected it. In my table the field name "DurationDays" was only "Duration". Therefore, because the field name was different, Access did not want to allow it to be imported. After I corrected it, it imported perfectly.

Hey Deb, at 2:00:01, there's a check box feature that appears on the "Country" selection column in the datasheet view that isn't covered in the narrative. Since I just started watching this series, I'm wondering if that will be covered at a later time in the series. If so, you might consider adding some kind of subtitle that effect so folks aren't sitting around wondering what was missed.

I don't get the excitement in the comments. I would have preferred a basic course, explaining how to build a database from tables, to form, to views and reports... Ant then moving into more advanced stuff, like relations and whatnot. Instead the course goes from something very basic, like how to make bold font, or table creation, to then spend a lot of time talking about filters, indexes.... without ever even touching forms and such. Not practical at all for real cases, especially for the hours invested, not much is teached that can be applied effectively

I love Deb's accent -- but the audio quality is horrible. It sounds like she's recording in the bottom of a steel barrel, and the hollow reverberation makes her very difficult to understand.
Also, at the introduction a man says that they are making the tutorial sample files available for free. That's true -- but it comes with a big caveat: To get them you have to provide your e-mail address and agree to subscribe to their mailing list. Your mileage may vary, but that's not a fair exchange. Give me the files, let me do this course, and THEN if I like it I might subscribe. Trying to force me to subscribe in advance is a complete turn-off.
