  • London's Freemasons have funded two 64-metre turntable ladders for the London Fire Brigade, they are the UK's tallest fire appliances and reach up to 23 floors in height. Firefighter Andy Wilson tests out one of these ladders at Dagenham Fire Station taking it up to it's full working height of 64 metres.

    In 1965 LFB had 42 TL/ALP appliances which steadily reduced to just 13 ? possibly 15 today. Any other comparable city in the world would have more than treble that number. Part of the problem is greatly reduced government funding. Another part is that LFB is managed by a private company Asset Co and they have fire coverage to the bone. In order to maintain share dividends they have twice threatened to go bust in order to blackmail the government to subsidise them. At the time of the Grenfell Tower disaster aerial appliances had been removed from the pre determined attendance at high rise fires. The first aerial arrived 32 minutes after the first call and the second took almost 2 hours. Freemasons are the largest charitable givers in the UK mostly anonymously.

      The low point were 11 or less around Grenfell Tower disaster.
      After that new standard Ladders were ordered 13 or 15. They reach up to 7 or maybe 9 floors.
      They should be allready in full use.
      Around the same time this 64 Ladder was announced by the Freemasonary.

    • @paxundpeace9970
      @paxundpeace9970 2 года назад
