Great video it was very good and I use Wella and love the shine finity range I love using the 9/81 with 9/07 shine finity with a bit of 8/98 perfect blonde colour and toner seems to last longer and not fade gold
Hi, used for the first time yesterday! Loved it! Used 8/98 at the basin to cancel out warmth in balayage pieces - worked like a dream! I observed it and only left on for 5 mins (I didn’t want it to darken any further) will wait to hear back from client regarding the longevity. It’s felt so soft afterwards - great shine.
Hi Craig, I used Shinefinity today for the first time. I really liked it. My color turned out nice, lots of shine and softness. I loved how it rinsed out as well. I think your video was great!! Kay
I’ve been using SF for a couple of months and I’ll sum it up the way Beth Minardi would. Alkaline demis like Color Touch have a finish that is very opaque like coffee w cream in it. They are great for lowlights bc they last forever and can cover grey 100% mixed in her method, and correcting harder to neutralize underlying pigment like copper. But they tend to rough the hair up a little more bc they are alkaline and can bump the base. SF starts out slightly alkaline and comes down to acidic towards the end, and has a finish more sheer like a glass of ice tea, u can see through it. It’s great for refreshing mid lengths while u have the regrowth formula on bc it’s so gentle. It’s great for blonds w/o worrying ur over toning and it going dark. They are also great for root shadows bc they lift out much easier than a CT RS would. I recently toned a warm balayage that had contributing 8,9, and 10 reflects with equal parts 9/61 and 7/81 for the full 20 min and it gave it a very pretty multitonal neutral to controlled warm finish - so it didn’t totally matten it in the same way a similar CT formula would. Also the full 20 min is needed to process for the advertised longevity and to match the swatch intensity imho.
Marvellous insight, great that you’ve been enjoying it. Shinefinity was developed to fit into the gloss/glaze category, something Wella was missing in their portfolio…hence why I’ve made the comparison to SEQG.
TYSM for your comment!! I recently bleached my dark brown hair and I'm trying to go to strawberry blonde. It's my first time bleaching so everything is very overwhelming even though I'm not a stranger to dying my hair. I've been at a standstill trying to figure out the toning part. I want to remove brassiness but strawberry blonde is obviously very warm so I'm confused how to go about it. I want it to be multi-tonal with lowlights and highlights. Since I bleached with Wella Blondor I thought I'd keep it in the same brand & use CT for the toner. But there is so much fuss about shades EQ. Which is overwhelming and confusing. I also want to do a shadow root & I'm about 1/3 gray. I'm taking a screenshot of your comment and I will keep it in mind. Very hard to find any info on color touch vs shades EQ.

To learn more than the company provides I have been watching literally hundreds of videos now and trying things on my own hair. To get some purple out of my hair I did a bleach bath - my hair apparently loves bleach because my natural level 3 hair got to about a 7 coppery with the bleach bath. I used the SF 05/98 and loved it! I am about 2.5 weeks out and do not follow prime care (very warm showers and wash 3-4 times a week) my hair is still shiny and the color has of course faded a bit, love it at the moment the /98 was able to cancel out the brassiness I had from the BB. I am going to continue to play with the SF for the next few months focusing on the 05/whatever to 07/something or other to see what I can get out of the hair. In my shop we do sell the made for consumer use Wella products and it is fun to compare the 2.

Hi Deborah. Shinefinity doesn’t have enough “energy” to lift the hair - its a “zero lift” demi permanent. The same can be said of Shades EQ….where you mixing it with the designated Processing Solution…?
@@kittymom2012 If you’re toning with shades eq gloss it should just be processing solution, the developers are for the shades eq lacquers, sorry if I’m misunderstanding 😁 I use shades gloss with the processing solution and I get no lift, but if I use 10 or 20 volume I do tend to get lift

Really enjoyed this video and have subscribed to your RUclips channel. I am currently growing out my bleached and coloured ends and don’t want to bleach my hair again but don’t know what to do with it once all the colour has grown out. Thinking of giving this product a try but don’t know where to begin with picking out of all the shades. My hair is light/medium brown naturally. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi Anne, thanks for watching and for the support by subscribing, I really appreciate it. Hmmm, it’s tricky to give out hair colour formula ideas without having more info of what result you’d be looking for…? Something like a demi-permanent is a good, low commitment way to go.
As a client. I've seen this being advertised as a new product in the salon I go to. If I ask for it... Will it work on my greys or is it not suitable. (I'm about 50% grey now.).
Hi, Craig! I’ve been using REDKEN shades eq mauve rose but it’s getting harder and harder to get it here in Germany so I thought about changing products. I don’t want just a pastel pink… I want this dusty rose that I had with the REDKEN. Is it the Wella Shifinity glaze pink a good option? Also, I still have the REDKEN developer that I used to mix with the shades eq. Could I use it with the shifinity? Thank you xoxo!
Hi Ursula, thanks for watching. I would probably suggest you stay with SEQG to be honest, SF is a different type of demi-permanent and you might not get a similar result. You can probably replicate the shade you’re using by mixing other shades….I’m afraid I can’t suggest a new formula without seeing you in person - the pastel with something else could be an option??? I would strongly advise that you only ever mix designated developers with colour lines, you could get very unpredictable results otherwise
Hi, thank you so much for the amazing value! I’m not a hairdresser but I want to use it to make my hair shine but without changing the colour. Should I get the 00 one and just apply it on the hair as instructed or I should mix it with something?
Hi, thanks for this very instructive video ! Would you say this product is accessible (knowledge wise) to a non professionnal ? Just turned my hair pink recently into a salon, but I definitely hate to go too often and am looking for a product that I could use at home to make some touch ups between 2 appointments (I'm not afraid to educate myself though) Also can you use 2 tones to get slightly darker roots and lighter ends ? Thank you 😊
Hi, you’re most welcome. It would be tricky to make a true pink with Shinefinity - it’s not a direct dye. It would take some knowledge of the line/hair colour to get a good result. Thanks for watching.
Hi Craig I think you are amazing thanks for sharing all of your knowledge. I have got level nine hair that is a little ashy it has Demi on it and my gray... there is about an inch of it. I am considering going a little darker...can shinfiinity be used as a filler? And then even if it cannot and I wanted to add some Darkness or Dimension how many levels darker could I go and be safe how do you feel this would affect my gray roots versus my blonde mids and ends? I am not a professional but just want to go a little darker for the Autumn season coming up and I am fine with something very subtle
Hi Sherry, thank you, that’s very kind and much appreciated. Those are BIG questions for me to answer remotely I’m afraid, there’s just too much to it. Shinefinity is a great product - but as far as formula/and your hair I can’t help specifically. I wouldn’t over think “filler” - if your hair isn’t bleached to the lightest possible paper white, you can go straight in with a product like SF. Good luck with it.
Hi Frankie…thanks for watching. I’ve used a few of the styling products (some of the sprays) and really enjoyed them. Do you have favourites from the line…?
love shinefinity. could i mix it with shades eq gel activator instead of wella's shinefinity activator (i'm running out of it and plan to switch forever to shinefinity and leave shades eq behind but want to use up the shades eq activator). all hairdressers tell me that it should be perfectly fine but to make a strand test before just to be sure. what do you think?
@@theworldofcraig ok, thank you for your reply. so, i've seen the video. the arguments are not particularly convincing with the sole exception if they are aimed at inexperienced professionals - working on paying clients and being extra sure. for experienced professionals and experienced diy users, not. comments reflect that, too.
@@danielamestanek7899I helped to develop and test Shinefinity…and I’ve met the chemists that work on SEQG. You can do what you want but I wouldn’t advise it, there are ingredients that are unique in both of them that affect the way the pigment is oxidised in the hair. You did ask for my opinion…

@@theworldofcraig Thank you for your quick respond! I understand! Yes, I know, but the hair needs to rest, so I just want to put a "waiting" color in it, a treatment that is not damaging. It is more a dull/mudd/"colorless" color, but it feels green. Again: Thank you! I just had to ask ...

hi i’m hoping you’ll see this. i want to try this product to give myself a pinky \ amber undertone to my hair. my natural hair is a level 6/7. can you recommend which shades to use from shinefinity to achieve this look. i was thinking mixing 07/59 and 07/34 ? do you recommend that might work? x
Hi Jessica, thanks for watching. It’s really hard for me to give out formulas without actually seeing your hair - the shades you’ve mentioned have both warm and cool tones, so the wouldn’t really give you a “pink/amber” reflect, it would be more soft/cool mahogany/gold warmth. Might be tricky to see any reflect if your hair is natural at that level you mentioned.
I have red tones in my dark brown hair and was looking at the 4/12 to neutralise red/orange tones, if I get some of this on my 1 inch natural regrowth which is a cool brown, would it turn it a strange green colour do you think or should I avoid my root?
Hi there It depends really on the canvas the colour is going on - it would need to be a level 10 (very light blonde) I would suggest adding some Clear into the formula so the result isn’t too deep. Thanks for your kind words. 👨🏼🙏🏻🤍
Will this lift natural color? I’m growing out my natural hair color and don’t want to put anything on it that will stain it then have to start all over again. I’m a natural level 7 and growing out blonde highlights
I need help. My hair was platinum silver I decided I wanted to go back to my natural mushroom ash brown but leave. Halo of blonde. I stupidly put on an ash brown and it went light gingery will a shinefinity rectify this even though I have warm blond gingery dye. I was looking at the 06/71 frosted chest nut. I’m not a hairdresser but I’ve been doing my own hair for over 10 years
I’m afraid it’s impossible for me to give you help without seeing your hair, there are just way to many factors. From what you’ve said it sounds like you should be careful with what you put over the top - was it a permanent colour that you used? Shinefinity is a demi permanent glaze, it has NO lifting properties to it…
Hi I bleach my hair more now and have gone blond to avoid having to continuously cover my grays... However I'm also really pale and I feel like this blond washes me out completely and so I really love the shadow root against the blond but I hadn't been doing it because it was so rough on the hair every time my hairdresser needed to add highlights again at the crown. So my question is , would this be a better option for a shadow root and could I keep that up myself?
So is shades eq a toner ? If I put it in my bleached hair can I go on as usually with my root touch ups every 6 weeks or will it be a provlem? Because you said it’s a Demi permanent color I’m afraid What should I use to cancel out yellow and orange in a level 10 hair ?
Hi there, thanks for watching. Sure, Shades EQ can be used to tone. Using it that way won’t interfere with your touch ups. I do have SEQG dedicated videos here on my channel.
So I used to have light brown roots and blonde mids and ends my hair dresser put shinefinity on and it turned dark brown… now I wonder if it will come out all the way or if I can do something to make it come out?
Hi there, thanks for watching. It’s hard to be exact without seeing you hair (so many variables!) Shinefinity is a demi permanent, so it will (the porosity of the hair plays a part) fade with shampooing. The biggest and safest tip I could give you would be to use the warmest water you can bear (please don’t burn yourself!) and a clarifying shampoo.
@@theworldofcraig My experience is that both EQ and Shinefinity do cover about 70% of my gray - I'm brunette with a bit of natural red tone as it grows out and about 50% gray currently - I love the shine and the slightly transparent color I get with both. Shinefinity seems to cover better than EQ (been using it for a year, used EQ for around 6 years). Other than needing heat with EQ (but not Shinefinity) both work well in my experience.
@paulieproffett Hi there, thanks for watching, I’m so glad you get the result you’re after, that’s great! I personally wouldn’t recommend applying heat to Shades EQ Gloss as it changes the deposit, which could give a regrowth - the U.K. directive from Redken (I don’t work for the brand, I’m just a SEQG STAN) is to process at room temp….in the US lots of folks use heat. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight.
That’s right…as with Shades EQ. I don’t bother with the 0’s when talking about formulations though, life is short enough as it is, ha. Thanks for watching. 👨🏻🙏🏻
It’s formulated to be used with the Shinefinity developer. I really wouldn’t recommend mixing it with anything else….or doing that with any demi-permanent for that matter.

Now, My hair is not colored anymore (virgin hair) and I am legit scared to get a lift... Hi Manon, sorry to hear you had a bad experience…glad you’re over the other side now. You sure could apply Clear with the developer for shine only. Hi Anne, thanks for watching and for the support by subscribing, I really appreciate it. Hmmm, it’s tricky to give out hair colour formula ideas without having more info of what result you’d be looking for…? Something like a demi-permanent is a good, low commitment way to go.
Fabulous review , I will check this out for sure , thanks
Thank you….let me know what you think when you have?!
As a client. I've seen this being advertised as a new product in the salon I go to. If I ask for it... Will it work on my greys or is it not suitable. (I'm about 50% grey now.).
Hi there, thanks for watching and your comment. It’s really not formulated for grey coverage…it will blend a little…
@@theworldofcraig thank you for replying!

Thanks Wendy, that’s very kind and is much appreciated. 👨🏻🙏🏻✨
Hi Craig, Could I use the 7/81 shinefinity on my level 6 hair? I want to knock out brassiness and love the wella /81 undertone
You sure could…it’s not as opaque as Color Touch but it would definitely help to knock out warmth.
@@theworldofcraig love you! Thank you for the advice 😘
You’re welcome! 👨🏼🙏🏻💗
Hi, thank you so much for the amazing value! I’m not a hairdresser but I want to use it to make my hair shine but without changing the colour. Should I get the 00 one and just apply it on the hair as instructed or I should mix it with something?
Hi Elena, thanks for watching! You certainly could do that - you do need to mix it with its developer, otherwise it won’t work.
Hi, thanks for this very instructive video ! Would you say this product is accessible (knowledge wise) to a non professionnal ? Just turned my hair pink recently into a salon, but I definitely hate to go too often and am looking for a product that I could use at home to make some touch ups between 2 appointments (I'm not afraid to educate myself though)
Also can you use 2 tones to get slightly darker roots and lighter ends ?
Thank you 😊
Hi, you’re most welcome. It would be tricky to make a true pink with Shinefinity - it’s not a direct dye. It would take some knowledge of the line/hair colour to get a good result. Thanks for watching.
@@theworldofcraig thanks for your reply !
Question! Have you ever tried any Kevin Murphy products and/or what are your thoughts on them? Thanks ! ^^
Hi Frankie…thanks for watching. I’ve used a few of the styling products (some of the sprays) and really enjoyed them. Do you have favourites from the line…?
Thank you for sharing, very informative , I loved it and it taught me a lot. #neverstoplearning.
Thanks for watching…and thank you for the kind words, so glad you found it helpful. 👨🏻💗
love shinefinity. could i mix it with shades eq gel activator instead of wella's shinefinity activator (i'm running out of it and plan to switch forever to shinefinity and leave shades eq behind but want to use up the shades eq activator). all hairdressers tell me that it should be perfectly fine but to make a strand test before just to be sure. what do you think?
It is a great product. No - I really wouldn’t mix brands. I have a dedicated video on why I don’t advise it.
Dear Craig! Thank you very much for this post!! Loved this as well
Hi there! You’re most welcome and thanks for watching.
I’m afraid I can’t give out specific formula/shades advice - and to be honest, you need to remove the green tone first…it isn’t as simple as warming it up a little. There is an entire playlist on toning here on my channel that might help.
@@annaenavs8202You see the thing is, if you feel it’s already deep/dark/not the tone you want, adding a “waiting” colour will just intensify what it is now.
@@theworldofcraig I see! Deep down I want to be a cold 7 (my natural which I haven´t had for yeeeears). Ok, I just have to wait a couple of months before I go to a professional. Daily ponytail it is then ...(Gud I hate this color)
You are so kind answering all the comments! Thanks a milion for that. Have a lovely evening!
Sorry Craig one more question what would happen with a golden blonde just a little warmer tone and some red but all that same product?
Not sure what you mean here…?
hi i’m hoping you’ll see this. i want to try this product to give myself a pinky \ amber undertone to my hair. my natural hair is a level 6/7. can you recommend which shades to use from shinefinity to achieve this look. i was thinking mixing 07/59 and 07/34 ? do you recommend that might work?
It’s a zero lift product, so it doesn’t have enough “energy” to add that much tone.
@@theworldofcraigok thanks for replying, good to know!
hello
Hi there
It depends really on the canvas the colour is going on - it would need to be a level 10 (very light blonde)
I would suggest adding some Clear into the formula so the result isn’t too deep.
Thanks for your kind words. 👨🏼🙏🏻🤍
Please give the colors equivalent to the Redken Shades E Q to cover gray thank you!
I’m not sure what you’re asking - Shades EQ Gloss don’t cover grey…?
Will this lift natural color? I’m growing out my natural hair color and don’t want to put anything on it that will stain it then have to start all over again. I’m a natural level 7 and growing out blonde highlights
No, it’s a “zero lift” product - as long as you mix it with its designated developer.
@@theworldofcraig ok thank you so much!
Hi there, thanks for watching. Shinefinity is a great line for a shadow root - whether you could apply it yourself is really up to you…
@@theworldofcraigthank you I'm going to try
Hi, can I use the 00/00 crystal glaze on any coloured hair?
Hi, thanks for watching. You sure can.
So is shades eq a toner ? If I put it in my bleached hair can I go on as usually with my root touch ups every 6 weeks or will it be a provlem? Because you said it’s a Demi permanent color I’m afraid
What should I use to cancel out yellow and orange in a level 10 hair ?
@@theworldofcraig thank you I will try ❤️
Your amazing to learn from! Thank you
And thank you for watching! 👨🏻🙏🏻✨
Hello
I bleached my hair to a balayage dark orange. Can you tell me what should i use to cover orange but still have some lightness..thank you❤
Hi there, thanks for watching. Afraid it’s impossible to keep the blonde “bright” and get rid of orange…you have to lift the hair lighter first.
@@theworldofcraig i mean like a dark ash blonde. In the past i covered and the result was a medium brown. And i wanted lighter like a dark ash blonde.
But can you repeat this gloss every 6 weeks without any damage ??
You certainly can. There isn’t enough “energy” in the product to do your hair any damage. Always follow the manufacturers guidelines.
Thank you for this 😊
…and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 👨🏻💗
Do you have to have a license to buy the Shinefinity?
Hiya. We don’t have licences for hair pro’s here in the U.K. - you would need a pro card/account though.
does it cover first greys?or does revlon one better for that?thanka
Hi there, thanks for watching. It’s not formulated to cover grey
@@theworldofcraig thanks!i think it cover almost a little😢
@@theworldofcraig and Redken shades eq cover any % of greys?thanks for sare your knowthinking and experience!
Can you mix this with the color charm?
Hi there. No - it has a completely different formula.
I’d love to test it on my own swatches ….
Sure…always worth doing that 🙌🏻
Zero in front of the shade means zero lift
That’s right…as with Shades EQ. I don’t bother with the 0’s when talking about formulations though, life is short enough as it is, ha. Thanks for watching. 👨🏻🙏🏻
Interesting
Wella products are fab
Some of them are fab for sure.
Can you use 6% developer?
It’s formulated to be used with the Shinefinity developer. I really wouldn’t recommend mixing it with anything else….or doing that with any demi-permanent for that matter.
OMG GET TO THE POINT
How incredibly rude. Thanks for watching.
Hello Craig, I am recovering my hair from having a chemical bleach burnt and a "bleach cut" with a reckless hairstylist. Now, My hair is not colored anymore (virgin hair) and I am legit scared to get a lift... I just want a clear gloss, so do you think I could use the shinefinity 2% developer with the 00/00 to get a shine boost? Should i get a patch test before or I should be fine?
Thank you so much! I have been binge watching your videos and they are very informative 👌
Hi Manon, sorry to hear you had a bad experience…glad you’re over the other side now. You sure could apply Clear with the developer for shine only. Definitely patch test before - even though there is no pigment in Clear its what the brand would recommend and I like to follow a guideline. I’m so pleased you’re enjoying my content, your kindness has made my day! 👨🏻🙏🏻✨
@@theworldofcraig Thank you so much for your answer Craig :) I will definitely test patch and if it goes well, I will go for it 🥰
