It was a "BAND" effort, not one person taking the credit (though the media credited Jim with everything). Manzarek made the keyboards sound like guitars, but Krieger didn't complain, and Densmore was happy where he was giving the beat & setting the rhythm
YES I AGREE FULLY NOW SOME TRIVIA, BUT TRUE , GIVEN THE SOURCE BE BOTH MANZAREK AND HENDRIX Per Manzarak, he was A JAZZ SNOB until he went to see a group called LOVE in 1965, and in his own words "they blew my mind my mind, never seen anything like it, i was excited" he ruhed to tell the group you have to come see this group LOVE---they all were YES!! I WILL SUGGEST WITHOUT MANZARAK, he laid the foundation to give the genius of Jim M.to DELIVER HIS POETRY. Based on this LOVE were the the first to create PSYCHEDELIC, FURTHER PROOF BEING JIMMI HENDRIX PLAYED WITH THEM TO LEARN THEIR SOUND . Jimmi was quite humble, saying, i was a very quick learner, and will say i happen to be the first guitarist to play the amplifier--and in his lat interview he said i am TIRED OF BEING JIMMI HENDRIX AND TIRED OF PLAYING AMPLIFIERS and he was going to change completely---- see the great last interview with Hendrix His Final interview AND LEARN WHAT DEEP AND YES SAD MAN HENDRIX WAS AT THE END, ruclips.net/video/7P0cJhQ1200/видео.html
Robbie, ray, john and Jim made some of the greatest music to have ever been made. Jim couldn't have done it himself. All their different elements, and perosnal genres came together like no other band. It wasn't the Jim Morrison band, it was the fucking doors.
GREAT song. I remember as a kid I used to crank this up, put on my headphones , light my incense, and turn on black light ..My Parents hated it.... still love the 60's and 70's music
The Strange Days album came out in 1967 when I was 17 years old. When The Music's Over has been my favorite song since the first time I heard it... now over 50 years ago. I put together a playlist here on RUclips called For My Wake, and this song and The End are the last ones on that playlist... the Music is your Special Friend... turn out the lights! :-)
Not only my favorite Doors song that gave me much comfort when I was younger but think about it; this is more advanced than classical or opera as we think about now, and this is certainly the classical music of the future.
Utterly unique, no one has ever sounded like The Doors and so many wonderful tunes. The tension built up, explodes and then the finale,..... and the words--- ' cancel my subscription to the resurrection' 'tied her with fences and dragged her down' etc, so much there, 15 when I first heard this, it sounds as fresh today.
Thanks for sharing ~ They were what they became, because they were, a BAND... Not just a singer with backup music ~ NEVER would've been the same without ALL four!
I used the whole "what have they done to the Earth?!" section to get an A in history class, when we were tasked to write something from the point of view of it the Indegenous Peoples of Amsricas. I was born in 1980, but I LOVED the Doors since ce I was 14
When I was in college, there was a radio station in NYC where the DJ who signed off at midnight by playing this song. Most nights, in NH, we could get his station in. We had the album with this song but somehow, it was cool to hear him play it every night. I don't know why - I was in college!
Great band. But the sin of man is to worship one. God is ultimate but in his band he has all these saints and apostles. But we all seem to pray to only one. In the Doors Jim was god . It's easy to only acknowledge him and forget about the others. It's human nature. RIP Jim.
my favorite part: WE WANT THE WORLD AND WE WANT IT... now NOW. AAAAAAAAA PERSIAN NIGHT BAB SEE THE LIGHT BAB SAVE USSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS JESUUUUUS SAVE USSSSSSSSSSSSS
They were a great band,Not just Jim,but all were very accomplished musicians
Tier 1: Morrison
Tier 2: Krieger, Manzarek
Tier 3: The drummer guy
The drummer guy?? Densmore is great

1970-1971 was a terrible year for rock and roll, we lost three legends all way to young. "When the musics over...turn out the light"
Not only my favorite Doors song that gave me much comfort when I was younger but think about it; this is more advanced than classical or opera as we think about now, and this is certainly the classical music of the future.
I agree ~ and Pink Floyd will also be tomorrow's classical music.
no, classical will still be classical.. Morrison was a fan of classical and he would agree.
