I recently came across your channel and am not here as much for the topics you are discussing, but rather how you make videos! Im a small youtuber and am trying to get more serious about my channel as a business (not side hustle!) Ive learned many things from you. One: your backdrop looks professional and your camera angle is stratigic. You are straight to the point with no fluff. You are very well versed in these topics you discuss. You have done your youtube research for how to improve videos! You have broken down the analytics way more than i would think to, which has given you a clear direction moving forward. I really appreciate your channel and you inspire me to take my yt videos even more seriously! Keep going, i definitely will be!
Thanks for this video and your openness and transparency! We have been so conditioned for hype and a dopamine dump that it is so refreshing to hear sincerity. This is truly your calling card, as well as any content creator that wants to make it long term. This, I truly believe, is the way forward, as instant information gets to be very saturated, people are very quickly becoming savvy to true value versus self fish value. As far as my #1 tip for starting RUclips - put in the effort to learn how to make high quality videos. The proof in the pudding is that I got to 1K subs (with a 6 month break in the middle) by having only 12 long form videos.
Hey William, I’ve been onboard since I discovered you about a month or so ago. Can’t wait for your next video and the progress you’ve made financially with the channel. I’ve been trying hard to get in a consistent place of releasing videos for success myself. Thanks for your content
I appreciate the facts and your surprise. I'm finding both topics very watchable. I hope you continue. I'd love to follow your journey to "SIX FIGURES!!!" with jiggly stickers, neon colors and you in the classic Home Alone pose. 😊
Hey Will, I am missing your honest and truly insighful videos. I'd like to know. 1) What mind tricks people could learn from the successful people you know. 2) Your take on opportunities using AI 3) Good general business strategies. The various types and what sort of people suit waht sort of strategy. 4) what things are generally a waste of time. 5) How your are doing. There is a real lack of truth these days on social media. People like you help redress the balance.
Hi william Really enjoy your vedio thanks for sharing ,i just started my youtube channel recently, this vedio is very helpful thanks for the honest content, God bless
Hello William. I just started my RUclips channel recently and your channel is very helpful on the insight you provide for newer channels. Definitely helps me on how I should improve for my channel. This is a journey for all of us and very excited to see how this all turns out within time. Thank you for your video, they’re great! 👍🏻
Man, I still remember that one video about selling on Etsy when your channel was around 5k. What I liked about it was the clarity. You managed to make me understand better about how the commission works and gave your honest insights about it in an interesting way.
You don't think that is a sign people are have financial problems? In my opinion I have notice some of the financial channels seem to grow well during times of financial stress.
Thanks for sharing and being transparent. interesting that you split personal finance and entrepreneurship videos. I just started YT and will evaluate after 6 months to see if it makes sense to split as well. Very helpful video. thanks for sharing.
I have the same dilemma with two topics on my channel. These two topics are so disparate that I have considered making two channels, but didn't in fear that I would confuse the audience. I'm keeping both because my poorly watched videos supply my main working and living website and the other topic fuels the channel. Very good and personally provocative topic.
Yeah, it was really a dilemma. Still don't know if I made the right choice to split the channel, but the new one is of to a good start, so fingers crossed!
Man i have subscribed and watched few of your videos because of your sincerity. There are tons of content here on the same subject. Did you take this into account while doing all this calculations? 😊 I hope you don't change as you grow your channel
Awesome! Thank you! Regarding deciding which topics to make videos about, yes, I definitely do look to see what topics are popular. There's not much point to making videos that few people want to see.
i’ve learnt such valuable tips from this one video ! ive been wanting to start my channel for some time now and i watched a lot of videos on this topic but your videos were the only ones which I found to be extremely honest and v well thought out. thank you so much !
Could you do a video showing your setup (cameras, mics, lights, edition soft, etc.)? I'm thinking on starting a YT channel, so a video like this would be very helpful! Thanks.
William, thanks for the video and clear language you use. One thing that I felt was missing from this “post-mortem” is how much effort was applied to reach this level of revenue. In one of your Etsy videos you broke it down really well - that is you calculated an average dollar amount earned per hour. Would be great to know this ratio for your RUclips effort. Thanks!
You are so welcome. Yes, it can definitely be tough and discouraging, but persistence and continuous improvement in your video quality will greatly increase the odds that you'll find success.
This is actually super helpful! Can I ask if you’d do a review of what the process was in separating out your videos into the two channels, and, I suspect, how that affected your income (positively or not)? I am in the early stages of building my channel and was actually thinking about this potential issue with overlapping topics, so your experience with that would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi Mr. Lee, we would like a video about the revenue earned in other regions/countries, and whether or not English contents are more favored than those in other languages-according to RUclips algorithm of course. Thank you
Thanks for the info. I’ve often wondered if I made a mistake by mixing two niches, but I thought there would be enough people who would like both technology and tools, but I think RUclips’s algorithm just isn’t tuned for crossover between two niches.
Interesting initial analysis. The “Peak” you experienced, coincided with/ ETSY push. Kids today are going to need RE ed. In Florida, when the market turns, there’s going to be a dirth of insurance foreclosures and retirement 2nd & 3rd. homes coming back on line. Good times….😊
I subscribe to a lot of channels and one thing that makes me come back is answering the comments. Channels who answer or respond to comments are on the list of my most watched. In fact I don't really like channels who never say anything in the comments. I never really know if they even read them. And as far as all the videos about making money on RUclips they never talk about some things. Like how often RUclips pays them. Do you get paid once a month, each week or what? That would make a difference if someone wants to start a channel. Also, how are you compensated for users who are premium RUclipsrs subscribers? Does it make a difference? That's just my 2 cents worth.
Hey William. Long time no see. Is everything alright in your end? It's been a while since you posted content. Hope you are well. Best wishes from Denmark.
William, Really enjoyed the videos, but Spoiler Alert, I kinda knew the answers ahead of time. Your videos on Entrepreneurship are probably reaching a younger audience, while your videos on Finance are probably reaching a slightly older audience. Both have great CPM's, but if you want to measure the consistency it is correct to keep them separate. You probably have a lock on the 50+ audience (check some of your comments) and the interests (I'm 63) of the older audience is more Retirement Financial Aid vs. Young Entrepreneur Aid. For FIRE you have to already have some wood burning for it to mean much. You aren't going to start from $0 Also at my age a side hustle of crafts or writing etc. would definetly beat out an Insta Cart side hustle running up and down the grocery aisle. Good Luck, I am stuck in Brazil until they let me go to New England to get my Video gear and come back to start my channel, so I've subscribed to both your channels to watch by the pool. 😎
Hey William , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
Just wanted to say thank u I left a comment on the 4 months ago video but thank u just subbed and liked and commented I really do want to do RUclips just need to fix my life I'm so unhappy...
I think that people are more interested in making money than in investing money that they haven't made yet. It's a chicken and egg thing. I also think that people that are making money (and have extra to invest) are probably more likely to re-invest in what currently makes them money, so fewer people are interested in other ideas.
RUclips clearly has a Pareto distributed behavior. This video has ~20k 7 months later, while your previous video on the same exact topic has over 1 million views. As someone who runs his own business, this is my take on YT: Like all social media, it's an upper funnel to your more fundamental offers/products/services. You may get paid for it, which is great, but it's so Pareto distributed that it's too uncertain how much you'll ever get paid long-term. It's better to focus on your more fundamental business offering/products/services that happen outside of social media, and then just use social media as an upper funnel with any generated money a nice to have.
Yes, same topic, but looking at the key metrics for each video side by side, viewers liked the other video much better, which I assume is why it performed much better. That's part of the challenge of RUclips.... not just in picking a topic that people are interested in, but then telling the story of the video in a way that they like and keeps them watching.
hello cousin, i am lee, you are lee, we are lee. good to meet you. our skin different colour? yes, true. i am true white woman. so are you? that is good :D
@@daxhowwedo So far it's holding up. I'm as surprised as anyone! I'll see what happens when I start posting new content again in a few days. The ESTIMATED REVENUE is not what you have received from youtube. It is the revenue earned by your youtube channel from ads and only a percentage of that amount is yours but not tje whole amount. My question how much did you received? Your title said how much youtube paid me but you showed your channel revenue. Show us a cheque or bank deposit from youtube then you have answered the question from your title.
Estimated Revenue is in fact (approximately) the amount that you receive from RUclips. It is my share from the ads. The math is this: CPM is what the advertisiers are paying Google to put an ad on your video. THEN Google puts ads on some of your videos, not all of them, and also Google takes their cut of the ad revenue. What I receive after those are accounted for is the RPM. The "estimated revenue" is approximately the RPM times the number of views.... it is how much I receive.

Hi William! Why did you quit doing youtube 6 months ago?
Will be back in a few days with new content. Took a break on RUclips to finish another project. Thanks for checking in!
