I will always remember Skyler because he always took spins and both times he was on the show he broke at least 15K before whammy-ing out. Skyler is by far my favorite contestant
good idea... although then a person might rack up $200K+ through a single question also in that bonus game, using a similar mechanic, Whammied prizes are brought back on the board

For how absolutely garbage this version of PYL was as a whole, I wish they would have brought this mechanic onto ABC's revival (but without a trivia question - you just get the money.) Two versions - Big Bank which covers just that episode's main game losses to the Whammy, and the Super Big Bank - which would cover all losses to the Whammy throughout the main game AND bonus round, AND would not reset between episodes. Put it in the Big Bucks square in the Big Bucks Bonanza to entice a player who's on the borderline of whether or not they're going to risk what they have to go into that last round. The "$500,000 becomes instant $1,000,000" rule would still apply - so that $430,000+ Whammy would have pretty much put that into an instant Million Dollar Winner square (which for a Million Dollar Mission type thing as the show continues, wouldn't be a bad idea.)
Deal or no Deal died because of it though. Also, I don't think this version is trash because it retains most aspects of PYL but it's just a slightly different game. I think the number one thing bringing it down is that GSN didn't put more effort(or money) into it.
@@guyfierimtwi Did Deal or No Deal really entirely die off because someone won a million dollars? WWTBAM didn't die after even multiple million dollar winners. I'd like to think it's because Deal or no Deal is literally just luck + stubbornness in not selling no matter what, or luck + being in a situation where literally multiple top cases exist and the only thing left is top cases. My main problem with this version of PYL is that the monitors do not change in sync. All prior Press Your Luck, plus the revised Press Your Luck by ABC, holds to the standard of "all monitors are on one thing, the light bounces around X number of times (usually 3) and then they all change at one time" - adding a skill element for even non-Michael Larson players. Board has 6 Whammies on it? Wait for the rotation. Board has 2 Whammies on it, and then you see the light ON a Whammy? That's a mostly safe strike point because it's a 1/17 chance it's going to bounce to the other one. (Which is how the infamous Spin Battle ended, but I digress.) On the GSN version, you never got to a point where there was an even semi-safe point to stop, plus them putting more Whammies on because the show was so low budget...there were very, very few big winners (and that's sadly how they wanted it.) Any revamp of PYL should not only retain what made the old show great (which ABC does very well) but give nods to the tried and true fans of the original...imagine having a Big Bucks square of $110,237 instead of $100,000, and upon hitting that square in the bonus round, the light pattern reverts to ONLY the patterns that were in play during Michael Larson's run (and those two key squares change to always having money plus a spin), so someone who was a superfan of the show in that situation, they could spin themselves up to the top prize by both luck (of hitting the $110,237 square) and the knowledge of what has changed because of it, knowing it's a reference to Larson.
This is how the big bank 🏦 space works todd Newton asks a general knowledge question then the player gives an answer if it's right he or she wins everything in the big bank 🏦 $3000 minimum

What's your favorite Big Bank Win(or loss)?
I love all of the contestants getting the questions right
Brett's, as she FINALLY won the Suzuki.
Hank's Big Bank Win.

The one where James Larson hits it on his 2nd spin
