Johnson had two good 100m races of quality within the space of 4 days during August 1987 - this run in Cologne on the 16th and then on the 19th a 9.97 in Zurich into a minus 1.0 wind.
I personally know Calvin and his son. His son won the championship for his high school. This shows that they both defonitely have the genetics and talent. Calvin also had the desire in his heart also. He also did it naturally with out the drugs.
Could you ask Calvin Smith if he took any legal supplements and whether the team USA doctor or any other doctors gave him any prescriptions, I think he mustve been just as competitive as others and any legal advantage would be interesting to know about, a lot of people ask about the doping when it comes to 80s sprinting but Id instead be interested to know what kind of thing was encouraged for clean athletes, it would provide more insight into how clean athletes can compete with those cycling steroids and the rest.

They raced each other 13 times. Johnson won seven of them, before disqualifications. Smith won only one, in the 1983 Helsinki world championship semi-final. Of the other five races, four were won by Carl Lewis and one by Dennis Mitchell, in 1991 during Johnson's comeback after being banned.
I think Ben Johnson had the fastest start in track history
No question

This race took place in Cologne, at the Müngersdorfer Stadion, not Berlin!

Calvin Smith, such a great sprinter.
Yes, he was a floater with deceptive speed.
So smooth
His only downside was that he'd constantly switch coaches, he couldve ran 9.8s
and doped just like Ben
@@moimoi4725 Proof?
This race was in Cologne, 16 August 1987
race starts at 6:50
I think this race took place in Cologne if I'm not mistaken. Two days earlier they were in Koblenz where Johnson ran 10 flat with headwind.
Back then when 9.9s were fast as shit!
still it is
Even the cameramen were trying to take Ben down!
Juice. Calvin is the best and truly natural sprinter of all time
Lol
What race was it where Ben tore a hammy before the Olympics? I've been trying to figure that out for a long time.
That was indoors. It put him out for several months. He reappeared in Zurich in 1988, taking 3rd in 10 flat to Lewis’ 9.93 and Smith finishing 2nd.
@@deangarratt4965 I know what happened in Zurich, I just didn't know what race it was where he injured his hammy. Any footage of this race?

Bem Johnson sempre turbinado.
Why were the numbskull camera guys on the track?
Nonsense!
commentator doping in France was out of control
Calvin Smith did it without doping.
The only clean Athlete in the American Team.
Sure he did...just because you lose doesn’t make you clean
@@mikerichardson60 You know something. Let us in on it.
No one shook his hand. They knew what was up.
Dumb ass check 9.79 ESPN and at the end they say he was on it too.
they have stolen him the medals due of Carl Lewis, all was and are still on drugs
CALVIN SMITH CAN RUN FAST!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Johnson could have been a mr Olympia body builder
I think the commentator was on the same drugs as Johnson.
Ben Johnson + Azolol = Winner
