- Eating ramen at two of my favorite ramen chain in Japan and of course, for my third ramen, I had to go eat at Tomita Ramen.

I went to Tokyo for the first time last November, and I ate Ichiran every single day I was there. Even went to the same location Mike went to in Shinjuku! Seriously the best ramen I've ever had and I brought their instant one back home and I make it every so often when I miss it. It gets you like 95% of the way there!

Next time try to branch out. There are so many other better places! Many were right next to you at that Shinjuku location. Love the enthusiasm, though!
@@MeowjinBoobeen to 10 or so ramen places across Tokyo and Kyoto, even one Michelin star joint, ichiran holds its own. If you think it’s McDonald’s quality just because it’s a chain, shows you haven’t been to many ramen places across Japan to know the difference.

I appreciate Mikey for being the Ichiran champion that he is. I've met a lot of people who say there's tons of better ramen places and I know a lot of locals even scoff at it, but I have yet to find a better bowl of ramen on the planet. The way the first sip of broth smacks you in the mouth is like no other. Life changing ramen.

Everyone has different taste and preference there is sooo many local’s who love ichiran just as much as mikey just look at these videos almost all patreon’s are locals not tourist’s so ichiran can’t be that bad as many say it is. I would sell my kidney to get there, anyone byuing?
I totally agree with you! Ive been to Tokyo many times, and I love many ramen shops there, but ichiran is my number 1! I introduced my husband to ichiran when I took him to Tokyo for the first time, and he loved it so much he literally has dreams about it lmao 😂 we’re finally going back soon, so we can get our ichiran cravings satisfied. Once you have ichiran, life is changed forever. I think the people who scoff at it are the type of people who need to feel “cool”. I’ve definitely heard lots of people talk like that about it too lol.

This Mike Chen youtube feature of Best Ramen Chains in Japan is absorbing to view. The reference to the various ingredients of the ramen he tries also helps to have a viewer easily imagine vicariously some of the reasons why some of the ramen dishes are selected.
As an introvert, I really appreciate that places like Ichiran exist 😊
Yeah you probably won't find many places like these in Calgary. Lots of BBQ grill places. Not as dense a population here either but it has condo places, many. Has an ok LRT system and bus network you can uber etc. Lots restaurants.

Tomita is crazy good. You can go to the second location in the Kitte building basement near Tokyo Station if you don’t want to wait in the crazy line at the home shop.
I was wondering if Mikey was going to visit Ichiran ramen and of course he did, thank you~ Definitely gonna try both of them next time I visit Japan, I hope that day comes soon!

I've heard that often, ichiran is bomb AF when you're visiting..and it is, but once you live there, there's so many amazing whole on the wall type places.

fun fact, u can actually open the side panel of ur cube . so if u come as couple or wf friends u can open it and easier to talk haha (the ichiran one), but seeing al couple behind didnt open it, either they change it since pandemic orrrr its not in every shop thing

There is an ichiran in new york but apparently it's nowhere near as good as the japanese counterpart and yet costs twice as much

Have you tried Kinryu Ramen or Zendouya Ramen? Both are quite different but also really nice (and open 24hrs in Osaka)
Try Kikanbo! I think it trumps all other ramen shops at least in Tokyo 😊
I was surprised when I went to the Haneda airport recently and they're selling boxes of Ichiran ramen you can take home with you in the airport past security! There were only three boxes left so it must be very popular as a souvenir.
Don't bother, the instant soup taste totally different from what you get from the shop.

They sell it on Amazon with Prime Delivery and it's sold in Japanese markets in the States
You should try Tatsunoya. They're from Kurume, but there are two locations in Tokyo, hopefully they're as good. Better than Ippudo IMHO, where I've had inconsistent experiences (although at their best, they were great).

You should come to Maine sometime, try all our local seafood places, a great Ramen place named Pai Men Miyaki which is out of this world good and lots of excellent bakeries and Chinese restaurants.

Hi Mike. Since you eat a lot of ramen, is it possible for you to find out what do they use to thicken the soup? I recently saw a vlog that the Japanese chef used pork fat to thicken their broth.
Sometimes they use a little bit of cream or if it’s miso ramen then obviously the miso would make the broth a little thicker.

Only go there if there are no lines. I can't believe that people actually line up for Ichiran and I'd advise you not to do it either. You're queuing for the novelty of your single space, nothing else.

awesome video! A lot of people hate on ramen chains but there is a reason they were able to expand so much. We still like both chains and mom and pop restaurants. We reviewed a few on our channel.

Hachigo at ginza is the latest 1 star Michelin ramen replacing Tsuta. Plus nakiryu has a second branch in Singapore!
Man, I wanted to try that place last week, but I got there too late and the line was insane. My feet were already hurting so I went somewhere else.
The Ichiran video from 5 years ago was the reason I went to Japan. Love seeing you back at Ichiran!!
