Great discussion. So much good info. Thank you. We shoot the catalyzed Sherwood vinyl sealer under CV. That stuff dries by the time you hang your gun back on the hook. We stack two coats of catalyzed vinyl sealer (same for CV). Since the catalyst causes a heat reaction, the two coats will cross link as long as you shoot them back to back. It's best to shoot the second coat just as the first coat is losing its tackiness (~5 minutes in a cross vent booth). That being said, the TDS for Sherwood vinyl sealer says to just use one heavy coat (5-6 wet mils) and not to build with it.
Thanks you guys for the information you are sharing. I am wood finisher in South Bay and I am considering to star water base finishes. Feel a lot more comfortable trying it out because of you guys. Best of wishes.
After i watch this video I went to S-W store and bought some vynil sealer so the guy doesn’t wanted tinted because he says it’s not tíntenle then I convinced the guy to make it white with 844 coloring at 2 ounces hope cover enough my maple wood kitchen cabinets finished with clear lacquer thanks guys
Is it wrong that I feel this giddy to use your guidance and product suggestions for finishing cabinets I made for my recently remodeled kitchen? I think not! Many thanks to both of you for helping people like me flatten the learning curve! It is much appreciated!!

Can't find yours or Dennis's youtube videos or facebook other that a few short clips. looking for how to bag a kitchen for a recoat and what product to best fill the grain on hickory cabinets that are currently clear coated natural. Thanks
@@ericreason6559 Thanks for the quick reply. I don't see the hye-coat on MK sales site. If I fill with aqua coat can it go over the existing clear coat without stripping to bare wood and if so would I then still put vinyl sealer over the aqua coat before topcoat if the original clear is still on there?
If I wanted to tint my white vinyl sealer a light to medium grey, could I just add some black mixol colorant until I get a close color match to the topcoat? Is there a better colorant I should be using for vinyl sealer?
IS THE vinyl sealer can be used over an alredy laquer finished or stained clear finished cabinets thank you. willing for your guidance on this question.
You can look up Huls, DeGussa, or Creanoca 844 Industrial Colorants. You can use 824 colorants, though these are more for making glazes and stains. Mohawk Finishing makes Base Concentrates. All these colorant materials are also known as machine colorants and also paste colorants. There's a company called Mixol that makes colorants. If you need colorants that are compatible for waterbase then you need to use the 896 line of industrial colorants. All of these paste colirants are pigments. For dyes you can use aniline powders from Lockwood Dyes or from Mohawk. Or you coukd use conxebtrated metalyzed dyes from Orosol. There's a popular concentrated metalyzed dye called Transtint. Dyes & pigmented coloring materials can be combined to make versatile & interesting coloring combinations. When I add colorant to my coatings, I add it into the reducer and then add the colored reducer to the mix. This step is called "letting down". The purpose is to not shock the coating - it happens and the resins fall out of solution. If that haooens add in a potent solvent like MEK or acetone.
Hey Eric Jorge from Atlanta Georgia , can I use the campbell agualente o. Top of vinyl sealer? And can the vinyl sealer can be sprayed with a Titan hvlp system?
Sherwin-Williams makes vinyl sealer. It's a Sher-Wood product. If you aren't set up for spraying lacquer type materials then you shouldn't use it. It's flamable and it has strong fumes. It has to be sprayed.
I was thinking about doing a cabinet job with a vinyl sealer. Are you guys using water based coatings on top of the vinyl sealers in kitchens? Also, are you putting a clear coat over the top to seal? Lastly, would you recommend an HVLP (car gun) or an airless for application of these products?
Eric Reason this is a wonderful channel. I’ve learned so much! Thank you Eric! Love it when you talk to Dennis too. A lot of great finishing techniques to learn!
Where can I get tinted vinyl sealer in CA? Pretty sure Dennis is in So-Cal. I'm in the central valley (CA). None of the paint stores around here even carry it, so I'm pretty sure if I do find it, it'll be online and not tinted.

Love that you have our flag in the backround, but when hung vertically stars go on the left.
Excellent video eric. Thanks
awesome insight..thankyou Eric and Dennis
Dennis, you rock in my book...awesome painter....
Dennis is the “King”
Hey guys, whats this "crisp n clean" etc fragrance stuff that you guys are talking about. In UK we don't know what you're on about

@@ericreason6559 many thanks
Where do we get the products to make it smell good 😁..do we just get these at Walmart
Are you guys adding the additive to CIC 1107/2800? If so assuming you do it after it's catalyzed?
Such great video so much information 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Whats the best way to refinish conversion varnish kitchen cabinet? Basically the same color..
I always recommend tinting the primer or if using dark colors use black primer. Most people don’t want the primer tinted I deal with.
Can't find yours or Dennis's youtube videos or facebook other that a few short clips. looking for how to bag a kitchen for a recoat and what product to best fill the grain on hickory cabinets that are currently clear coated natural. Thanks
We don’t have any videos on how to bag a kitchen. The best for filling hickory would be aqua coat or using the renner hye-coat.

You need a 220 or better scratch for the aqua coat. It doesn’t like vinyl sealer that much.

844 colorants

Yes I recommend a 150 or 180
Scratch.
Do you know if you can you add the SW catalyst V66V3 to the SW vinyl sealer?
Yes you can
So what kind of cat for sherwood sealer and about how much if i want to try it
Vinyl is around 40-60 and precat is around the same
@@ericreason6559 but what cat should i get
Dan Jones I don’t know where you are located or what you have access to. Pre- cat is pretty much pre-cat not much difference amongst brands
Any certain 2k's to avoid using over a catalyzed vinyl sealer or that are acid sensitive?
I don’t see the benefits of catalyzed vinyl sealer.
What is the product you’re adding?

Which Sherwood sealer do you use? They seem to have 2 available.
They have a clear and a
Pigmented. I have used both

Yes my good friend bob Klose did that for years before switching to cic products
Best advice! As always 👊🤝

Yes water over vinyl works like a champ. We both mainly use airless.
Eric Reason ok, I have an airless that I can run with a 310 tip.
Just found out my airless can’t run solvent based...😔😥
Michael Johnson glad you checked it out before having an issue
