I love Jason just as much as anyone, but he was never Metallica's front man. Singing lead vocals for a couple of minutes doesn't make someone the front man. That is and always will be James and James only. Jason was an awesome bassist and provided great backing vocals - indeed great lead vocals too.
I honestly think Metallica was at their best live here. Every single member is on their shit! Jason coming through with some badass singing
I just love how fucking metal the cut sequence from 3:50-4:02. Lars drumming so hard he looks like he gonna pass out, Jason headbanging like a crazy lunatic, James standing in front of the amps downpicking like a fucking maniac, and can’t forget my nigga Kirk standing majestically after shredding the fuck outta that guitar.
Jason brought an entirely other worldly energy to Metallica
