Both the previous versions work with the controllers. The 2017 version differs from the 2016 in two ways:
- the note 9 is too thick for the 2016 connector
- he 2017 is bundled with the controller.
But the controller is available on amazon, and is often on sale for a dozen bucks or so.
The 2015 version has a little smaller fov, I think, and only has a micro USB connector, no USB C.

I own one and the first time I used it, I had motion sickness after 5 minutes of use. Overall, it's still amazing.
Looks like a hell of a lot of fun! Almost wished I had a Samsung phone now! I got the first Oculus and a Homido V1 Virtual Reality Headset that uses a phone and it works great but the Samsung controller and software looks amazing now! Thanks for sharing!

But the Gear VR is another platform, made By Oculus, with much more options and much more optimized and professional games...

Lew you want the full experience through on some wired headphones with good sound isolation and you're transported my friend. I love mine and the roller coasters can induce motion sickness so rider beware, but it's AWESOME!

Daniel Maia i get about 4hrs of used on battery in vr.. but you can plug the power adapter into vr to play longer..
i get 5-6 hrs easily on my s7 in VR gaming, and more like 12 hrs if i strap a small battery bank to the top of the headstrap :)

nah, but its still pretty stupid to buy this. Get a real oculus rift gear you can actually play real PC VR games, and its pretty much half the price of what you have to pay for this Samsung setup. This Google/Samsung VR thing is just a toy(take it from a guy who has a BoboVR and joystick)

I have the previous version (basically the same with no bluetooth controller) and a Galaxy S7 which has a QHD display (2K), but still, the main "problem" is the fact that the display resolution is not high enough to make you see things (mostly photos and videos) as good as you might expect (at least this is my personal experience and maybe I'm too picky about these "details")
