Another great video. My recently discovered 2005 favourite is Linda Linda Linda, a Japanese school band movie starring Bae Doona. A simple story, a realistic school setting, and some great magical moments.
Glad to see you return with another list. Some great films from this year. Really intruiged to check out some of your picks. V for Vendetta (I know it came out in 06 for some) & Batman Begins were two of my favorite comic book movies as a teenager & they still hold up. Glad to see you bring up Good Night & Good Luck. I heard about it & was lucky to get a brand new copy of the DVD a few years ago & ended up really liking it mostly for David Strathairn's performance. Really loved Thank You For SMoking, a hilarious & shockingly poignant film. Great stuff.
Just realized i’ve seen very few movies from 2005.. here’s my top 10 though 10. Transporter 2 9. Red Eye 8. Wallace & Gromit Were-Rabbit 7. The Squid and the Whale 6. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 5. Capote 4. History of Violence 3. V for Vendetta 2. Kingdom Of Heaven 1. Lord of War

Please, make more videos!! Doesn't have to be best of the year! I want more, the passing, editing... i want more! The only thing that drags down A history of violence is when he breaks the guys neck at the end! Looks ridiculous, the way he does it is almost impossible. Truly ruined it for me...sadly! I love Cronenberg
My top 10 for 2005: 01) Munich 02) A History of Violence 03) Grizzly Man 04) The Proposition 05) The Devil's Rejects 06) Caché 07) The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada 08) Match Point 09) Adams æbler 10) Sin City Cheers! 🍻

Harry! You should revisit 'Munich'. I finally watched the whole dang thing last year. It kind of sings better after watching 'The Fablemans'. It's also a Post 911 film like 'WoW,' but it's only more relevant now. The ending is especially haunting.
Very solid list in a somewhat less notable year. I'm thrilled to see Junebug get reognition, which might be my favorite of the year alongside Thumbsucker, which I love for both cinematic and personal reasons -- I super identify with that protagonist and the finale is transcendant. I also might have mentioned the criminally underrated Mirrormask. Seems to be the year for above average to great character studies. Unmentioned in your video: Thumbsucker, as I said In Her Shoes Transamerica Broken Flowers Bubble Color Me Kubrick Happy Endings Me and You and Everyone You Know - I adore this audacious cross section of weirdos Lie With Me The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio Also plenty of terrific documentaries alongside the magnificent Grizzly Man. There's a wide variety amongst them. Murderball Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room The Aristocrats Sir, No Sir The Untold Story of Emmet Louis Till Midnight Movies Last Days (the one about Kurt Cobain) The Devil and Daniel Johnston Why We Fight Also, I'm deeply jealous of your world travels. Cheers.
My number one by miles would have to be Haneke’s “Cache”. Purely brilliant, like Haneke was reinventing cinema. I also love “Munich” even though it gets a bad rap. “12 and Holding” is a great little indie about how fucked up childhood can be.
Not Terry Gilliam´s best The Brothers Grimm but i remembered my parents renting that film at Blockbuster when i was 10 and that scene when the horse ate the little girl and the Muddy Monster kidnapping another faceless little girl gave me nightmares at night ...
TOP 10 FILMS OF 2005: 1. Batman Begins 2. Murderball 3. March Of The Penguins 4. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were Rabbit 5. Corspe Bride 6. The Descent 7. Walk The Line 8. Munich 9. Cinderella Man 10. Sin City
Colour Me Kubrick not at No.1..? I mean, 'Hello..Is it Jim Davidson you're looking for?' I've not seen Election, Junebug or Squid and the Whale. Other notables I haven't seen: Memoirs of a Geisha, Tsotsi, Everything is Illuminated. My personal top ten though (so far): 10. A History of Violence 9. Da Kath and Kim Code 8. Curse of the Were-rabbit 7. The World's Fastest Indian 6. Thank You for Smoking 5. The New World 4. Match Point 3. Pride and Prejudice 2. Cinderella Man 1. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
You forgot The Illustrated Family Doctor. Ok I haven’t watched the video, but you could bet everyone in the worlds life on it it’s not here and feel 100% safe.
Interesting that the Descent follows (loosely) a pattern set by films like Don't Look Now and The Changeling: a terrible tragedy setting the scene for a true horror. It kind of bummed me out. It's message was basically all hope is a delusion, and you're lucky to fantasize an escape, but instead you'll just get eaten up.
Batman Begins Constantine War of the Worlds Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire Munich Lord of War King Kong Coach Carter The Man

You just made my day !! Thanks man :)
Brokeback Mountain is my absolutely favourite (of not just 2005)...just hearing the few notes of the soundtrack makes me feel so much.
Great video as usual, though I'm a little surprised The New World didn't make your top ten. All in all, good stuff, though.
If you end the year with your Favourite Movies of 2004 you would basically end the year with a Bang

What is this gorgeous music? 🙂
The music at the beginning and the end is a Duncan Browne song called "Journey". A really great tune.
@ Thank you! And thanks for all the great videos (and for adding Vietnam to the list of places I want to visit 😊)
I remembered seeing War of the Worlds at the drive-in when it came out and it scared me once the horn come on.

Northern Vietnam looks amazing, if a bit wet.

Not Terry Gilliam´s best The Brothers Grimm but i remembered my parents renting that film at Blockbuster when i was 10 and that scene when the horse ate the little girl and the Muddy Monster kidnapping another faceless little girl gave me nightmares at night ...
definitely the best two scenes in the movie.
Can you make video ‘My top 10 favorite Stanley Kubrick movies’? I'm wondering which ones are your favorites…
I am planning on doing that! Expect it sometime in 2025.
The only 3 from 2005 that are in my physical media collection (= my faves) are Casanova, Red Eye, and V for Vendetta.
"Batman Begin"
😂
Bloody hell..i havnt seen any of these!
Revenge of the Sith: "Its treason then."
