  • When a metal / hardcore song has a distinct slow part good for moshing - that’s a called breakdown. But what if it’s a thrash burst?
    The unnamed example song - Wristbreaker by Bulavira • Bulavira - Wristbreake...

    A great example is the solo part of In My Darkest Hour, Megadeth. I guess I'd call it a buildup, because it usually plays before a grand release (like the outro in this Megadeth song)

    i feel like an anti-breakdown would be like a clean part goes into a distorted part, i guess kinda like damage inc when it goes from bass into to the song

    We could say that Black Sabbath were the ones to do it first. A lot of their material has a fast-paced moment, generally in the middle of the songs, where they make it sound pretty jazzy. There are many examples, but one of my favorites is “Electric Funeral”‘s mid-section.

    Break, bridge, interlude, all work for ~inbetween~ sections and all have subtle/subjective differentiations. You could also maybe call it a mosh, since that's what is going to happen at a show or a thrash since that's the genre it takes after in those sections.

    Maybe breakdown and « old school » solos are polar opposite

    • @skaldlouiscyphre2453
      @skaldlouiscyphre2453 Год назад

      They're opposites, but not polar opposites. A breakdown is the 'dance section', but most complicated sections of a song are the opposite of the most minimal, stripped down portion. The whole point of that section is to stand in contrast to the rest, unless it's dance music.
      And yes, I'm calling beatdown and other breakdown focused music dance music.

  • @metalmichew2
    @metalmichew2 Год назад

    Yeah i agree with the dude about the buildup, the buildup to the next part which is alot faster, example spirit crusher indeed. But also tornado of souls where there s one guitar shredding a piece and the rest follows.
    So for me the opposite of a breakdown is a change into a different part of the song, which doesnt have to be a complete other sounding part but where you know something s comming up you know
