The Spaghetti Ice cream was 'invented' by an Italian guy who moved to Germany and opened an ice cream parlor. It is usually made with vanilla ice cream though given it a more natural pasta colour, this may have been made using pistachio ice cream. Doesn't usually have 'meatballs' either as spaghetti with meatballs is not a dish that exists in Italy.

4:40 - This is in former west german capital in the city of Bonn, specifically in the "Heerstraße" and "breite Straße". Apperently only a rumor, most people believed these cherrys were given to Germany by Japan after Germany's reunification in 1990, when supposedly they were planted ten years prior in 1980 as part of the city's attempt to redelovop the area.
12:07 - nope. Not anymore 🤣 The glass bursted like last year or the year before, I don't remember, but it was all over the news. 😅The whole Hotel and street was flooded, luckily noone got killed, except for the fish.😐

As a kid growing up I was led to believe that Germans had no sense of humour. This came mainly from my father, who fought against them in WW2. And in a wartime scenario, yeah, probably not. I'm sure the Germans thought the same about the British back then. But some of these photos show that the Germans do have a sense of humour. As for my father, that all changed when my best friend, a German, married my sister.

My Grandfather Robert (1.st Lieutenant in German Navy during the WW2) had this thought about the Brits (and he really hated the RAF because they bombed 1944 the city of Bremen and killed his beloved sister Lina and her husband Johann. Only their sixteen year old son Arthur survived the firestorm) and learned as a POW in England that he was false. Hate or Ignorance is never a good teacher for Life. After the war many of his best friends were ex- british soldiers and formally enemies.

A 'German' joke, (though it's about the German people, not neccesarily originating from them.)
A German couple have a baby: a little boy, and are really happy. Unfortunately over the coming years they realise there is a problem, when their little boy doesn't talk.
They arrange various medical and psychological tests for him, but to no avail, and eventually have to face the possiblity that he'll never actually communicate verbally.
Then one day, when their son is about nine years old, they serve up a meal, that is somewhat overcooked. Their son takes one look at it, and declares: "I'm not eating this!"
Both parents are amazed and overjoyed to hear their son finally speak. But they're puzzled why it has taken him so long to get to this point, so his mother asks: "But son, why have you never said anything before?" to which the boy replies: "Well up until now, everything has been satisfactory".

Still, material fatigue let to the acrylic breaking, flooding the hotel with 1 million liters of water (264172 gallons) and 1500 large and small fishes of all kinds, most of whom did not survive. It was called AquaDom. It will not be rebuilt. Instead, the hotel decided to build a "lving tree" a garden in the form of a giant tree, reaching up to the top of the hotel.

Cherry blossoms in the picture shows the Heerstrasse, Bonn, NRW, Germany.
Do you don'T have green or red pasta in the US? Green colored with spinach, red with beetroot?
And the Ice cream is green because the customer wanted pistachio ice (our ice-cream is what americans call Gelato (or something like that) ).
Traditional Spagetti-Ice Cream is : First sweet whipped cream topped with Vanilla ice pressed through an Spagetti maker topped with strawberry sauce (simulating the Tomato sauce) and white chocolate flakes (simulating the parmesan cheese).
Invented in Mannheim, Germany by an Italian Ice-Cream shop owner who wanted to make a funny ice for kids (that combines the best known foods of Italy - Pasta and Gelato).

Over here in Stuttgart, the ice cream parlor closest to me went all the way: They have spaghetti ice cream, either as 'tomato' (with red berry sauce) or 'carbonara' (with vanilla sauce and ruby chocolate flakes). They also have lasagna ice (pressed sheets of icecream interspersed with whipped cream and red berry sauce), as well as ice pizza (basically a vanilla ice cream bed spread out on the round plate, covered with red berry sauce and several small-sized chunks of ice cream and/or fruit & chocolate).

The Wuppertaler Schwebebahn (English: Wuppertal Suspension Railway) is a suspension railway in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westfalia. The line was originally called the German: Einschienige Hängebahn System Eugen Langen (English: Eugen Langen Monorail Overhead Conveyor System) named for its inventor, Eugen Langen. It is the oldest electric elevated railway with hanging cars in the world and is a unique system in Germany. The Wuppertal Suspension Railway is a major part of the cities traffic infrastructure and the backbone of the east-west axis trough the Wupper Valley. The Schwebebahn runs along a route of 13.3 kilometres (8.3 mi), at a height of about 12 metres (39 ft) above the river Wupper between Oberbarmen (East end) and Sonnborner Straße (10 kilometres or 6.2 miles) and about 8 metres (26 ft) above the valley road between Sonnborner Straße and Vohwinkel (West end; 3.3 kilometres or 2.1 miles). It is more than 120 years old and one of the safest vehicles in the world. It had only three major accidents in all these years. The worst one was in 1999: The line's first and only fatal accident occurred close to Robert-Daum-Platz station during maintenance work in the early morning hours of 12 April 1999. Workers had forgotten to remove a metal claw from the track on completion of scheduled night work. The first eastbound train of the day hit the claw at a speed of around 50 km/h (31 mph), derailed, and fell about 10 metres (33 ft) into the river Wupper, killing five passengers and injuring 47, some seriously.
Usually Spaghetti Ice cream is made from vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce and white chocolate as Parmesan cheese. This one seems to be made from Pistachios or something else.

this fairytale bridge 'Rakotzbruecke' or 'Teufelsbruecke' ('Devil bridge') is in the state of Sachsen/Saxony. It was also used for different movies - for instance 'Matrix Resurrections' (in a Morpheus fighting scene). Apropos: the 'School Castle' of the German show 'Maxton Hall' (which became now a global hit - most successful international movie start in Amazon Prime history - started with being Nr. 1 in 120 countries in the first week) is the Gothic Marienburg Castle near Hannover (state of Niedersachsen/Lower Saxony (apropos: 'Nieder' is a cognate of the Dutch 'Nether' like in 'Netherlands' and also means 'lower lands') .... Maxton Hall is a enemy-to-love/coming-of-age story but in a more classic Fairytale story (means more minimal, focus on the main story and lead chars, no overly complicated side stories, cliches/tropes are not avoided but celebrated - but are not flat/cheesy to to the straight forward narrative and good actors/composition) ... you could react on that! show ;)

10:15 This thing is huge. To compare. The largest aircraft carrier, the "USS Ford", fits in completely. But then you can still place a Tico-class cruiser to the left and right. And next to that you can place a Burke-class destroyer on either side. The Eiffel Tower also fits lying down and the Statue of Liberty (without base) fits in twice, one on top of the other. In some weather conditions, clouds even form inside. Well, this year we're going on a short vacation again in one of the modern houses there. The Tropical Island is located 70 km southeast of Berlin. Then it is up to your "artistic skill" to arrange it AND some experimentation to get the temperature right for pressing the ice cream (before it becomes liquid) ... cooling the hand press a bit might be a necessary precaution.

excerpt: like many US-Americans also Elivis had some roots in Germany => some ancestors of the legend Elvis Presley were winemakers from Hochstadt near Landau in the Palatinate. This was claimed by Donald W. Presley, the singer's cousin, in a recently published book according to the news agency epd. A DNA-test has clearly proven the direct relationship to the Pressler family of winegrowers from Hochstadt an der Weinstraße.His ancestor Valentin Pressler emigrated with his family to America in 1709 as a Protestant religious refugee. The reason was the violent recatholicization of the region by French occupation troops, writes epd. The family history of Elvis could be proven beyond doubt by means of church books, school prescriptions and interest lists, said Gerd Pressler, who as a genealogist has been working together with Donald W. Presley for a long time. According to his statement, the DNA test of an institute in Houston (Texas) showed "significant matches" between direct relatives of the pop legend and the Presslers' descendants. In addition, Elvis possessed a family Bible in which the names of the Pressler family from the wine village Hochstadt are found. His grandmother Minnie Mae had forgotten the Bible when she visited him in Friedberg in 1960 during his military service in Germany.

Great watching you girls trying to pronounce words! Quick guide, the general rule is that all letters are pronounced, the sounds made are as follows: w sounds like v, v sounds loike f, ie sounds like ee, ei sounds like eye, ä e or ae sounds like ay (as in bay), ö or oe sounds like er (as the pert), ü sounds like oo (as in boot), äu sounds like oy (as in toy). How to pronounce Wuppertaler Schweberbahn would be Voopa-tar-ler Sh-vay-ber-barn (I know, it becomes a tongue twister for English speaker but I've managed to master it after 20 years). Word of warning, the Germans have a habit of combining words to make longer words e.g. one hundred and fifty thousand becomes einhundertfunfzigtausend)

Haven't done any German since school (50 years ago,) but the main things I still remember about German pronunciation are:
    1) when you see 'ie' in a word, it's pronounced 'ee', but 'ei' in a word is pronounce 'eye'.
    2) The letter 'u' is normally pronounced as a 'short' u (as in bucket,) but when it has an umlaut accent over it (ü) it lengthens the sound to 'oo', (but as I remember, 'oo' said through semi-pursed lips!)
    3) There's a whole new character called the Eszett (or the 'scharfes S', i.e. 'sharp s'.) This appears as ß and is often misread as a B, but its actually the combination of a 's' and a 'z' and is used where in English, you might find a double 's' as in 'Straße' (pronounced Strasser or Strar-ser').

The womens' only parking have multiple factors making them safer.
    A) very well lit.
    B) close to the entrance/exit of the parking garage, with well lit passages to and from those spots to the entrance/exit,
    C) often under constant surveillance by cameras.
Unfortunately they aren't everywhere but they often are part of larger parking garages. In many cases they are also wider. Officially this is for moms who need to be able to open the rear doors wider when putting kids into their seats in the back row. Unofficially some joker said it's because women suck at parking... Okay, okay (ducks away), sorry... 😂😂
Edit: the outdoors store is probably Globetrotter. They have multiple 'entertainment' stores that offer some pretty wild ideas to test out different equipment. The one here in Hamburg has a revolving elevator for canoes in their show window that goes over five floors (basement to the top floor). They have multiple angled and textured surfaces to try different hiking shoes on. Dito for thermarest sleeping matresses so you can check out if it is thick enough for your liking. For extremely cold weather they have a freezing chamber which is kept at -7°C, roughly 15°F. For more normal temps they have a weather simulation chamber where you can get drizzled on, have a downpour, or even get blasted by winds up to Beaufort wind strength 10 (almost hurricane), or even all of the ones above at once. It really is an experience. For convenience sake it is right opposite the Barmbek public transportation hub station. Just in case you ever visit Hamburg and wanted to see it.
Edit: Geselle is the traditional title of a craftsman that has advanced beyond apprentice level to what was a journeyman, or a Wandergeselle. And Stück is a piece, or in this case a workpiece. Almost every trade or craft had a specific ruling on what had to be included in this apprenticeship test. It required demonstration of extended knowledge and skills, as well as independent application of said traits appropriate to the craft you studied. It was usually a beautiful handcrafted item and a piece of pride for the apprentice. Maybe because this was so deeply ingrained into our mindset over literally centuries that you showed a quiet, non-boasting pride in your skills that trades and crafts weren't stigmatized in Germany. Even today many such jobs are highly regarded as honorable and well worthy of praise on par with many university style jobs.

    Great reaction/video as usual!
Always wonderful to see you excited and curious to learn about my home country!
It's fun to see your outside perspective on some cool things us Germans sometimes might take for granted!
    Some Infos:
03:04 The *Rettungsgasse* (Rescue alley/lane) is a very wonderful positive example of our stereotypical order mentality that often actually saves a lot of important minutes for emergency vehicles that some estimate increase the survival rate about 40%!
The current, efficient version was suggested by most emergency services for years and is now officially mandated by law in Germany since 2016.
04:04 I think that *hotel* is in Berlin iirc, which is one of the least religious & most left-liberal places in Germany so this would be fitting.
05:01 The seemingly round *Rakotzbrücke nicknamed Teufelsbrücke* (devils bridge) is located in the Azaleen- und Rhododendronpark Kromlau (Azaleas & Rhododendron park) at the Rakotzsee (Rakotz sea) (hence the bit on the nose official name of the bridge, I guess) in Kromlau, a district of the village Gablenz in the very east of the State Sachsen (Saxony) near the Polish border (& relatively close to the Czech border).
07:50 The *Wuppertaler Schwebebahn* (hover train/suspension railway) is a very cool form of public transport in the city Wuppertal in the State Nordrhein-Westfalen, short NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) in the West of Germany.
It once transported an elephant (or tried to) in the 1950s, I think as an advertisement for a circus iirc, which made headlines and added to its cult status.
It's a cool, fast, beautiful way to "fly" across the city and over the river Wupper.
Definitely try to check for some videos on that!
08:08 Those special *Elvis Crosswalk Signs* (Ampeln) are located at the Elvis-Presley-Platz (Placa/Square)/Kaiserstraße in Friedberg because that's where Elvis was stationed from 1958-1960, while living nearby in Bad Nauheim.
    Both beautiful cities in Hessen!
09:34 Speaking of Hessen, the *beautiful overgrown house in the Botanischer Garten* (botanical garden) is located in the city Gießen, in the middle of Hessen (State in the central-west of Germany).
That seemingly average, inconspicuous city is known for various other notable things:
    - It was home of Justus von Liebig, one of the most important chemists in history/the world!
He basically layed the foundation for all of organic chemistry and also invented/discovered such things as e.g. Silver Mirrors, some early baby food, baking powder and mineral fertilizers (to boost agriculture) mostly because he wanted to help poor people in times of horrible famines!
    - It has a big bridge across a road in the middle of the city nicknamed "Elefantenklo" (elephant toilet) because of its unique design.
    - It's also home to the watering can museum (or Gießkannenmuseum), which might seem odd but is very fitting, given that the City name is the german word for pouring (e.g. water on plants): "gießen".
09:46 *Women only Parking* Spaces are indeed usually closer to doors/emergency exits in order to prevent women getting trapped by attackers as easily.
10:00 That's the *Cologne Cathedral* which is located right next to the main train station!
Köln is the german word for Cologne and Dom is a german word for a big type of church.
Too much trivia to list here but there are some cool videos on it.
11:09 The unique *manhole cover* is in Wiesbaden, in the southwest of the Bundesland (state) Hessen & is its state capital.
    Fun fact about that city:
You can actually quickly cross the border to neighbouring state Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate), specifically directly into their capital Mainz via a bridge across the Rhine river!
11:18 The *Eschenheimer Turm* (Tower of Eschenheim) is located in Frankfurt am Main, Hessen and is a former City Gate of medieval Frankfurt.
Behind it in that photograph is the Nextower office building.
11:36 (& 04:08) The *cherry blossom* pictures seem to both be from Bonn,
which is the former Capital City of West Germany (1973-1990) and also our former seat of government (1949-1999).
17:44 Most *Graves in Germany* have a small field of flowers on top of it, in front of the head stone which usually relatives or friends keep fresh and nice e.g. by replacing and watering flowers.
Additionally I guess it's a stereotypical german thing to bring our own equipment (e.g. watering can) and lock it so it doesn't get stolen... I dunno.
18:20 *Spaghetti Eis* usually isn't green but more of a light yellow-ish colour since it's made from vanilla ice cream that is pressed through a noodel press/machine.
(Dunno why it's green in this picture...)
It usually comes with a strawberry sauce to resemble the typical tomato/bolognese sauce we like on our Spaghetti plus some white chocolate as fake Parmesan cheese.
    Hope that helped/was interesting enough!
    Sry for the long text!
Thanks again for the very enjoyable video! Looking forward to seeing you discover more about Germany and other countries!
    Lots of love! Happy Pride!
    Take care! Til next time!

Traditional German graves (before cremation became a thing) are like tiny gardens, 2 square meters of soil surrounded by stones and a larger grave stone at one end, not just a stone like we see in most US cemeteries. When I was a child, I would go to the graveyard with my great aunt once a week and we would clean the stones, plant flowers, water the flowers, draw motives into the soil with a rake, etc. Everybody did this back in the day; nowadays, not so much anymore. Some sections of the cemeteries now are for cremated people only, and those graves usually only have a stone. For those who still have traditional graves, many people opt to simply cover it with a slab of stone, or do Zen gardens that don't need watering, the custom is disappearing. I enjoyed it, it was like meditation.

The Cherry Blossom picture is taken in the Federal City of Bonn, the former capital.
Kromlau Bridge is one of multiple so-called "devil's bridges" in Germany. It is part of the Kromlau Azalea and Rhododendron Landscape Park built during the 19th century and also called "Rakotz bridge" (after the artificial Rakotz lake, "rak" being Sorbic for "crayfish"). It is located near the Polish border in the district Bad Muskau, where you can also find the even more famous Muskau Park designed by Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871).
6:23 Neustadt (lit. new town) is a district of Dresden (the Inner Neustadt within the old city walls was rebuilt after a fire as "New Royal City" before 1732, the Outer Neustadt was started around 1745, most buildings are from the second half of the 19th century). "Kunsthofpassage" means Art court passage, it consists of five courtyards in the Outer Neustadt and his its own article in the German wikipedia.
8:00 Nice video about the Wuppertal suspension railway: ruclips.net/video/9IFh6wFTJiQ/видео.html
10:19 it is not an "old blimp hangar", it was built in 2000/2001 for the Cargolifter project which then failed and went bankrupt in 2003. It is 360m long, 210m wide and 107m high, the biggest self-supporting construction in the world.
11:18 The Eschenheimer Turm is one of the old city gates of Frankfurt/Main. The tower in the background is the Nextower, a 136m high, built 2009/2011.
12:13 Yes, it broke. It burst in the early morning of 16 December 2022 and flooded the foyer of the hotel and the street before it; most of the fish died (40 of 1,500 were rescued). And the elevator was inside of the aquarium, not the other way round.
14:50 The translation of "Gesellenstück" would be "bachelor's piece". German crafts used the bachelor/master system long before German universities did. (In England they say "journeyman" instead of bachelor, based on the tradition to go on a journey after you got your bachelor's degree to learn about the customs and methods used in other regions.)

More than 20,000 Japanese took part and EUR 1 million in donations were raised. By 2010, more than 10,000 Japanese cherry blossom (sakura) trees had been planted. Most of them are in Berlin and Brandenburg in places that played a special role during the division of Germany, e.g. on the former "wall strip", i.e. where the Berlin Wall once stood. The first sakura trees were planted at the famous Glienicke Bridge. The initiator of the campaign, Tetsuo Terasaki, was invited to the New Year's reception in 2004 by then Federal President Horst Köhler. The picture was (I think) taken here: 10407 Berlin, Käthe-Niederkirchner-Straße.

I've never seen the Tampon book (as a German), but the store I buy at does sell certain period products for 1ct (they say, it's free, which it almost is. Guess, they have to put a price on it). You can only get 1 pice per shopping, but it's pretty neat.
Also: taxes for period products in Germany have been reduced from 19% to 7% in 2020. Shame though, that quiet a few products weren't reduced in price, but kept the old one, thus making more money. (especially big companies did that) Some companies did reduce their prices, so those who could, would try to go for these brands. Guess, the free product per shopping at my store has to do with this in some way. (like, work places start to offer free period products at work for people etc. nowadays. Not all, but some of the bigger ones do that)
It's getting better here. Slowly, but it does.

4:35 min A Japanese celebration In April? 🤔"Japan Day" this year was on the first of June In Düsseldorf (about 410 Japanese companies are there, that is why Düsseldorf has about 8300 Japanese who live there). "Japanisches Kirschblütenfest" (Japanese cherry blossom celebration) is on June 23 in Hamburg. Hamburg has about 100 Japanese companies and about 1700 Japanese people.

Still we got some a holes that are not able to build the "Rettungsgasse" It'll cost you points in Flensburg and money too if you get caught. One thing we are better in terms of driving. We hardly have any break checker in Germany! And that was so even before dash cams.😁 We usually don't have these traffic light. Even if they want to. Sometimes they use a 2nd light. We love rules(I've heard)
You wont believe how difficult that is to do. BTW When you got problems pronouncing German :Use google translator. There is a loudspeaker symbol, you push it ,you hear it. It's very simple.
You can even learn how PORSCHE sounds. If you wanna show of😉.Americans very often just skip the E. That kinda sucks. I know name mistakes aren't real mistakes. Still that annoys me.
Some Brits do it too, but if so I just sign off dislike and explain it. Why this ist one of the most famous brands on this world. Don't they earn to be named right? Lol it's Köln not Koln. Try it 😉
I rather have you say Cologne instead of Koln. That's my home City wich is ~20 miles from Bonn. Just up the Rhine😉 I believe it is true, but it was years back. Wasn't that Fish tank in a Hotel?
Googles Translator has the Gesellenstück. Hmm looks like Pistachio ice cream, but I'm not sure. What, Clowns are evil? If they don't carry a running chainsaw running after me,I like 'em.
    It was fun watching you,THX

Germany, even the little towns is well worth a holiday trip. Learn just a few words of German, and you will get on just fine. Most younger people speak English, but you always have Google translate. Just remember W = V, Köln is Cologne. REMEMBER Oktoberfest is in September in case you planned to go then... if finishes in October.

6:12 this place is in Dresden. Neustadt (New town) is a district. I would translate it's name to New Town art back-courtyard passage.
Pronounciation would be like Noy shtud Coonst hoaf passage (Passage is pronounced like massage but you'll voice the e at the end sounding like the "ge" in general)
And trust me, it's overrated. It just sounds like rain running in pipes (or frying your Schnitzel 😅).
To be fair it's meant to play the music of water and rain and it actually does amplify those sounds.
10:10 that hangar is according to German wikipedia the largest cantilever (unsupported, free-standing) building in the world with L x W x H = 1180 ft x 690 ft x 350 ft. It's a "family water park". So it got some slides and stuff, but also a lagoon with a beach for sun bathing, beach volleyball, beach soccer, cocktail bars, a small rainforest, a tropical themed village, etc.
