We recently sat down w/ Memphis native Scan Man for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he discussed growing up in South Memphis, balancing basketball and his rap career in the beginning, getting introduced to Dj Paul through Koopsta Knicca, The Kaze era, “Running Lips” being a classic song, studio sessions w/ 10 members of the Three Six Mafia, recording 50-60 songs for each album, dropping “KamiKaze Times Up” album, working with Gangsta Boo, starting his own label, launching his distro company ,Nephilum , upcoming Memphis Mafia compilation, working on a documentary, memory of Koopsta Knicca, Memphis music scene, advice to the youth on learning the music business, & more!

Long time Three 6 and Prophet Entertainment fan. I’m ashamed I didn’t know Scanman was an avid basketball player and had a relationship with Kobe Bryant. Loved this interview man! It’s great hearing from the OGs that helped make Three 6 Mafia who they are today.

One of my childhood friends played on the Lower Merion team with Kobe. He actually called my brother's house phone looking for our childhood friend. Since I don't know much about any sport, I didn't know who "kob" was. I just took the message and went about my day. I didn't know that was a professional athlete until our homeboy told me who I was talking to 😂.
