Great video! In my opinion, like you said, NJ is underrated. It has a great variety of towns and cities. It's true that it has bad and ugly places, but it also have a lot of good and beautiful places. Most people out of the state focus in the negative and don't know too much of NJ. But NJ has a lot of positive things. I live in Union City in Hudson County, and am very familiar with basically all of the eastern part of the county, and pretty much familiar with other places around as well. I can tell you that there are positives and underrated things here, such as: Union City is really clean and the city have staff sweeping all the streets to keep it clean, and there is a commercial street called Bergenline Avenue that is about 4 miles long with stores and restaurants. Also, this state have a lot of train and buses combinations, imcluding light rail systems (but also, there are other places that needs to improve the transit system), beautiful plazas and parks, beautiful sceneries, such as JFK Boulevard East (great views of NYC), a lot of schools, and more.
Union City is a really interesting enclave. The challenge is, it's really hard to get to. I once tried driving there 6 years ago and it was a miserable time getting to the area, getting through the streets, and parking. Safe to say, biking there from the GW Bridge is WAY easier. It's similar to NYC in that walking is the best way around there (which I know is your thing), and in some other parts of the county too. I constantly hear about how crowded Hudson County is or people talking about "The Sopranos" when referring to it.
I grew up in New Jersey (til 18), and never heard of any of this. Realization: If you're one of the millions of people who fly into New York, and one of the millions of those people who land at Newark Airport, you'll be traveling through the most disgusting hell hole in the country to get to Manhattan. The people who live in the other 99% of New Jersey don't want any part of traveling through the 10 minute fart either.
Haha yeah I forgot to even include the airport, but it's the exact same point as the turnpike. And the fact that every traffic report is simply: minutes it takes to get OUT of NJ, as in, the bridge or tunnels to NYC.
i’ve lived in hamilton, NJ my whole life. based on the map, you’ve been here. i’ve been in all different parts of the state, even the shitty parts near newark airport. but for the most part, the hate is very undeserved
Yeah I definitely should have included my Houston footage. Outside the Newark Bay area, the eastern side of the Houston metro has the most monstrous industrial zone I've ever seen. Not to mention the sprawl!

Great video! I’m from Camden and must must say you are spot on with your analogy.
I'm happy I survived its wrath and moved far, far away. The shores and Six Flags are really the only redeeming qualities of the state.

Well done! Realy well done! (Midland Park > Fairlawn > Old Bridge)

New Jersey is far more interesting than the Atlanta or Houston areas!!!

Amen brother
The industrial area is mostly in the north around Trenton and Newark not much down here in the south except for Camden
The turnpike is amazing
I have lived in many parts of Jersey, HORRIBLE place
Expensive to live there.
The coast is nice
It’s not deserved
