Nice work, nice to see Buffalo get some love on RUclips. Just a few thoughts as they pop to mind... Canalside has have the same problem as Larkin Square. They are marketed towards visitators not residence. There is a market in East Buffalo known as the Broadway market, which still attracts a lot of (suburban) business around Easter time. It's a good focal point for building out a commercial district in that area.
Interesting video on how an outsider sees the city! Just a note, the reason why LaSalle park was in a state of disrepair when you saw it is because maintenance had stopped in advance of the $110m upgrades being constructed now! It will be renamed Ralph Wilson Park and should be opened in the next few years.
Actually the Southtowns, or southern Erie County, is quite hilly and scenic. There's a scenic byway that's very impressive. Great video!!! I'll take Buffalo over Dallas any day.
Absolutely right about Atlanta. You can add Dallas in there as well. Both are landlocked with no significant waterfronts. All the "lakes" in the area are man-made/artificial.
At least Dallas is on the Trinity River, and many of the neighborhoods are influenced by its floodplain and its tributaries. Atlanta is just plopped on the map and they just built up.
Former Buffalo resident. I've lived all over the country, and moved to Florida 3 years ago. One issue I've always had was the preservation folks, who will demand a falling down structure be preserved. Nothing gets built, because they're trying to keep a damaged, dilapidated building "saved". The city always had such potential, and seems to always be victim of activists trying to "save" things.
As an architecture student passionate about city-planning and making cities more liveable, great video buddy! Keep up the good work!

One thing that could be done is cap the trench freeways to restore the Olmstead parks design. I really like the idea of a second rail line east.

Buffalo's crime rate prevents me from visiting. the high New York cost of living prevents me from living there.
The Mayor's position is opening up. Here's your chance!
Actually there's more than a few videos who say good things about Buffalo.
Yes but they all tout Larking Square and Canalside endlessly.
