    I salute these experts. Their eyes are the key to what their brains will interpret. It is all about looking at the cells and many things the slides will reveal.

    Is histopathology same as forensic pathology? Does training in histopathology involve postmortem?

    • @ilovepathology
      @ilovepathology  5 лет назад +8

      Hi Diksha, histopathology and forensic pathology are two separate pathology specialties that require separate training. When training for histopathology, you have the choice to train in how to do postmortems. However, these postmortems will not be for homicide or suspicious deaths - those are for forensic pathologists exclusively. You can find out more about their differences by looking at these two web pages:
      Forensic pathology: www.rcpath.org/discover-pathology/careers-in-pathology/careers-in-medicine/become-a-forensic-pathologist.html
      Histopathology: www.rcpath.org/discover-pathology/careers-in-pathology/careers-in-medicine/become-a-histopathologist.html

      Histopathology is the study of cells. histology is the study of cells as they are in place within tissues stuctures. This includes biopsies, removed organs and also exercised tumours, lesions, cysts, skin tags ect. The other branch of histopathology is cytology- the study of cells out of their tissue structures which includes, cervical smears, cells from urine, sputum and fine-needle aspirates ect.
      These disciplines include immunohisto and immunocytochemistry.

    Can a nurse become a histopathologist?

      Hi there. Here's some information about careers and training in histopathology: www.rcpath.org/discover-pathology/careers-in-pathology/careers-in-medicine/become-a-histopathologist.html. To become a consultant histopathologist in the UK you need to study medicine before you do specialty training in histopathology. You can become part of a histopathology laboratory team if you train as a biomedical scientist.
