Whatever they say, this is the longest home run in MLB history, the wind is not an excuse, in an American football stadium, almost above the entire second floor, without steroids, pure power. The

I remember getting to see this on tv when it happened. Talk about a group of guys running around and screaming their heads off. I still agree with the original length posted on the scoreboard. El Gato Grande got screwed on the distance because no one wantes Mantle's record broken. Don't get me wrong! Mick was, is, and always will be a legend. However, I think his legendary status screwed another legend in AG.

Man I wish this wasn't hit in an enclosed stadium - I would have loved to have seen how far it would have gone if there was nothing there to break its' flight. At Wrigley this probably would have made the roof of the buildings across the street - at Fenway it would have landed on the highway most likely.

    • @brandonriggs1788

I remember later in this game they threw at his head and he charged the mound. They felt he disrespected them by hitting the longest HR in baseball off Kevin Brown on their turf. He didn’t do anything rude or showing off. Watch these kids today like Tatis Jr. or Carlos Carerra - literally standing in the batter’s box with bat in hand watching it land before they some bat flip and then taunt the other team or make some dumb hand gesture. Players back then had a code and they played with class (I sure wouldn’t want the Big Cat running at me fist clinched!), today it’s show off as much as you can.

When my eyes saw this for the first time that day I thought no way have I ever witnessed a more sensational sight than when that man bear hit that ball so perfectly. It was a forever memory instantly. I say 530 plus. Just edging me out of my furthest.
