Wow kind words , thanks 👍👍
That thing has so much power..pulls the bird dog around with mighty authority,
Yes, it pulls good 👍
Excellent Job !!!

Man bro your Bird Dog looks awesome! You've got that Saito purring like a kitten too. Great flying, love the touch n' gos!
Thanks buddy, the engine still new and running rich, but love the plane, a bit of a break from all the cubs etc.. 👍👍
I just do not know what to say… other than, Perfect! I also want one😅

Awesome flying brother.. can't wait for the 122in to be released in Australia.
Thanks buddy 👍👍😁
The black rocker covers are interesting. Never seen that on a Saito and the plane looks magic
Its called black paint 😁👍
It sounds and looks amazing
Thanks 😁👍
Nice flying too!
Thanks 😁👍
Nice flying witha beautiful comby but i wonder, why flying almost constant with the flaps out??
Thanks, using the flaps as I was flying low and slow 😁👍
Beautyful!
Thanks 👍👍
I came across your video late, but are you using the lights from Seagull or another vendor. Nice job, btw.
Thanks buddy, I used the provided lights on this one, on 3s lipo 👍
Kudo's for the bold move of ignoring the recommended setup. The 41 4 stroke is perfect here. This is equivalent to about a 30cc in power. The recommended 60 to 85cc would just make this model look bad.
There is two versions of this plane, this is 30cc version.
How did you locate the four valve cover holes on the cowl so perfectly? I got the same engine because of your video, and need to know for doing the same good job.
That's cool, you won't be disappointed with your choice, great little engine. It's just a lot of measuring before you make any cuts, and trial fitting... No magic trick to it, just take your time. Happy flying 👍👍
One more question…did you make any exhaust/outlet hole on the bottom of the cowl? I am wondering if the gap between cowl and fuse is good enough. I know I need at least two holes for the exhaust pipes but they could be minimal.
@@maukaonyx you need a good size hole in the bottom to get proper airflow to the engine, rule of thumb is inlet 1:3 to outlet area. I also used engine baffling to keep it operating nice and cool.
Ok thanks for the quick response! I know you don’t even own the Bird Dog anymore . Hey I have watched this vid so many times….it is my inspiration!
@@maukaonyx no worries, my pleasure 😁👍
That brought back some memories. Trained on 'em at Fort Rucker and 450 hours flying Forward Air Control in 'Nam. Would have been neat to see some scaled down 2.75" Willie Pete's fired.
That's cool 👍
Nice bire and very affordable
Thanks 👍
@@WarbirdPiLOT Gator rc has Seagull and Top Rc planes at good prices. I think I like the Top Rc ones because they're not covered in the film but they are painted onto fiberglass with the decals on. Wish they wouldn't paint the decals on but they're easy to weather and clear coat again.
@@IceMan2035 Yes the fiberglass planes are nice for sure.
Please make another video without so much flaps, because i like to buy the model very soon in the same combination. And do ot forget i like your video very much. !!!!!!!
Thanks again, I have sold the model but can honestly say it flies very good, you will like it I'm sure, with or without flaps 😁👍
Did you use the suplied decals or after market? Also what scale is it?
Supplied decals with a coat of Matt clear to get rid of the shine. I think it's 1:5 scale, not sure
This video made me by this plane. Awesome! (But I will go electric! 🙂)
Thanks , glad you liked it 👍👍
where did you get that plane? I don't see it at there website. only 122 inch.
warbird, I know it's been a few months now. How far out did you mount engine? Manual says 175mm, I know now that's too far out.
I guess I didn't get the memo on that. I have to rework my engine mount area. I see your engine cowl is almost up against the windshield.. mine doesn't even cover the hatch notch.
I stacked some plywood squares on the firewall and used the Saito standoffs. 👍
Hi ,
I'm pretty sure I used the distance states in the manual, and the distance you mentioned sounded familiar but I no longer have the plane so can't double check unfortunately..
Thanks, Well I looked it over again. If I slide the cowl farther in, it doesn't look that bad. Prop hub sticks out about 10 mm, I can live with that. But I would have had less cowl trimming for Saito valve covers if the engine was back 5 or 10 mm's Thanks for the reply..@@WarbirdPiLOT
Ordered with Saito FG-41. What prop you using?
I'm using 19x8 prop, but could probably go 20x8
@@WarbirdPiLOT ok, I have both. Thanks!
Do you think. 170KV or 210KV electric motor would be good in the L-19?… I want to go electric in it
Sorry have no idea, not that good with electronics. Check out the manual for electric setup.
@@WarbirdPiLOT ok, How did the CG work out, like in the manual?… Did you say you had to trim 20% down elevator?.. I ordered plane ….Thanks for any info
