This song really makes me cry. I'am an asian, and I was pressured by my family. Doctor, or lawyer. Nothing else. They prohibited me from drawing, writing novels, or doing anything I like. Ive been feeling like wanting comitting suicide so bad lately. More so when Covid-19 rampaging, I had to extend my semester but I dont have the mental health to do so. I chose to be a lawyer, but I want to die so bad I think I just did the biggest mistake ever. I enjoy studying, I truly do. I just hope I can persue my dream instead of getting pressured like this...

HighSchoolZ AK I am so sorry. My mom always wanted me to be something artistic, she bought me musical instruments and drawing books, but even tho i enjoyed it I enrolled into med school cause I wanted to help people around me and I want a bigger social position . I would have chosen to be a lawyer but I liked science more. Please be positive and try to have a hobby outside of your study, it can be anything. Learn a new language, practice sport, and read novels where the main character is a lawyer or a judge for example. Seek the motivation to make you more ambitious and think about all the good things and the causes you will defend by being a lawyer, and even a future judge. If you hate that discipline that much, and you don’t feel compatible with it, then it will never be too late to start something new when you will be an Indépendant adult.

The best piece of advice I can give (I was in your position 30 years ago) is to find your true passion. If there's a profession that will harness it, go after it. However, ALWAYS have a backup. A way to make a decent living if your passion can't pay the bills right away Over the 30 years I've worked full time, and it's a convoluted road to get here, I've had to adapt, evolve, and change professions a few times. Some in their 40s might still not know what they want to do in their lives. Only you will know

For me it is highschool. I live in a small town and I plan to study in a city. I know it's different, because I get to go home for the weekend, but I might lose contact with my friends. One is probably going to the awful school in our town, because her parents are very protective of her. The other wants to go to the city, but to a different school, but might not get in anyway. I can't help but worry, that because we won't be seeing each other as often, we'll grow distant.
@Sabrina Jeffries I had that problem too. I was bullied by my class in primary school and was worried, that it was going to continue. All my friends were going to a different school. But when I went to my new school I was overjoyed really. My class seemed liked paradise. I found two wonderful friends way, who've come to know me way better then the ones from primary (I didn't keep in touch with them for long, the school they went to changed them). My advise is, don't worry. You can't know what will happen and coming up with the worst scenarios can only wreck your summer (like it did for me).

Honestly, when I first heard this song a few years ago, I liked it. I've always really loved Anna's music, but I relate to so many of them more than I had when I was younger. Like this one for example. I'm graduating from high school this year and I'm absolutely terrified for what the future holds in store. I'm such a socially awkward person and I struggle with talking to most people. I don't even know what I want from life, other than a childhood dream of being an author. (I'm Italian and I'm writing with the translator, so there might be some errors) I am a 13 year old girl who lives in southern Italy in a small town. I've spent my whole life here, but I never liked it because it just brings bad memories (bullying, false friends, loneliness, problems at school, etc.). On September 1st (in 4 days now that I write the comment) I will move house and after a few days I will start high school. Okay, but I first watched this when I started high school. I had just left middle school and was now coming to terms that high school actually really mattered. And on top of that, there was suddenly a new education system put in place, so everyone in my year level had to adjust to that quickly. I’m now in my final year and I’m scared as hell. This music video really set off a lot of emotions for me, and I’m worried about so many things, like if my grades are good enough for university or if I’ll ever see any of my friends again, or if I’ll even get a graduation ceremony or formal due to corona. This year just isn’t a great year, to be honest.

@@littleshark219 I graduated not too long ago now. I can tell you now that it was a bit bumpy for a few weeks, as in we weren't talking much. But then we started texting one another like we used to, and now it feels just like it did before we graduated. Just don't give up if you guys don't talk for a bit. People get busy, but it's all worth it when you start talking again. People WILL get busy, and I learnt that quickly. That doesn't mean they don't want to talk. Whether it be because they have uni classes, or job shifts, or they're exhausted. Just don't get too worried if you don't chat as frequently. At the end of the day, you'll need each other, especially when you leave school. As for the money part and your family, you have no idea how much I get that. You just need to keep trying for jobs, and get a good paying one, too. Easier said than done, but small jobs can lead to bigger opportunities. I've only been graduated for about a month, so I can't say too much. All I can say: It will be okay.

I'm slowly fixing my attitude regarding mistakes; it's not the end of the world when you fail... it only means you need to try harder.
@@sunnydays6617 wait what country are you in? I think universities work a bit differently in where I'm from. (from Philippines) I don't know the reasons behind you failing a subject, so I'm going to share an experience I had when I actually failed one. I'm pretty much the close-and-personal type of person when I'm in a rough corner; I regularly visit the professor of the failing class and ask him precisely what to do on how to fix it. I sometimes even ask the college dean and registrar about it, and any other related administrative jobs. Long story short, don't be shy to ask for directions(especially being a dense introverted person like me) even the seemingly 'basic' ones. In my university, when you fail, you cannot redeem it easily if it's a major subject(and I was failing Eng'g Drawing back then) whereas minor/elective subjects tend to have easy-to-convince professors to settle down with a 'special project' or something. Heck, I even go as far as to bribe my classmates to fake my attendances in class. Pretty much, if you're determined enough, you can try to convince your most closed-minded professor to change their mind about your grades. I'm mostly a yes-man when it comes to achieving a goal so yeah... even the most ridiculous of projects have no effect on my pride. As long as I'm not doing openly dirty deeds(if I have to, I stay as discreet as possible). And even if you do fail the subject, still take summer class. It's not the end of the world if you fail one subject. (To be honest I already failed 2-3 subjects, and took summer classes for them, that's how Asians do I guess) And I still graduated and had a decent score in the licensure exam (I'm a licensed Electrical Engineer in 2018). Right now, I'm taking a second course in BS Computer Science because it was my first choice until my previous university stopped providing that course. TL DR: Get close and personal with faculty members(professors, registrars, deans,principals, etc.) specifically related to the failing class you have. Ask even the most 'basic' questions, even if it makes you look dumb. Be open to any option(except if it involves downright illegal methods) to solve a problem; get a 'special project' or a 'special schedule' to make up with the failing grade. Or even recruit accomplices(close colleagues, professors) to help you out into cleaning up your mess. If you fail, it's alright. Mistakes are but small rocks that cover up a large diamond below. You'll be making plenty in your lifetime, and everyone suffers more or less. You just have to stand up again and again and again. :)

As someone who graduated highschool and had the best 3 years of his life, if you still in highschool please enjoy it and make the most of it. Those people around you may seem bad or whatever but when you'll grow up you'll be looking back at those days and smile. I'd be lying if I said I don't miss my highschool mates. The fact that we all are grown up now and we got new lives is really something to think about.
Wow I just at a loss for words with this one. I just started college literally across the country where I don't have any of my friends or people with similar music tastes or any similar tastes in general. I stopped studying when I got the notification this was out. I was crying through all of it. Anna you seriously out did yourself with this one. This is so many of us right now and this showed me that maybe I don't have to be as miserable as I have been. I just hung up all my merch from you in my dorm even though we aren't allowed lol I needed it to give me some strength. The first time I listened to this song I didn't really get it as I was young but I loved Anna's music and really related to some of her other songs but I'm 18 now and my life has been completely derailed all my plans for the future just disappeared and I've been stuck wondering what to do now and I really under this song now I'm also really glad that I'm not the only one feeling like this as I've scrolled through these comments I've seen others say similar things even if there from a few years ago it just really helped to know I'm not alone when I saw them I started crying because I felt like people out there understood me I'm so grateful to Anna for creating this community I feel like it's one of the best out there and thank you to all those who read all the way through this rant and to anyone out there feeling like me please know your not alone not anymore

I can understand this more than anything. This week is the last week of school before my final exams and I know I want to go to school to further my studies but I feel rather bittersweet about everything, I'll miss my friends I made in school. My Prom would be held next month after our final examinations. All of my friends knew what they wanted, and were so happy to graduate, so I felt so alone... I really thought it would be better to give up on everything. I've been listening to this song all through my Kurstufe and my Abi and it really carried me through. I cry a little every time because I experienced all the things shown and everytime I watched it the experience changed because suddenly a part of it all was behind me and I'd actually done it. Now I'm going to Uni and have gone through all those steps and I thought I'd revisit it and now I'm sitting here bawling because it this song captures all these feelings so perfectly...
This song made me think about my future when I was 16 and everything I needed to do. How to live my life? What am I supposed to do? Who do I have to be as an adult? Do I have to change and leave everything?... All those thoughts are now just things that no longer bother me. Now I am happy and I know what I want and who I want to be. So listening to this song brings back a lot of memories that maybe aren't so nice but that now make me see how far I've come and how happy I feel now for who I am and what I can be.
When this song came out I was graduating middle school, which in our curriculum very much determines the whole future and you move to other places/countries for highschool/college, some join college for diplomas and get jobs (16+) so it’s somewhat like highschool graduation in other countries, you spend only 2 more years in highschool if you do join highschool ( it’s not compulsory here to join HS cause there’s other education options and you can also take a break year for work experience before resuming school so it’s easier to get in the field when you do get your certificates, most do join HS though cause easier pathway esp in science fields and more international recognition) so I remember listening to this and crying cause it was a huge life changing moment and all the stuff here hit me, how everyone was going their ways plus I didn’t know what to do with my life, and i came back to ironically listen to this at my highschool graduation cause it was the first real step for me in adulthood as a new adult and it was just as scary to go different ways as my 16 year old self except this felt more real, and even though I knew an idea of what I want to be in the future and what I was going to major in, I still felt just as clueless on what to do with my life, it’s like I’m following I’m doing what I feel like I should be doing as something I would like to do as a career or build a future around but I still feel like im in the middle of losing everything not knowing where all of this is going to end up where I will be going so here I am in college most of my friends more successful than me or have graduated some starting families and beginning their careers and it’s so overwhelming how I still feel clueless on what I will be even though I am working on studying for something that I feel like suits me I still feel like a child in an adults body and it feels shocking when i see people my age are mature adults and we are not some school kids anymore and this song still hits me the same studying in college I don’t really feel like I was anything different than when I was in highschool but when I look at the people besides me I’m like wow I’m an adult in my 20s and people my age are having adult lives it sounds silly to say it like that, I guess I never really felt like I stepped away from my teen years and now coming one more step closer to mid 20s it feels like I’m still catching up even though I know many people would say 22 is still very young for all that and not everyone has everything figured out it’s still an intimidating age cause one day we were all doing the same things and now we are all doing different things and that change is hard for me to grasp around, recently I’ve seen a few people my age who were in my class give birth to babies and that freaked me out even though most people my age doesn’t really start families that early it hit me I’m at an age where it’s actually legal to be getting married and have kids and we have different ways we decide to run our lives but it’s still bizarre how we were doing the same thing until we really started taking reigns of our lives, or at least I’m still trying to figure how to take reigns in my life I’m a strong believer of everyone has their own pace and time but it’s overwhelming to see so many changes in all that worked for so long in a similar pace, maybe I just haven’t quite grown up but I’m still at the step where I’m only looking at my future as something far away rather than the point where it has begun as my childhood self would have envisioned so I’m still dreaming like my child self who dreamt I would be something so different at this age would have done so much more but I’m still the same still entering college like I’m going to school and looking ahead like I will be more grown except rather than 10 Years my hopes have changed to couple years and that’s a lot more pressuring cause I’m at a time where I should start and even though I’m on a path it’s terrifying and I find myself not knowing what I’m doing or where I’m going in a sense it doesn’t feel like much has changed in the past 6years for me or that time has even passed that long maybe Covid contributed too since my 18th pre Covid to 21st birthday right after Covid I have this huge blank so I don’t know how I ended up being 22 and I don’t know how people around me managed to move on and do so much in a time where I felt so frozen in time ( uh this turned into a long rant that no one would prolly read but yea this song really has me up in my feels)

I first listened to this back in middle school and now I am in my last year of high school, last semester, graduating. When I first listened to this song I liked it, but it didn’t make much sense, now everything about it makes so much more sense and the music video alone says so much, I must admit I cried.

Ive been feeling like wanting comitting suicide so bad lately. More so when Covid-19 rampaging, I had to extend my semester but I dont have the mental health to do so. I chose to be a lawyer, but I want to die so bad I think I just did the biggest mistake ever.

My mom always wanted me to be something artistic, she bought me musical instruments and drawing books, but even tho i enjoyed it I enrolled into med school cause I wanted to help people around me and I want a bigger social position . I would have chosen to be a lawyer but I liked science more. Please be positive and try to have a hobby outside of your study, it can be anything. Learn a new language, practice sport, and read novels where the main character is a lawyer or a judge for example. Seek the motivation to make you more ambitious and think about all the good things and the causes you will defend by being a lawyer, and even a future judge. If you hate that discipline that much, and you don’t feel compatible with it, then it will never be too late to start something new when you will be an Indépendant adult.

For me it is highschool. I live in a small town and I plan to study in a city. I know it's different, because I get to go home for the weekend, but I might lose contact with my friends. One is probably going to the awful school in our town, because her parents are very protective of her. The other wants to go to the city, but to a different school, but might not get in anyway. I can't help but worry, that because we won't be seeing each other as often, we'll grow distant.
@Sabrina Jeffries I had that problem too. I was bullied by my class in primary school and was worried, that it was going to continue. All my friends were going to a different school. But when I went to my new school I was overjoyed really. My class seemed liked paradise. I found two wonderful friends way, who've come to know me way better then the ones from primary (I didn't keep in touch with them for long, the school they went to changed them).
My advise is, don't worry. You can't know what will happen and coming up with the worst scenarios can only wreck your summer (like it did for me).

Honestly, when I first heard this song a few years ago, I liked it. I've always really loved Anna's music, but I relate to so many of them more than I had when I was younger. Okay, but I first watched this when I started high school. I had just left middle school and was now coming to terms that high school actually really mattered. And on top of that, there was suddenly a new education system put in place, so everyone in my year level had to adjust to that quickly.
I’m now in my final year and I’m scared as hell. This music video really set off a lot of emotions for me, and I’m worried about so many things, like if my grades are good enough for university or if I’ll ever see any of my friends again, or if I’ll even get a graduation ceremony or formal due to corona. This year just isn’t a great year, to be honest.

@@littleshark219 I graduated not too long ago now. I can tell you now that it was a bit bumpy for a few weeks, as in we weren't talking much. But then we started texting one another like we used to, and now it feels just like it did before we graduated.
Just don't give up if you guys don't talk for a bit. People get busy, but it's all worth it when you start talking again. People WILL get busy, and I learnt that quickly. That doesn't mean they don't want to talk. Whether it be because they have uni classes, or job shifts, or they're exhausted. Just don't get too worried if you don't chat as frequently. At the end of the day, you'll need each other, especially when you leave school.
As for the money part and your family, you have no idea how much I get that. You just need to keep trying for jobs, and get a good paying one, too. Easier said than done, but small jobs can lead to bigger opportunities.
I've only been graduated for about a month, so I can't say too much.
All I can say: It will be okay.

@@sunnydays6617 wait what country are you in? I think universities work a bit differently in where I'm from. (from Philippines) I don't know the reasons behind you failing a subject, so I'm going to share an experience I had when I actually failed one.
I'm pretty much the close-and-personal type of person when I'm in a rough corner; I regularly visit the professor of the failing class and ask him precisely what to do on how to fix it. I sometimes even ask the college dean and registrar about it, and any other related administrative jobs.
Long story short, don't be shy to ask for directions(especially being a dense introverted person like me) even the seemingly 'basic' ones. In my university, when you fail, you cannot redeem it easily if it's a major subject(and I was failing Eng'g Drawing back then) whereas minor/elective subjects tend to have easy-to-convince professors to settle down with a 'special project' or something. Heck, I even go as far as to bribe my classmates to fake my attendances in class.
Pretty much, if you're determined enough, you can try to convince your most closed-minded professor to change their mind about your grades. I'm mostly a yes-man when it comes to achieving a goal so yeah... even the most ridiculous of projects have no effect on my pride. As long as I'm not doing openly dirty deeds(if I have to, I stay as discreet as possible).
And even if you do fail the subject, still take summer class. It's not the end of the world if you fail one subject. (To be honest I already failed 2-3 subjects, and took summer classes for them, that's how Asians do I guess) And I still graduated and had a decent score in the licensure exam (I'm a licensed Electrical Engineer in 2018).
Right now, I'm taking a second course in BS Computer Science because it was my first choice until my previous university stopped providing that course.
TL DR:
Get close and personal with faculty members(professors, registrars, deans,principals, etc.) specifically related to the failing class you have. Ask even the most 'basic' questions, even if it makes you look dumb.
Be open to any option(except if it involves downright illegal methods) to solve a problem; get a 'special project' or a 'special schedule' to make up with the failing grade. Or even recruit accomplices(close colleagues, professors) to help you out into cleaning up your mess.
If you fail, it's alright. Mistakes are but small rocks that cover up a large diamond below. You'll be making plenty in your lifetime, and everyone suffers more or less. You just have to stand up again and again and again. :)

As someone who graduated highschool and had the best 3 years of his life, if you still in highschool please enjoy it and make the most of it. Those people around you may seem bad or whatever but when you'll grow up you'll be looking back at those days and smile. I'd be lying if I said I don't miss my highschool mates. The fact that we all are grown up now and we got new lives is really something to think about.
Wow I just at a loss for words with this one. I just started college literally across the country where I don't have any of my friends or people with similar music tastes or any similar tastes in general. I stopped studying when I got the notification this was out. I was crying through all of it. Anna you seriously out did yourself with this one. This is so many of us right now and this showed me that maybe I don't have to be as miserable as I have been. I can understand this more than anything. This week is the last week of school before my final exams and I know I want to go to school to further my studies but I feel rather bittersweet about everything, I'll miss my friends I made in school. My Prom would be held next month after our final examinations. Stress is a definite thing in this but I completed my final exams and now, 17 November is my Prom and I will officially graduate from school, it feels rather complex.

Update: I forgot about this comment completely, I didn't know it got so much attention! Thanks, I guess. Yeah, basically, here you choose your high school, and by that you choose your future job. Which is unfair, someone who is 14 is not supposed to know what do they want to do with their life. I am in a pretty hard high school now, that is already preparing us for university ( even in terms of difficulty). I am glad I got accepted, because it's pretty open to lots of fields and I have some ideas what I want to do later on, but they are not really set in stone... That being said, it's not perfect, but I didn't have any better choice, so it's all good.

Thank you so much for this video, and song. Last year, I graduated from highschool and it was so hard. I couldn't find a way to express my fear of growing up, finding my way, and losing friends. All of my friends knew what they wanted, and were so happy to graduate, so I felt so alone... I really thought it would be better to give up on everything. But this song could say what I was feeling deep inside, and I knew I wasn't alone. We all are scared, but we keep walking. I've been listening to this song all through my Kurstufe and my Abi and it really carried me through. I cry a little every time because I experienced all the things shown and everytime I watched it the experience changed because suddenly a part of it all was behind me and I'd actually done it. Now I'm going to Uni and have gone through all those steps and I thought I'd revisit it and now I'm sitting here bawling because it this song captures all these feelings so perfectly...
This song made me think about my future when I was 16 and everything I needed to do. How to live my life? What am I supposed to do? Who do I have to be as an adult? Do I have to change and leave everything?... All those thoughts are now just things that no longer bother me. Now I am happy and I know what I want and who I want to be. So listening to this song brings back a lot of memories that maybe aren't so nice but that now make me see how far I've come and how happy I feel now for who I am and what I can be.

When this song came out I was graduating middle school, which in our curriculum very much determines the whole future and you move to other places/countries for highschool/college, some join college for diplomas and get jobs (16+) so it’s somewhat like highschool graduation in other countries, you spend only 2 more years in highschool if you do join highschool ( it’s not compulsory here to join HS cause there’s other education options and you can also take a break year for work experience before resuming school so it’s easier to get in the field when you do get your certificates, most do join HS though cause easier pathway esp in science fields and more international recognition) so I remember listening to this and crying cause it was a huge life changing moment and all the stuff here hit me, how everyone was going their ways plus I didn’t know what to do with my life, and i came back to ironically listen to this at my highschool graduation cause it was the first real step for me in adulthood as a new adult and it was just as scary to go different
ways as my 16 year old self except this felt more real, and even though I knew an idea of what I want to be in the future and what I was going to major in, I still felt just as clueless on what to do with my life, it’s like I’m following I’m doing what I feel like I should be doing as something I would like to do as a career or build a future around but I still feel like im in the middle of losing everything not knowing where all of this is going to end up where I will be going so here I am in college most of my friends more successful than me or have graduated some starting families and beginning their careers and it’s so overwhelming how I still feel clueless on what I will be even though I am working on studying for something that I feel like suits me I still feel like a child in an adults body and it feels shocking when i see people my age are mature adults and we are not some school kids anymore and this song still hits me the same studying in college I don’t really feel like I was anything different than when I was in highschool but when I look at the people besides me I’m like wow I’m an adult in my 20s and people my age are having adult lives it sounds silly to say it like that, I guess I never really felt like I stepped away from my teen years and now coming one more step closer to mid 20s it feels like I’m still catching up even though I know many people would say 22 is still very young for all that and not everyone has everything figured out it’s still an intimidating age cause one day we were all doing the same things and now we are all doing different things and that change is hard for me to grasp around, recently I’ve seen a few people my age who were in my class give birth to babies and that freaked me out even though most people my age doesn’t really start families that early it hit me I’m at an age where it’s actually legal to be getting married and have kids and we have different ways we decide to run our lives but it’s still bizarre how we were doing the same thing until we really started taking reigns of our lives, or at least I’m still trying to figure how to take reigns in my life I’m a strong believer of everyone has their own pace and time but it’s overwhelming to see so many changes in all that worked for so long in a similar pace, maybe I just haven’t quite grown up but I’m still at the step where I’m only looking at my future as something far away rather than the point where it has begun as my childhood self would have envisioned so I’m still dreaming like my child self who dreamt I would be something so different at this age would have done so much more but I’m still the same still entering college like I’m going to school and looking ahead like I will be more grown except rather than 10
Years my hopes have changed to couple years and that’s a lot more pressuring cause I’m at a time where I should start and even though I’m on a path it’s terrifying and I find myself not knowing what I’m doing or where I’m going in a sense it doesn’t feel like much has changed in the past 6years for me or that time has even passed that long maybe Covid contributed too since my 18th pre Covid to 21st birthday right after Covid I have this huge blank so I don’t know how I ended up being 22 and I don’t know how people around me managed to move on and do so much in a time where I felt so frozen in time ( uh this turned into a long rant that no one would prolly read but yea this song really has me up in my feels)

I first listened to this back in middle school and now I am in my last year of high school, last semester, graduating. When I first listened to this song I liked it, but it didn’t make much sense, now everything about it makes so much more sense and the music video alone says so much, I must admit I cried.
