In today’s video I’m going to be workikg on decluttering some cabinets in my family room.
I have a very bad habit of shoving any clutter inside ANY available cabinets, cupboards or drawers to get it out of sight.
Not a great plan! Every space of my home is overrun with clutter now and all the hidden spaces are filled up 🤦♀️
So today I am going to do what I can by starting to declutter the cabinets in my family room. I simply can not believe how much space I created by removing, throwing away and donating all the clutter I had in my coffee table and 4 cabinets. I think I know I have the equivalent of 2 empty cabinets 😍😍
Starting this decluttering journey has been hard yet very rewarding. Every little part o get decluttered motivates me to continue.

You could put your photo albums in the same cabinet as your yearbooks -- and they are able to stand up, too. The drawer above could be for those smaller photo books. Good job!

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Gus. I know what a hole in your heart our belved pets can leave when they cross they rainbow bridge. The only solace I have found over the years is that when i rescue another, I sometimes find qualties I loved about my beloved pet in others that I adopt over the years and that makes me smile. Sending you hugs.

It was so bittersweet to see Gus. I am going to miss seeing him. You have inspired me to get some cleaning/ organizing done. I tackled my master sink area and the cabinet today. Just have some makeup brushes to clean tomorrow. Had hubby empty and clean the planter shelf in the kitchen and clean the wall over the stove. OMG, we don't even fry any food and the grease he cleaned. Just glad it's done. 😊

Can I ask what you use to tackle the grease? I recently moved into my forever home and realized the wood cabinets above the built in microwave (which is above the stove) has a layer or two of grease…and the light & fan area under the microwave also has a few layers of grease (yucky…just yucky!) I have no idea how to get the areas cleaned without causing damage. Thanks!

Donna Jean just started 5th grade band and she decided to play the trumpet. She’s not quite as easy to listen to as Viv 😂😂 but I will absolutely encourage her as well. She just learned Mary had a little lamb 🥰
@@jodidunnmymessylife1847 That’s AWESOME! Keep the conversation going about college :) And most colleges have scholarships available for music and non-music majors. So whatever field she is getting degree in, she can still earn FREE MONEY! And Donna Jean will get there :) If it’s getting too loud, have her try to play her songs on just the mouthpiece (it actually helps her embouchure quite a bit). It will sound like a kazoo but you usually can’t hear it all he way across the house lol
Oh my gosh, seeing some of the toys made me have flashbacks of the toys I played with as a kid! The decluttering is probably so satisfying on a mental level, I would assume it really lessens the stress! I wish I could do this with my mom but she's so sentimental that it makes it difficult. However for 'school stuff' organization, my mom puts everything from binders to glue sticks into one dedicated cabinet that we can grab stuff from when we need it. My siblings and I know that if its not in the cabinet, we don't have it!
It truly is amazing. Even if I couldn’t see it, because it was in a cabinet, I still knew it was there and it created stress 🤦♀️
Yes having a dedicated space for things is the best ❤️

Great job with the decluttering! Looks like you’re gonna finish your entire house by the end of November, just in time for the holidays! My mom and I did some decluttering of her papers of over the years! It was an entire day project, and we had several bags of curbside paper recycling completed! Another day we will keep going through papers (which there are still A LOT)! I’m struggling with really getting any one area done though.

I know it will hurt for some time but the beautiful memories and mark on your heart are forever and honor him and yourself. You are an outstanding doggy-mama. I have grief over my pets and have lived long enough to experience this many times. I respect your care and love of your beloved Gus. God bless you.

Just a helpful suggestion when you stack your photo albums do one with the binder in and one with the binder out it help with the slating of them and help to keep the binders lasting longer

Those pot holders are the ones I use most and I decluttered most of the others. My kids made them about 20 years ago.

You can touch up the Knicks in your wood furniture with stain pens, they have them in a home improvement store they work really well

Decluttering in small sections is a great idea, auch also is putting lines with likes. And for that: why don’t you fetch your pictures to-be-sorted out of the kitchen island cabinet and put them in with the albums? It gives a lot of peace if there are not too many spots screaming at you with all the tasks still to be done 😉

I rewatched your family room declutter. I noticed a bunch of nicks and scratches on the coffee table. You can buy a stain pen and touch that up. It’s cheap and easy.

Seeing all the Ponies and naked Barbies was reminiscent of my big toy purge of 2020. I finally sold the big play kitchen and all the toys we had in their play area downstairs. Glad to know my girls aren't the only ones who took the clothes off their Barbies, lol. Also, I made the EXACT ceramic project in 7th grade art.

Great job going thru those hidden spaces. I am working on my craft area, which needs more bins and labels. I see the book The Care of You and I bought that for my daughter when she was in middle school too. I just donated a bunch of cookbooks too
Betty I’ve had that book since Gracyn was a teen. It’s such a great book for young girls. Yes the hidden spaces are definitely my down fall 🤦♀️
Hi there, if i may… I would like to tell you something i did and that I thought it helped… instead of having “empty” shelves… spread what is left… separating in types maybe… it will be easy to see everything… and easier to find when you need.. I hope this helps… :)
Aww, I started crying seeing Gus, obviously because I know that's the last time I will see him. OMG Jodi, sorry, but I grew attached to him as much as someone could virtually just seeing him in your videos for the last I don't know, whenever I found you. Sorry if I dragged you back through that. Anyway, you did a great job, again. And OMG, I love the sax! That did sound beautiful. Piano and sax are probably my fav instruments and I play piano but cannot get the wind to play an air instrument. Loved this video so much. Thanks Jodi!!
