This is untrue. Out of all the expensive niche fragrances I own, not a single one of them has come close to the amount of compliments and affection that Sauvage Elixir has brought me. As fragrance nerds, we can become ego invested in our expensive, out of the ordinary type fragrances because they make us feel unique and special.. but I can say from experience that some things are most certainly popular for a good reason.

I highly believe that fragrances stink if applied to dirty, and unwashed skin.
Some people don't shower, or they think that they can get away from showering by spraying a fragrance.
And combining the dirty skin, and fragrance creates a bad scent.
3:28 I don't think it is Ambroxan. I wear Ambroxan EDP by itself, and women hound me over to know what I'm wearing.... Could be that people over spray Sauvage, and people get nose irritated from smelling the citrus notes.

Makes total sense: fragrances contain solvents - and aromatic oils act like solvents too - so they pick up the natural oils and make them more volatile

@@feedbackzaloop I mostly shower early in the morning, and one day early in the morning I had to run a quick errand. So I didn't shower, and just sprayed my chest and chest area on the shirt. The smell was bad. It almost smelled like bug spray.
The next scenario is showering, and spraying a fragrance on a clean jersey fabric shirt. Then, being too tired to take the shirt off and just going to sleep with it. The scent when I woke up was off it didn't smell good.

That Black Orchid is super incredibly powerful to me. I've had it 2 years and only wore it twice so far. It is an extremely specific fragrance for me. If it's cold outside, and I know I'm going to be out in it, I'll put that on. Perfect example, the first time I wore it, my wife and I went on a horse and buggy ride thru Indianapolis to see the Christmas lights. It was very cold out, and it was perfect for that situation. But I would never dream of wearing it in an enclosed, intimate setting. Not a chance. It's too strong. It damn near repulses me, AND I LOVE THE SMELL OF IT! 😄😄😄

Now I am guilty of owning an Aventis clone and it gets sooo many compliments. I also have a Layton clone and it does well too. Just got Khamrah Qahwa and Turathi Blue and they're doing great, compliment wise. I think the fact fragrance is rare here makes me get more attention for it.

This reminded me of something that happened when I was starting the Master's program at University. I always wore the same basic perfume back then as I didn't really think much about fragrances back then, I think it was just Brut. I did, however have five or six perfume gift boxes that my dad had given me. These were the type that came with a bottle of the perfume and some other branded item like a toiletry bag or razor in a nice presentation box. I have no idea where he got so many of them, but suspected he hadn't paid for them, but had probably gotten them in the course of his job. Anyway, when I ran out of my usual stuff one day I didn't feel like buying more so I decided to finally start using these. The first ones didn't make much of an impact, but then I got to Safari for men, and my then-gf went absolutely crazy for it. It got to the point where I'd go to meet her and the first thing she did was give me a hug and sniff me (which I didn't actually mind). Then when I ran out, I went to the next perfume and that day when she went to smell me she got upset saying that wasn't my smell. I laughed it off, but she was a bit upset the rest of the day. The next day I went to meet her and she gifted me a box of Safari. She also told me that one day at her work some other guy came in wearing it and she got upset that someone else was wearing my scent. From that point on I always wore it while I was dating her. I figured it was doing it's job so why mess with it.

First day I wore Y EDP at work. Before I even reached work I noticed I was with a lady from another office , getting off at the station. As we were about to enter the yard she said "Oh, that odour I can't stand it!". I thought it was some garbage nearby but no, she immediately stayed away from me and went around the building to enter from another door to avoid me, mumbling something. No one else commented on it, I have tested it at home , going out, it go little but positive attention. It's strong and perhaps she just didn't like it. Even if Y line is supposedly an office friendly line, I know only use it outdoors.
And no, I hadn't oversprayed. Maybe 3-4 sprays and I have a dry skin that 15 sprays of Terre, Explorer or Prada L'homme are hardly noticed even by the lady sitting right next to me at the office. And I also meet tens of clients everyday.

@@lullemans72 afterwards I actually just put a couple of sprays, it's indeed quite strong. That day I was thinking of putting 3 but maybe I used 4 (two under each ear and 1 in the wrists but sometimes because I don't want to rub it I put 1 on each thus 4).
I had applied at least half an hour prior because that's how much it takes me to get to work. Also, the comment was made outside, in the yard and the weather was pretty cold, December I think. It didn't smell that much in the office but I had washed both the neck and the wirsts before sitting at the office.
But as I said, I usually pull off 15 sprays of usual office EDTs and some EDPs with no one even noticing. So 3-4 on my skin is almost nothing especially during the winter and outside.

Kirke, Erba Pura and others with this DNA have not a good reputation. They are very loud and dry down into a very frustrating musk that stays for ages. They are often used by those ladies who love to hit hard on the trigger. I would stay away from this one. The other two are fine.

Ain't that the truth, and it's not just Canada. I've encountered groups here in the states and they're dressed to the nines but smell like a herd of elephants. It's almost enough to call in a hazmat team to decontaminate the building.
