Western Pacific 165 | First runs after Restoration (4014 Celebration event / WPRM)

165’s restoration has FINALLY been completed at the WPRM! Just days before big boy #4014 came rolling into Portola, steam crews put the finishing touches on WP #165

165 has been under restoration for nearly 2 decades at this point and saw operation in mid - late 2022, these operations were hauled to complete the restoration and address leaks / problems with the engine

Today, July 10th 2024, is the first day WP 165 has pulled trains in her fully restored appearance, long live the WP!

Michael, thank you for posting the video of 165. When it was at the Alameda County fairgrounds, I did some painting on it. I had nothing to do with the infamous blue paint that was applied after my time there. Over the years, I also made some small donations to the project. Great to see the results of the restoration.

While it's great to see the engine up and running, I've NEVER seen a group of cabooses like that!!
It warms my heart to see that SOME PEOPLE haven't trashed all cabooses.❤❤❤😊😊😊

I miss the caboose, I really miss the guys in the Caboose! Of course I was a little kid the last time I saw a caboose go by. At 4:00 we would run to the end of the block to watch the train go by. The guys in the Caboose would always toot the air whistle for us! That's a big deal at 6 years old!

Actually a decent amount, 26, 94, 164, 165, and 334 are all still around, 165 is the only one of them to be under steam in the 21st century however
