Lassie - Episode 110 - "The Ballerina" - Season 4, #7 (10/20/1957)

Jeff falls for the daughter of Ellen's visiting college roommate when he sees her practicing her ballet. But when Porky teases about her dancing, she gets mad at both boys until they redeem themselves when she hurts her ankle walking in the woods. This is very much a "Jeff and Porky" episode, with Lassie coming to the rescue as usual. Timmy has only a token appearance.
TRIVIA: Janine Perreau (born 1942) plays the part of Debbie in this episode. An accomplished child actress of the big screen, Janine was the younger sister of two other child actresses - her sisters Lauren, and Gigi (born 1941 as Ghislaine Elizabeth Marie Thérèse Perreau-Saussine) who was named "best child actor of 1951". Janine began her acting career at age 5 in the movie "Song of Love" which starred two of Hollywood's biggest names: Katherine Hepburn and John Walker. By the time she was eleven (1953) she had been in seven movies. Unlike her famous sister Gigi, however, Janine acting career appeared to be short lived. By the time she was 11 her movie career was over. She was 15 - her filming career sadly already coming to a close for such a talented child actress - when she made this Lassie episode. Strange to think that more than all her movies combined, the serial TV show Lassie may well be the most widely, and most repeatedly, shown example of Perreau's work.
