    Alsalamu alakum Sister! Let me start off by saying that I cooked this dish for my family’s dinner tonight, and it turned out amazing! Growing up in the west, I didn’t know what kushari was until my oldest sister married an Egyptian man, and when she learnt how to make it, she would always cook it for us when she visited. The first time I ate it, my mind was blown away because it was so delicious. Now my own children love it too. We don’t have a dish like it in Lebanon.

    I just returned from my first visit to Egypt. The country was so beautiful, the people were so kind, and the food was delicious! Koshary was my favorite. I'll be using this recipe to cook for all my friends.
    Do you happen to have a recipe for hamam mahshi?

      @Savvy Bites mine too! Have loved it since I was a baby and my daughters are EXACTLY the same!
      But then I love almost all Egyptian food. I had fuul, mahshy, mesa'a'ah and tahina for dinner!
      I NEED to make some hummus el Sham though as its so cold here! 😁

      @Savvy Bites brilliant! I look forward to seeing them all.
      I loooovvveee ta'meyyah!
      Takes me back to holiday, as a kid, sitting on the beach in Matruh or on the promenade in Alex, eating fuul and ta'meyyah sandwiches, all washed down with lots of ice cold karkadey! 😋😋😋
      But nothing beats the fresh mango juice! Huge glasses straight out of the freezer, and then filled with delicious, ice cold, fresh mango juice with chunks of mango in it!
      I cant remember the name of the shop now, but there was a great place in Cairo, near my dad's apartment in Helmeya.
      Ah the memories!

    Thank you so much for the recipe!! I have a question… when you add the elbow pasta and the rice to the pot, are they already cooked?? Or are you adding everything to the pot uncooked?? Thank you!!

    • @savvybites5498
      @savvybites5498  Год назад +1

      Thank you. All ingredients are uncooked except for Hummus, so pasta and rice are uncooked. Enjoy 😉
