Phenomenal job of being transparent. The only difference between you & others is you were vulnerable enough to show & document your experience. I am confident others have done the same or similar. Your video will help them more than the YT or IG natural hair army jumping down their throats & harshly criticizing. Keep it up!
you said it perfectly. It takes a lot of courage to document your mistakes in an ironic society that loves to say it's okay to struggle, but we don't like to actually see the struggle. Seeing Latoya make the same mistakes that I did and seeing her still upload another week of the challenge really motivated me to tell myself that it was possible. It's disheartening that people thinks she's struggling for views or that she is trying to disparage SSC when really she has attracted so many people to know what it is and how they can do it
Truly, in the last month we have seen that you are a woman full of courage, strength and tremendous grace! Thank you for being so candid about the little speed bumps that can and have happened to all of us when trying something new!
Such a great reflection on the experience. Your smile and positive attitude are goals! I've watched the videos in See Some Curls multiple times. There's so much nuance. I'm glad you stuck with it and got a few nuggets to carry with you as your hair continues to flourish!
I'm really looking forward to how this journey affects your routine and hair going forward. I loved watching your journey with this 30 day detox, even hough I decided a long time ago I wouldn't be trying it.
Girl where are you going you look amazing!! Listen it’s ok we all make mistakes. I def put I create hold instead of the moisturizing conditioner in my hair before so you know… lol. I appreciate you making this video acknowledging the slip up, but honestly you’re doing great overall. I also completed the 30 day detox and now I’m looking into products that smell good and also provide a great look and feel! So far I’m loving the TGIN stuff. Looking forward to more videos!
Such grace!! You've just shown that there is a way to discuss anything. I believe that trying new things takes time, trial and error. This is how we learn. BTW..you look absolutely stunning..Be Blessed and carry on🌺
Being so transparent about your process makes it that much easier for us to tweak our own experiments for a higher probability of success!❤️ TFS! Your hair is so cute!
Love the transparency and the journey and yes I too, noticed how quickly your hair got wet. Do I see a porosity change?!?!? Lol You look beautiful and Zoey is Gorg!
This same thing happened to me while I was doing the detox! Turns out it was so much build up on my hair, not that I'm low porosity! My hair absorbs water and products so much faster now.
Fabulous, glad to hear you've completed the trial and came to the right decision of what works for you. Don't be bullied/shamed into how to care for your hair by the hair Gestapo. Imagine being called out for how you washed your hair. You're beautiful smart and confident. looking forward to your next video.
If only all the people who are doing this hair regiment and the SSC police had watched all the videos they would have understood what happened before being all up in arms. But some people will alway choose chaos and negativity.😆 All the best with your next hair adventure!😊
I think we all learned from your journey. And at the end of the day, it's your hair and you can do whatever you want. Anyone can see you've done well! Love the hair. 🤩
Super interested to see another wash day video. I really hope that using the brush vertically until you get to the root then turning it horizontally helps speed up your detangling
I love your grace ❤️ we are all learning. I'm in see some curls and made mistakes too. It's called being human. We just have to learn from them. Keep up the great work! ❤️
Excited to see what your routine is now and how your hair will react to it! I appreciate how you documented the process as you went along and didn’t try to come off as perfect or a know it all, keep up the good work, we appreciate you ♥️
Latoya, thank you for doing this series! It took a minute to understand why you were doing this, but I caught on! At the very least, the technique gives the opportunity to learn more about our hair and what it really needs versus what's "folklore." Yes, plus I agree with the comments, you look great! 😍
Is your hair actually getting wetter significantly faster or is the flattening caused by the effect of having gel in your hair from the last wash day mixed with water under the shower head? My hair looks super flat when I first go in the shower...until it's been cleansed of all product.
i’ve been doing the detox since January of this year - and i say this in love & maybe to save you a little time in the shower . but when i’m adding conditioner i separate my hair into 2 sections (i don’t have a whole bunch of hair like you so do as many as you feel necessary but in SSC Aishia did 2 sections & she has a whole lot of hair) and then i add about 8-10 pumps of conditioner to each side and then work it in . in the time that i’m working it in on one side the conditioner placed in the other side of my hair has plenty of time to marinate coupled with the steam coming from the shower . putting on a cap might just extend your process a little longer . i also know that maybe 8-10 pumps of conditioner sounds like a lot . but those innersense conditioners are extremely thick and i’ve had mine (using the hydrating cream conditioner) since the end of May and i still have like 1/3 of the bottle left . I’m praying that it will last me for another 2-3 months . best of luck to you on your hair journey !!!
Thanks for doing the challenge. My hairdresser doesn't use oils or butters in my hair but sometimes when I want to do a different style in-between visits I will still use my creams and oils and just don't use as much as I use to. Do what is good for your hair and scalp. And your hair ain't falling out so you doing something right.🤣
I definitely learned a lot watching you & Jenn J's journey.🙂🙂 I use a botanical clarifying & moisturizing shampoo. However, I still use a heavy conditioner because of your experience with the botanical conditioner not giving enough slip. I do use botanical gels and mousse to style. Lately I have been wearing a low bun as a style. Nursing my hair back to health currently. It still takes me a while to complete my wash and set, but not nearly as long as before. Once I get my hair healthy again, I am locing. My hair journey may be more successful as far as length retention. Your hair is beautiful as always🦋🦋🦋🦋💎💎💎
Hey Cali! lol Coily Crew in the house! I noticed that it makes it a lot easier when I at least begin vertically. When I get to the roots I have to switch horizontally though. Thanks for chiming in!!!
Thank you LaToya for this video 🥰💙💕.. luv this video.. thank you for taking us on your journey as well as letting us know what you thought about this process/challenge 🥰
Ohhh girl. I mix the innersense moisturizing conditionner with the ag natural conditioner. It lathers like a dream and It helps me ration my products lasting me almost a year .
I enjoy watching your videos. Should you use two different products-one for the scalp and one for the hair? I'd asked my hair stylist what type hair I have. Seems every one is typing their hair. They told me that I have fine and medium hair.
all you need is water to rinse off sweat and dirt but i understand having a scalp condition wanting to clarify again. it definitely doesn't hurt, as we put the moisture right back in.
Hey sis, I need help. I just washed my hair Wednesday night and it’s already dry and tangled. I’m thinking I need to start pre-pooing and washing my hair (especially to help for detangling) in the shower again. I can be lazy (most) of the time and wash in the sink . I’m really thinking about washing my hair again tomorrow. Like a do over to test the sink vs shower wash. Should I wash again.
Curious question: why follow a clarifying shampoo with another shampoo? Shampoo is to cleanse, which the clarifier already did, so why not go straight to conditioner? I feel like I might be missing something here.
My understanding is that clarifying shampoos have a high ph and the moisturizing shampoo helps bring it down a bit, in preparation for the conditioner.
You're right it does not make sense except making us buying more products. You don't need a specific products to prepare your hair for the ph of the conditioner. Even in skincare people use on their skin vit C or other acids which have a very low ph without the need of any preparation and skin is alive and very sensitive while hair is dead. We're just doing way too much because marketing and some brands tell us too as if our hair was as fragile as a very thin wine glass. Using 2 shampoos won't hurt but it won't help either.
@@dondrieburnham7577 you are right. Clarifying shampoos (which you should use rarely) have an extremely high ph (which is why you shouldn't use it often). Next down are general purpose shampoos, and then moisturizing. Most people who don't know the science behind what they put in their hair, and who are not cosmetologists, don't know what, or when, and many times how they should be using something. And from some of these comments they don't wanna learn either. So people will continue to struggle until they realize it can be a lot easier.
@@HereDiianas Everything for a reason. Clarifying Shampoo to remove heavy, non water soluble product buildup and mineral deposits from hard water (if present). The higher ph of Clarifying Shampoo opens up the cuticle. A moisturizing shampoo starts the process of returning the hair to normal ph and depositing softening emollients on the hair before conditioner. We wash rinse repeat twice anyway. You wouldn't need to do this if using if you hair doesn't have lots of buildup. It's only in the case of using clarifying shampoo...which we shouldn't use often anyway. It's not a ploy to use more products. I have different levels of facial cleansers for the same reason. I use my stronger cleanser at night to help remove sunscreen (and I double cleanse) and my creamy cleanser in the morning. Hair and skin are not a 1:1 comparison though
@@sart1348 You do realize that clarifying shampoos is very new for everyday customers. If you can't properly wash your hair once or twice with a shampoo whatever the marketing tells you then that is just not a good shampoo just change it as that brand is scamming you. Just look at black women on RUclips from 10 years ago or more who did a great job with their hair on RUclips. Did they use clarifying shampoos no. We did not even know where to find it. First it was the moisturizing shampoo then no shampoo at all then the cowash and now we need a clarifying shampoo followed by a moisturizing shampoo then a conditioner then a mask.... Don't you see the absurdity in this. Some "moisturizing" shampoo strip the hair. Some "clarifying" shampoo make your hair moisturized. Why because there is no rule the brand can use any name and put any ingredients in it and market it as they wish. If you love several steps again there is nothing wrong with that but you don 't need it and trust me I know chemistry and also the cosmetic industry from the inside very well. The ph of any shampoo does not open your cuticles and it should not. You can't open it like that that easily and you should not even try. Relaxers, colors, bleaching open your cuticles that's how you can change the texture and color and that's also why those process damage the hair. Shampoos are meant to clean your scalp and the surface or your hair whether they are clarifying or not nothing else so there is no need to open your cuticles. The conditioner put a coat on top of the cuticles to protect it so again there is no need of open cuticles here. And my knowledge on skincare is even stronger than and again that's just marketing. You don't have to believe me there are plenty of Dermatologists on youtube that will tell you the exact same thing. Again is it bad to have those multiple steps if you're happy with it. No. But that is not necessary you can a much more simple routine. And you may not care because you're happy with it but other people must remember that it does not need to be that complicated like hat and just on RUclips there are thousand of women to prove that But whatever...
