You are exactly right on that homemade sweetened condensed milk. It's just milk, sugar & butter (and, you could add some vanilla extract). I LOVE that cake, and I love your videos. I just recently found you on here. I made the crispy fried pork tenderloins the other day. Caught the tenderloin on sale, and you just can't beat the bargain. We ate on them for 3 days! 😂 I made a sandwich out of a piece of one. It was so good (Duke's and melted cheddar cheese on toasted bread). 🤌😄💜 If you had been my mom, I would have learned to cook a LONG time ago. But, mom was in an orphanage, and didn't learn either. It was always box, can, bag, frozen, or take out (once a month) for us.
Now I want one of them sandwiches 🥪 lol 😂… I was definitely blessed growing up in the kitchen with my moma and granny… we were poor with money but rich with love 😍🥰

I can see adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to this. One question though was that a stick of butter or half a stick because it looked like 4 tablespoons not 8. The icing reminds me of making the old fashioned coconut pecan frosting for german chocolate cakes. We used to have to cook it before they started preparing them for us. This is now in my saved recipes.
I get asked this all the time about the butter🤣🤣🤣…. It’s the brand… they make the sticks shorter but fatter!… so it’s still a full stick it just doesn’t appear to be 😊

That frosting is the same as the one for a German chocolate cake, never thought to use it on another cake. This sounds delicious, will have to try it.
