- This video shows how to properly chlorine wash a pool surface. This pool had been sitting for well over a year and had green & mustard algae caked up on the side of the pool. We planned on showing you how to acid wash the pool in another video but unfortunately our camera battery died and we weren't able to film it this time. However we are planning on making an acid wash video soon. This video is 100% unedited. Please check out our Facebook and website to see before and after pictures!

wouldnt it be easier to use a garden pressure sprayer to spray the chlorine around the pool???
one tip. if you rinse pool as it drains you get most of the crap off that way. tougher to get off after it dries. have done inground pools for 20 yrs.
Eye protection and a breathing mask would help.
It's not being a "hater" to suggest the guy wear appropriate protective gear. If he's demonstrating how people should do it, and esp since he's a commercial company, that kind of info is vital. Also, what's the ratio of chlorene to water you're using? And where's this acid wash video you mention is "next"?
May be he did not survive when he was doing the Acid wash Video, with the kind of safety precaution he takes.
agree with the safety gear, at least put some eye protection on, and when mixing chemicals with water, (anything not just chlorine), you never add the water to the chemical, you always add the chemical to the water.

Actually chlorine plus water =hydrochloric acid. I'm not a pool professional but I did have basic college chemistry.

@@samoea19 sorry but you wrong. When sodium hypochlorite (liquid chlorine) is dissolved in water it turns to hypochlorous acid which is a weak acid that is still a sanitizer. In fact when salt water is passed thru an electric current it makes hypochlorous acid to sanitize your salt water pool. Hydrochloric acid has a ph of approx. 3. It will not sanitize your pool.

I did pure chl no water. It did the trick. Got a wore brush and scrubbed the crap outta the left over algea. Good video

I need help lol..
I've been using a half chlorine, half water mix as shown.
An it's NOT removing the green staining or seemingly melting away as it is in this video.
An I've been scrubbing it WHILE I've been applying the chlorine.
Not sure what should do, I suppose I can try using the chlorine straight and grab singe more extra if I need.
Was trying to figure out, how to cut an mix the muriatic acid and hopefully that will do the trick.
When acid washing a pool, do small sections at a time - the acid should be applied, scrubbed and rinsed off in under 1 minute - or you are doing damage to the plaster.
The tile section should be acid washed and cleaned before the pool was drained.
i wouldnt acid wash the tile, it doesnt do a whole lot and it can eat away at the grout

I guess he didn't feel like mixing the chemicals into the water, so he used the pressure of the water to mix while adding it, or atleast it's an added benefit

He didn't clean the pool he just bleached it and that is not cleaning the stains and algae come back in an hour

bullshit...bleach kills algae. Chlorine is many many times stronger than household bleach. I'm surprised the guy can breath in there...
A pump sprayer would have done great work spreading the chlorine a broader area thats what I use at work to clean pools with after that a hose would make quick work rinsing everything down

With how fast that’s killing the green that is STRONG mixes. Not surprised he coughs. I know there has already been lots of comments regarding PPE so I won’t add to that but this is a lesson how not to clean a pool 🙈 this is a lesson on how to hurt yourself

Nice job killing the algae. I know you’ve been doing this for a long time most likely. However, in a how to video, you need to wear safety equipment man. Goggles and a respiratory device. Chlorine gas in a pool is no joke.
We use bleach in our domestic settings. He might be working on his own property hence the lack of protection.

Dude why not a power washer.
If he was me, would use a 300 gallon tank to premix and place at edge on shallow end and refill a 3 - 5 gallon pump sprayer instead of a 1 - 2 gallon garden watering jug, using a spigot at the base of the premix tank, instead of how he was doing it wasting time. And I would be wearing a face mask and respirator due to my disliking of the smell of chlorine for more than ten seconds to a minute.
This is why so many are converting to or going the way of a natural swimming pool/pond with fresh water and lots of plants to not have to deal with and pay for this type of mess and the chemical treatments.

That's why we have so called Berufsgenossenschaften in Germany: there are rules that shall protect workers from accidents. If these rules are not obeyed and an incident occurs there will be an investigation whose fault it was. Also the company or the management can be blamed if the employee has not been provided with a proper safety equipment.

Water first, chemicals after the water. Agree mask and eyewear. I have been doing acid washes for years. Easier if you have a helper, where one pours from top down or with a chemical sprayer and other scrubs and cleans off with water. But, over the years each in their own ways - just take precaution. Recommend hiring a professional who has access to quality chems not box retailer chems. Chlorine Wash to remove debris and dried algae, Acid Wash to whiten, brighten and remove most stains.

@@tomallen7699 It's still not safe to breath it. That's 10.5 sodium hypochlorite dangerous on skin and horrible to breathe in. I use it daily.
