    As a former US Marine Artilleryman, it should be no surprise that artillery is viable in a wargame format. It's called the king of battle for a reason. It only works with good support. You had good support. Air support, ground support, pretty much total protection and Arty did what it is supposed to do. Area denial, destruction of static targets, and general harassment of enemy troop movement and support. Haters are going to hate, but when properly supported, artillery is a force on the modern battlefield.

      I know this video is old but I'm pretty sure benign tumors might actually be getting used to block nutrients for actual cancerous tumors and getting them killed, benign tumors capable of producing hormones like insulin might also be introduced as a method of longterm diabetes treatment. Cancer ftw.

    I quite enjoyed that. Having one person dedicated to fire support is very effective. I wonder how effective, in a 10v10, it would be to have each player on a side dedicated to a specific role. At the very least one player dedicated to fire support and another dedicated to logistics. It would allow for additional ability to micromanage attacks without having to control arty and resupply.

    Why is everyone hating on this use of artillery?? I don’t do it, but I hold nothing against players that do. It’s no less a part of the game than anything else. And like everything else, it can be countered.

      A lot of players are real pussies when it comes to artillery, not just in Wargame. Some folks are so scared of arty, they even make no-arty matches in Napoleon Total War, when in reality artillery was a quintessential part of any Napoleonic battle.

      Agreed, and it's also something you have to be good at micromanaging/timing to utilise properly.
      I'm willing to admit one of the reasons I generally go for aircraft over arty is because I find it easier to manage.

      what do you use to counter someone who uses nothing but arty? i think if its mixed well into a force instead of it entirely making up your force its not only realistic but is whats it intended for,you arent suppose to have one guy ina 4v4 with 8 pieces of arty and thats all he uses all match,to each there own on what they find enjoyable ig but even if you do find that more "fun" than actually having a force to do things with.arty is useful im not arguing its not im just saying when someone does nothing but use arty for a 30-60 minute team game when does it stop losing its usefullness and become a burden for anyone trying to not have arty spam ther FoBs every 5 seconds

    What this game needs is the ability for the player to preset the number of rounds in a salvo so that an arty piece doesn't always fire 6 rounds when left unattended. Currently, if I want to a Caesar to only pop out 2 rounds and then queue a fast-move order to another location, I can't do that because the Caesar will go through a complete 6-rounds-cycle before processing the next order in its queue.

      @thedog556 Tactical decision-making should not include hovering over an artillery battery and waiting for it to fire the desired number of rounds, then pressing the halt button. If that's what you want, why don't we also tell individual soldiers whether to fire in full auto or single shots. Now stop trying to raise contrarianism to an art form and fuck off.

    Were you implying me from the conversation we had before about the low tier artillery? **hums innocently** (I use the base m109's that are worth 50 points and take less supply than infantry, but that improved aim time and rate of fire sure is nice. Believe it or not, the BKAN1A takes less supply than the 109A2 and A3, but the 1C eats supplies like nobody's business.)
    Yes, you can still destroy helicopters with artillery even when they're hovering high. I'm not sure about lower tiered mortars since it has been a while. I wonder if they decided to revert that change they did that was supposed to prevent that.
    Sucks it wasn't much of a challenge since almost everybody on the enemy team left.

      Reg.the Bkan1C, 14 round clips for 155mm artillery shells are quite logistics intensive...
      Yes it's ammo was pre-packaged into huge clips ready to be winched into the internal magazine of the vehicle. A reload took the crew of the gun and it's dedicated ammo truck with hydraulic crane about 2 minutes from rendevous.

      Not disputing that. My point was only in that each weapon has a certain amount of supply it takes to reload. In the case of the base m109 that is only 50 points, that is only 25 supply points per shot (24 supply for the 5 HE low tier howitzers). In most matches, a large number of base m109 will never come anywhere near being close to run a fob out of supplies and in many situations having the wider spread can be a benefit when firing in large numbers. Then you get into the higher tier m109's and they start eating more and more supplies per shot and I found that the BKAN 1A actually takes less supply per shot (33 per shot) than the m109a2 and a3 (48 per shot) models, making it extremely efficient and efficient, especially as a sniper artillery unit once it gets higher veteran levels. Then you get into the big mamma jammas of the BKAN 1C (66 per shot) and the AMOS (40x2 per shot) and a single one of those drain a FOB in about 5 minutes if constantly firing because each shot eats up such a high volume of supply points and they have such a rapid rate of aiming and firing. That's not even going into the subject of rocket arty or even touching on Redfor's side of things, though it is similar situations for them.
      I'm not saying the 1C is useless, and it's actually one of my favorite units in the game, but many people play them without even taking that into effect... especially in a tactical match and nothing is more frustrating than being the front line, going for supplies during or after an intense battle only to find that the fob is already drained because someone either #1 doesn't bring their own fob and leeches off of what should be more dedicated to the front line or #2 don't know how to conserve their ammo or #3 blind fire because artillery is cool and looks great on the score board (looking at you Redfor and your millions of rocket and Smerch batteries). And thus because you have to spend points on additional supply trucks rather than front line units, the push ends up stalling or collapsing.
      Meanwhile, using the base m109 I can go the entire match with 4 or more, I get to lay down a much more powerful barrage of fire over a wider area (at the cost of aim time) and cost less points and by the time I'm out of ammo, my supply cost is so low I can actually completely refill a quad stack of them with just a single supply helicopter. There are advantages and disadvantages of both tactics but I find the newer players or the not as smart players (to put it nicely) always gravitate to the arty units that tend to hurt the team more than help just because those weapons systems perform so well and because the raw stats on them appear so good.

    As Napoleon said, god is on the side with the best artillery.
    That was some damn fine artillery.
    Good coordination, line of battle management, target prioritization.
    So my question is this: why the hate?
    This tactic does not work without reliable teammates, and the after action says you did work.
    It is a strain on supply lines to maintain, and can be countered if appropriately focused.
    So what about this is dirty or unattractive?
    As I see it, a good support specialist is a mighty fine asset, as demonstrated by your teammates constantly calling for fire support.
    All in all, thank you for the fun match!

    Good to see you came back to Wargame. New years are going, new games are coming. Wargame is still the same. Last time I played 3 Amos or 2 Bkans on tacticals... and that was funny. But that carpet bombing quads made my day.

    hey do you know why my red dragon the units look like a little blurry like i have airland battle and the army letters on the helios and units look so real and beautiful but every units on red dragon v16.05.20 look so ugly like the cobras shark teeth all you can see is a red color in the front but in airland battle looks so clear and amazing. any advise can i fix that? thank you so much really

    @Stealth: how can we change this thing? I am pretty sure that you want to discuss this point.
    - I would love have a real discussion in some forums so we could help Eugen to provide a solution for that in this game or in a future copy of it (here I am including Steel division too)
    - My solution is that the weights of cards should be transferred to/exchanged with units weights and the weight of the Arty should be raised to the sky or make it not possible to pick more than one card because the price/weight will rise exponentially. lets say 3 points for first arty card and then 3*3 for the next card then you have lost 3 + 9 = 12 points of your deck creation weight-points

      A deck is around a regiments worth of units. In a real formation of that size there are expected to be ~20 medium mortars and 5-10 medium howitzers. The amount of artyllery in a regular deck is actually slightly lower than in reality. And in a brigade one one of the 4 regiments is entirely dedicated as an artillery regiment. So I eouldnt remove the number of guns, if anything increase it. I would however reduce their effectiveness. Smaller damage on entrenched infantry and armour, greater damage falloff, longer time to aim and time to reload, greater dispersion.

      What is there even to debate?? This game is centered on a fictional WW3. WW3 would have seen artillery usage that would have made WW1 look like a minor skirmish.

      Considering the fact that having that much artillery sacrifices slots for AA, that’s already a balancing act. It also helps that even the worst arty is still pretty expensive.

      I need no channel youtube! Agreed! It really bugs me how easily infantry will still die when in a forest or building. And some of these guns are WAY too accurate. They also need to fix the fact that arty can fire through hills/mountains.

      More than likely what will happen will be the next iteration of Wargame using the newer Normandy 44 game engine, just modified for Wargame's uses. The new engine is easier for them to work on, has a lot of under the hood advantages, and should be easy to mod it for their purposes. Doing another DLC for red dragon is more than likely just a waste of time for them unless they just wanted to make a quick buck to fund the next iteration of Wargame.
      Some of the reasons why this is likely to be the case: The math in WG:RD's damage system is limited, outdated, and convoluted. They had to program workarounds to exceed certain armor and AP values that were hard coded into the engine back when EE was new. This was a big problem when it came to implementing naval combat as well.
      There is also a problem in the old engine that made it so hull mounted machine guns on tanks aren't possible. Probably because machine guns are considered infantry weapons and can be fired at any angle. This was often "solved" by adding an anti-air machine gun turret, but that did very little to help many units. The STRV 103 for example would have a hull mounted twin machine gun in addition to its AA machine gun; So since it doesn't have its hull mounted twin machine gun setup, they're not nearly as effective with forest fighting as they should be since that is one of the major roles the tank was designed for and was one of the major reasons it didn't have a turret.
